A Christmas Feast

"The church has historically called Christmas, Easter and the other high holy days of the church year 'feast days' because on them we rejoice and be glad in what God has done for us in Christ.
So it is appropriate for us to think of Christmas as 'practice' if you will for that great feast at the last day. Verse 9 says, This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Friends that is the message of Christmas right there. So may your soul be full of the richness of Christ's presence and may your heart be merry with the joy of His salvation. There is an ancient saying dating that captures the hopeless hedonistic philosophy of our lost and dying world: 'Let us eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die.' But you know, if anyone should know how to eat, drink, and be merry, it's God's people. But we eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow death dies, and it's all because of Jesus and what He has accomplished in His life, death, and resurrection."
