Great Sin, Great Mercy

David sinned by numbering the people, but acknowledged his sin and faced his consequences, showing genuine repentance. Though Israel was punished for this great sin, David had a limited picture of what was happening. We often don't see the full picture. God was doing something greater, using David to prepare for the building of the Temple.
