The Dark Side of Democracy

Robert Knight is a former Los Angeles Times news editor and writer and was a Media Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. He's a regular weekly columnist for The Washington Times, Townhall.com, OneNewsNow.com and others. Robert has held senior positions in a number of pro-family organizations. Lately the left has been communicating the idea that there are threats to our democracy and certain things must be done to save it. This may sound good on the surface but the fact is, the U.S. is not a democracy. As Robert noted, we are a self-governing republic with shared powers so that no individual or group of individuals can become tyrannical.

Unfortunately, in the name of democracy, there are those seeking to derail and replace our republic. For example, Robert pointed to the fact that Democrats want to get rid of the concept of 2 senators per state, they want to pack the Supreme Court with 4 more justices and get rid of the electoral college.
