The Generous Lord of the Sabbath

Introduction: The Lord’s rest is better than the Promised Land, better even than Eden. And He has given us a Day that makes this very point.

1. Fervent Religion
   a. Can look very good, v2
   b. But may still need a strong wake-up call, v1
   c. If it has a wicked view of God, v3-6
   d. And produces a reflection in the heart and life, v3b, 7, v9b

2. Fruitful Repentance
   a. A right view of God, v6
   b. Produces a reflection in the heart and life, v7, v10
   c. And spiritual life and strength, v8
   d. In a close relationship with the Lord, v9a, 11
   e. That makes a multigenerational difference, v12

Conclusion: But while our hearts catch up, we must trust His Word, v13a
