from the Gospel of Luke. We're in the 23rd chapter and verse number 13. We're talking about our Savior being sentenced to die, even though Pontius Pilate tried to intercede for Him at least five times. Jesus had six tribes, but He tried to, he pronounced him not guilty five times. Now you have to realize and go back to the situation. First of all, the Supreme Court of Israel was the Sanhedrin. The Supreme Court here had committed every, had broken every law. They had broken their own laws. They were breaking the rules to kill their Messiah King that was the rightful King of Israel Pontius Pilate called them to this and told them they were breaking the law, their own law. Pilate said to them, Now the cross-references to this, and we're teaching this from Greek, this is Greek reading and research, the easy way. Matthew 25, 15-26, Mark 15, 6-15, and John 18, 39-19, 16 are cross-references to this verse. and Pilate having called together the head priest, the chief priest, and the one's leaders, and the people. In church history, we have the inquisition started in 1231. This is when they tortured people to make them to say that they were Christians or to say that they would denounce the Catholic Church. Anabaptist. In that period of time, the Anabaptists, they were Albigensi's Arnalists. During this period of time. They tortured them. How'd they torture them? Well, if you ever watch Laurel and Hardy and some of the cartoons, they would take people and put them on a rack. They'd tie their hands and feet and they put them on a table and they would pull them apart, pull their hips and their shoulders and arms out of joint and hold them that way in great pain until they recanted their faith in God and would believe in the Holy Roman Catholic Church. They would take them and put them in cages, like a phone booth type thing, if you can remember what those were, that wasn't high enough for them to stand up. And they had sharp objects and knife blades in every direction. They couldn't lean, they couldn't sit down, they couldn't stand up. Sometimes people would just throw themselves into the knives. But they would make these knives so short they wouldn't go in and kill any organs inside. They would slowly bleed to death. Thumb screws. They would take a pressure device, like a vice grip, and twist it and put it on their thumbs until they just crushed the thumbs. They would pull their fingernails off. They would gouge their ears out. cut their privates off. Anything to torture these people. By means of torture, Jesus was examined. And not one thing I found in this man, a crime. Which things you bring against him, attitudes against him. Now, according to the Law of Moses, If a person brought false charges against somebody and at the final, the judge of the trial said he is not guilty, those people that brought those false charges against that person had to be executed by whatever means the man that they brought the charges against was going to be. So every one of these people should have been crucified. Every one of these people should have been stoned. Every one of these people should have been strangled. Every one of them should have been burned. The three forms of execution of Israel was strangling, burning, and stoning. They had committed the ultimate crime of perjury and lying. Thou shalt not covet. They coveted him what power that he had with the people. Thou shalt not lie. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not convict. false testimony, death sentences, all of them. Pontius Pilate said, you are guilty, not him. I find no crime in this man that you bring against him. Do your stuff on yourself. You brought the false accusations. Now, here he is. He's innocent. We've tried him by means of torture. 2315, all who they Herodes, Anna, Pampsin, Gar, Auton, Prosimos, Cai, Udo, Udane, Oxion, Thanaton, Eston, Pep, Prog, Minon, and neither Herod, for he sent back him to us. And behold, nothing worthy of death he is, having done by him. Nothing is worthy of death, but you have lied, and you have committed perjury, and you are guilty. Five times he testified that they were guilty, not Jesus. They should have been crucified. They should have been stoned. They should have been burned. They should have been strangled, not Jesus. This man has got the highest authority in this place of Rome. The Jews were not permitted to execute anyone. Yet they did. Illegally, when they killed Stephen. 23 and verse 16 now. Pontius Pilate is doing everything that he can do to release Jesus, even if he has to torture him some more to do it. Therefore, having chastised him, I shall release him. I'm going to punish him and it will turn him away from his bad ways, supposedly. which he didn't have any. They were guilty of the bad ways. He should have whipped all of them. They shouted and they cried out, but they shouted and cried out with a whole multitude saying, all 70 of them, you take this one, you release to us the Barabbas. The Barabbas. Barabbas means bar, father, or son of the father. Bar Abba, son of the father. His father was not God. This man was a torturer. He was a murderer, he was a thief, he was an extremist. He had committed murder, he had committed insurrection against the Roman Empire, and the other two guys were his followers. This is the bad man here. It is said that this man had gone into villages and absolutely laid siege to the villages, raped women. Not only that, but he captured people and held them for ransom. He had even held the high priest for ransom. And this man with others of his ilk are the ones that brought the nation of Israel down at Masada. This man that they asked to be released would in finale cause the destruction of the temple, raise it to the ground. destroyed the whole city except for the Antonio Fortress. All the city would be brought down, leveled to the ground, not one stone upon another, as Jesus said. Barabas was truly guilty. Barabas had been sentenced to death because he had been guilty. He was the person that did these things. He was a murderer. He was a thief. He was a kidnapper. Jesus died for him too. Whether he ever called upon the Lord to save him or not, his sins were laid on Jesus' back. And the man was turned free. Barabbas is a type of us. Hostess A. D. Stosson. Tina. Gnomonane. N. T. Poley. Chi. Phonon. Glaithes. N. T. Filake. Now, who continued to be because of the insurrection crimes against the state? Capital crime. This guy was a mobster. some having become in the city and murder having been thrown in prisons. He had caused crimes in this city. He was a Sicari, the dagger man. He was a guy that slipped in the crowd and slipped up on a Roman soldier and stuck a knife in his heart and twisted it and walked off with a knife underneath his coat. These are the stiletto men. These are the dagger men. Some sources say that the ones that escaped here went and founded the island of Sicily. The Jewish mafia. Al Capone, or the Bugsy Siegel of his day, Big Bugsy Siegel was Jewish. The Bugsy Siegel of his day. And they had to say, turn him loose, so he can destroy our nation, so he can rape our daughters again, so he can rob us again, so he can hold us captive for ransom again, and kill that innocent king of the Jews. Five times he had called upon their own heads that they were guilty. Five is the number of grace, seven is the number of perfection. And to Pilate he called to them wishing to release the Jesus. He begged them. He begged them, he insured them to try to get Jesus released. He was innocent. These are the ones that he wrote to Tiberius Caesar. They would sell their own mother for an advantage. They have no conscience. He is so much, Jesus is so much different from them. He's not like them. He said he has golden hair and blue eyes. Every time you get a physical description of Jesus from ancient times, he's going to have blonde hair and blue eyes. That was his description. He was tall and thin. Pontius Pilate wrote that description. He said he's so much different than they are. The dark beady black eyes and the dark complexions like they came out of the reaches and the regions of hell. scream and screech like demons, and stomped their feet and screamed for the murder of their king. Hoy dey effo no home. Legontes, staru, staru a tone. But the ones they kept on shouting, saying, Staron, crucify him, crucify him, crucify him. The Latin word to crucify means excruciating, excruciating pain. Some people suffered for nine days on the cross before they finally died, excruciating pain. The cross was a evolution. of torture. It began out as a star as a stake. The Ninevites invented it. It actually was impaling to begin with. They would take and put, they would take and build a platform and they put a sharpened stake on that platform. They take a ladder up there on both sides of this thing. They would grease that sharpened stake And they would take the man and strip him off, the woman, strip her off, and take her up there and set them down on that sharpened stake and watch them writhe in pain until they ruptured their insides and they finally expired. Well, it only took an hour, maybe, two hours at the most, maybe 30 minutes. The screams and the torture, the pain, the people down there writhing in fear of this capital punishment. Romans saw this and they said, well, you know what? We can make that last longer. We will nail his hands like this and his feet to that stake. And they did last longer in the state of excruciating pain. Then they went to the point, they said, well, you know what, if we put a X-type cross on there, a key cross, we can put one arm there and one arm over here and one foot over there and one foot over there. But now what these people died of then was suffocation. They'd have to push themselves up and take a breath and go down. Finally, they would wear out and die. Then they got another idea, the towel cross. This is what they were being crucified by and by the agency of when Jesus was crucified. The Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe this. He was nailed to the stakes. That had evolved. They don't have their archeology correct. It went from a stake to a cross to a towel. Now the towel would make a man live longer. How would that happen? He could pull himself up and down longer. and breathe. They'd nail one hand to one side and one hand to the other side through the wrist with a washer on it, not through their hands, through the wrist, right through the carpal tunnel where all the nerves go. Then he'd take the feet and nail nails through his feet. And then they even put a little platform to set their butt on. So you push up and set their butt down. And rest. It wasn't for mercy It was so they would stay in the state of torture longer and excruciating pain longer. Some people lived as long as nine days like that. These are historical accounts. They have found the nails, they have found crosses, the beams that they nailed their hands to and the vertical stake that they set it on. This really happened, people. This was a terrible form of execution that lasted for days and days. But the Jews were religious. They wanted him crucified, but they wanted him to get up there and crucify him and then break his legs and let him suffocate. And get him down off the cross so they could celebrate their holy days. But the one pilot said the third time, he said it for them. But why? What evil deed? This word is kakon there, that's Adamic. What Adamically evil thing? Jesus didn't do any Adamically evil things. No poneria, as they were doing right now, twisted, perverted, perfected evil. He hasn't done a little thing wrong. And yet you're doing big things wrong. Nothing evil or nothing Adamic he did or worked, this one. Not one thing. for a cause of death I find in him. Having chastised him, spanked him, beat him, therefore, that word is paidusos, to spank up straight. I'm gonna spank him up straight. I'm gonna chastise him. I'm gonna correct him. I'm gonna put him through some penal punishment. Some penal punishment. Penal means to correct. It means to straighten out. Penal colonies, where they put people to get them straightened out, where they don't want to go back. Now our penal colonies are vacation resorts with full medical. Everything they need. Wouldn't want to punish them for committing crimes, you know. He said, I will spank him up straight. and I shall release him. Pilate thought if he would beat Jesus publicly and they would see him suffer and bleeding and bleeding profusely that, you know, when you see somebody suffer like that, people's hearts are softened sometimes. They wouldn't. And then Pilate would release him. When they saw him bleed, maybe it would be like some mercy in their hearts, that something there down below, inside of those deep, dark hearts, maybe they had some mercy somehow. Pontius Pilate was wrong. These vicious wolves would lap his blood to the very last drop. Hoi de epe canto. Phones. But the ones they kept on insisting for themselves with voices great, begging repeatedly and vehemently This is an omniplural mask and present participle middle voice. They wanted to be shut clear off from that man. They wanted him dead. They won't have to face his ridicule anymore because they were wicked. To be crucified. They're begging for him to be crucified and they kept on prevailing, the voices of them. and Pilate he decided to cause to become the request of them. The power of execution was taking away from the Jews in AD 6 or 7. the scepter did not depart from Judah till the Messiah, the Prince, had come. And Genesis 49.10, the scepter shall not depart from Judah until Messiah comes. Shevet, the scepter. They couldn't execute him, but they demanded that the Roman government execute him. 2325, Apollusei Dei Ton Dea Stasin. Caephonon Beblemenon, Aes Philaquen Hone Aetonto Ton Dei Aesun, Paradoquen Tol Thelemata Aton. And he received the one because of the crimes of insurrection, civil disobedience, organized crime, and murder. Having been thrown into the prison, whom they kept on requesting, that one, but Jesus, he delivered to the will of them. Let's go back and read this now. from the Amplified Bible from verse 13 through 25. Pilate called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people. And he said to them, you brought this man before me as one who was perverting and misleading and turning away and corrupting the people. Behold, after examining him before you, I have not found any offense, not one, who then, not one offense, crime or guilt in this man, in regard to your accusations against him, you are guilty, not him. That should have brought their hearts to grief, because they should have remembered the law. If you bring a man and you try him and the witnesses say that he did this and they find out that he did not, the ones that accuse her shall be executed in what manner that he was supposed to be executed. They were guilty. No, nor indeed did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Behold, he hath done nothing deserving of death. I will therefore chastise him, and deliver him amended, reformed, and taught his lesson, and release him. Now verse number 17 is not in the original languages, but we'll just read it anyway. It's not in the Greek. For it was necessary for him to lease to them one prisoner at the feast. Somebody put that in there later. There's nothing wrong with that, except it wasn't there. I remember I was listening to a scholar the other day about the text of the New Testament. And he had written a net Bible with his group and crew. He's a textual critic and had a good one. Daniel is his name. And he said we, in our net Bible, We made it able, I mean, you know, the woman caught in adultery from 753 through 811, that's not in the Bible either. It's not there. It's a real good story, but it's not there. And he said, we made this, we did this, we, that's Matthew 16 verses nine onward are not there, even though we put them down there in italics very small. And he said, I hear so many preachers preaching from 753 through 811 that it's a good story. But it's not in the Bible. So, he said, in our net Bible that we put out, he said, we put the letters three times smaller than all the rest where a preacher couldn't read it from the pulpit. Preachers, take heed. Take heed. Don't read something that's not there. Don't read something up there. Even the New King James Version was based on Erasmus. Erasmus had very few ancient manuscripts when he made his translation. That was the first, actually not first printed New Testament, but the first, what we call publicly sold. There was one was a polyglot with several languages, Greek and Latin and all these other languages. It was like an interlinear, but they didn't get finished with it. He rushed and he got his manuscript out. He did not have real good manuscripts, not very old ones. The oldest manuscripts he had was in the 1100s. And this is the 1500s. Well, he got it out. The first one printed on the printing press. There were a lot of manuscripts printed by hand before that. But this was the very first one to be circulated and printed by the printing press. There was a lot of mistakes in it. Lots of mistakes. Lots of typographical errors. Because people didn't know how to read Greek. But Erasmus was trying to bring people back to the Bible, back to the original languages, away from the translation, but back to the original. He pushed that very hard. He fought against Luther and Calvin in that they believed in the church state. He said that's not what the Bible teaches. It's not church state. It's independent believers, bodies of believers all over. Finally, the Catholic Church, after he was dead, banned his translation or Greek Bible from any sales. And he died a Catholic priest. He wanted to leave that church, but he died a Catholic priest. And those manuscripts that he had, he didn't know that that woman caught in the drug trade didn't come in any Bible until 800 A.D. It was in none of the old ones at all. Nor were there any in the 16th chapter of Mark from verse nine onward, a total different writer, whoever that was. And that didn't get into the scriptures until after 400 A.D. So verse number 17 is not there. So even though we read it, It doesn't do violence to the scripture or anything, but it's not in the original language. But they all together raised a deep cry from the depths of their throats, saying, Away with this man. Release to us Barabbas. Give us the murderer. We are murderers. We are like bedfellows. He's just a murderer. We are murderers now. Let him have Barabbas. That man would help cause the fall of Jerusalem. People make wrong choices. They made a great wrong choice in crucifying their Messiah King. They told Pilate, he said, I am innocent of this man's blood. And they said, let his blood be upon us and our children. And boy, it has. And boy, it will be all the way up to the middle of that tribulation period. Two out of every three Jews in the world's going to die because of that blood on their hands. Until they turn and say, Baruch Hashem. Blessed is the name. Blessed that he came in the name of the Lord. And he was a man who had been thrown into prison for raising a riot in the city and for murder, and kidnapping, and extortion. This is what he was. He was guilty. Verse number 20, once more Pilate called them wishing to release Jesus, doing everything he can. His wife told him, have nothing to do with this righteous man. I had a dream about him. And by the way, Pontius Pilate's wife was Tiberius Caesar's daughter. And they kept shouting out, crucify him, crucify him, crucify him, crucify him. And the third time he said to them, I find no offense or crime or guilt in him, nothing deserving of death. I will therefore spank him up straight in order to teach him better and release him. Verse number 23. But they were insistent and urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified and their voices prevailed, accomplishing their purpose. Pontius Pilate wrote to Tiberius Caesar and he said the whole praetorium was, I thought it was going to fall apart from their screams and screeches like the demons of hell had been turned loose. They had been. They were doing They were inspired by Satan. As I said in the last message, they were inspired by the regions of infernal regions because they were sons of hell. Sons of hell. Verse number 24, and Pilate gave sentence and what they asked should be done. So he released the man who had been thrown into prison for riot and murder. for whom they continued to ask, but Jesus he delivered up to be done with as they wished. Our Heavenly Father, we send this message out. We're all guilty of the sins of Barabbas. We're guilty, we are, may not be murderers, but we're all liars. We've all been dishonest in some way. Father, I pray that you forgive us for our failure because of what this man did for us, our Jesus. Father, if there's one out there lost, doesn't know you, I pray that you will read them to you in this message. And Father, thank you for salvation so free and on our part, but so heavy burdened on his. Those that are out there that are saved, Father, I pray that they'll follow You more. They'll give up their lives and their substance to carry out Your Word. In Jesus' name, I pray You forgive me where I fall.
