An Antinomian Nightmare

These verses are a nightmare to those who claim to be following Scripture but then belittle the law of God. What Paul says here is inescapably tied to the Old Testament law, which he claims is the only sure definition of what it means to love. Here is a New Testament apostle holding the Roman Christians to the details of God's law-word, explaining that it is by the law that they know what love looks like. It is naïve to believe that the way one preserves love and liberty is by deprecating the law, because the very possibility of love is destroyed when the law is removed from its exalted position.
