John 3:17-18 - Why Celebrate Christmas?

We hear regularly that "Jesus is the reason for the season," but if someone asked you, "Why do you celebrate Christmas?" what would you tell them? Would you be able to give a biblical response? Or would you be stuck merely telling them something true -- "because of baby Jesus!" -- but incredibly shallow.
