Amen. And praise the Lord. I
want you to turn in your Bibles if you will to John chapter 3. John chapter 3. We're going to
look at a very familiar verse. We looked at this verse not too
long ago as we were studying through the book of John. But
I want to preach to you a message this morning entitled this, the
message of Christmas. And we find that in John 3, verse
16. We're going to read verse 17
as well. But here in John 3, verse 16,
what we find is a verse that holds all of the truth of Scripture
in itself. And everything that we see leading
up to the cross we find in this verse. Everything that we see
and how the Lord cares for us and loves us, we find that in
this verse here. Everyone that has ever walked
on this earth, everyone that's ever taken a breath, every baby
that's ever been conceived, they can find themselves right here
in this verse. And as we go throughout this
Christmas holiday, what we find is this, that people are focused
on so many different things when everyone, and I say that, of
course, there are some people that do not know this verse,
but as a whole, most people know what John 3,16 says. But very
few times will people take John 3.16 and connect it to what we
find in Luke chapter 2 and what we find during the Christmas
season. Here in John 3.16 and 17, I want
us to read it all together this morning. We'll read John 3. Verse
16 and 17. Ready? Begin. For God so loved
the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For
God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but
that the world through Him might be saved. If you look at the
whole Christmas story, and you find this baby wrapped in swaddling
clothes, lying in a manger that was born of a virgin, you find
these cute manger scenes, if you will, all around today. But
when you zero in on that, you find the message of what's happening
there is found in John 3.16. Jesus came and died on the cross
of Calvary because God loved you and me. Everyone, you find the message
of Christmas right here in the book of John, chapter number
3. Let's go to Lord in prayer. We'll
get started here this morning. Dear Heavenly Father, we come
before you today and Lord, it's just wonderful to be in your
house this morning. Lord, the singing has been powerful,
singing about the birth of our Savior. Lord, I pray that each
and every one of us would have our eyes on you today, that we
would be heavenly minded, Lord, that you would remove all distractions
from this room and from our hearts today. Lord, I know that there
are different burdens and struggles that are carried today. I pray
that we'd set those aside, Lord. You've told us, Lord, to cast
our burdens upon you. I pray that we'd do that today.
Lord, help us, give us the strength to do so. Lord, I pray that if
there's anyone here that does not know you as their Savior,
they would come to know you today. And Lord, as we talk about the
true message of Christmas, I pray, Lord, that it would be just seared
upon our hearts and that we would never forget why you came and
that we would give this truth out to this lost and dying world
around us. We ask all these things in the name of our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. Amen. Every holiday that mankind
celebrates has a message, does it not? Every single one of those. Of course, a holiday that is
near and dear to the hearts of everyone in America would be
July 4th. That's Independence Day. We celebrate the colors
of the red, white, and blue on that day. And yeah, we get together,
we eat too many hamburgers and too many hot dogs, if that's
possible. to eat too many of those things, but we eat a lot
of food during that time, and we celebrate the independence
that we have, the freedoms that we've been given, and we celebrate
what God has blessed our country with. And there are millions
of dollars spent around that time, and there's firework shows
all around, every community has one of those, and you see that
for that day as a whole, our country has came together and
they're celebrating what our country has been given. And of
course, we mourn the loss of the lives of the soldiers and
have given their lives, the ultimate sacrifice for us. And of course,
we're praying for their families and all during that time, remembering
them. But we have a day in which we
set aside and we say, this is what our country has fought for. And we celebrate that freedom.
And that's a good thing to celebrate. I'm not mocking that at all.
But I think too many times what we find is is we are we will
celebrate our freedoms as an individual and as an American,
we'll celebrate that. And we will spend so much time
and energy and money putting it towards those types of things. But yet, when it comes to our
eternity. Many times we just kind of gloss
over it. especially as believers. Lord, help us that we would not
just gloss over this Christmas season, but that it would be
a recalibration in our minds to see that it's not about just
some cute manger scene. No, it's about the Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ, leaving His home in heaven and arobing Himself
in flesh to die for you and for me, because without the shedding
of blood, there is no remission of sin. Well, we should celebrate
Christmas. Yes, we should celebrate that
the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was born of a virgin there. But
why did He do that? You see, that will keep it into
perspective for us. You see, the world makes different
holidays. They make the message about those.
Of course, we've got Easter, and the world makes it about
the Easter bunny and the eggs and those types of things. We
look at Christmas time, and the world makes it about some make-believe
overweight man dressed in a red suit. Well, they're all over
the place. You go to any mall, you can find them, amen? They're
everywhere. But even worse, many times we
as Christians tend to forget about the true meaning of Christmas. Take the year of 1809, for instance,
the international scene was tumultuous and Napoleon was sweeping through
Austria, blood was flowing freely. Nobody then cared about babies
at that time, but the world was overlooking some terribly significant
births. For example, William Gladstone
was born that year. He was destined to become one
of England's finest statesmen. That same year, Alfred Tennyson
was born to an obscure minister and his wife. That child would
one day greatly affect the literary world in a marked manner. On
the American continent, Oliver Wendell Holmes was born that
day in Cambridge, Massachusetts, not far away from Boston, where
Edgar Allan Poe began his eventful, albeit tragic life. It was also
in that same year that a physician named Darwin and his wife named
their child Charles Robert Darwin. That same year produced the cries
of a newborn infant in a rugged log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky. The baby's name? Abraham Lincoln,
the exact same year. If there had ever been a broadcast
at that time, I'm certain that that these words would have been
heard. The destiny of the world is being
shaped on an Austrian battlefield today. But quite the contrary was happening
in history, was it not? History was actually being shaped
in the cradles of England. and in the cradles of America. Similarly, everyone thought that
taxation was the big news in this time that we read about
in Luke chapter 2. Well everyone's coming because
there's a tax that's going to take place, there's a census
that's going on and Joseph had to put his espoused wife on this
mule there, this animal to go into the town of Bethlehem there
and they're going in there and everyone is joining at this place.
Remember there were many people there, there was no room in the
inn and they're going into this in all of these people had one
thing in mind and that is this, we have to get to that place
because the census is happening. It was important. They had to
go there or else they would face a fine or imprisonment or even
death. But a young Jewish woman cradled
the biggest news of all, the birth of our Savior and yet no
one was in Bethlehem for that. No one. As I mentioned a moment
ago, I want to preach to you a message entitled the message
of Christmas. There was a preacher and a scientist
who were having a debate one day and, and the scientist said,
I don't know how you expect me to believe what the Bible says
about creation. He went on to quote what he considered
to be verses that are hard to understand. And he said, this
is the hardest for me to believe. And without hesitation, the preacher
said, none of those verses are the hardest for me to believe.
The hardest verse for me to believe is this, for God so loved the
world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth
in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He said,
there's an awful lot of obscure verses in the Bible, but that's
the hardest to believe to me. Because why would a holy God
send His Son to die for a wretched sinner like me? Why would He send His Son to
bleed and to die on a cross for people who have nothing to give
to Him? Nothing. You may say, well, God
wants your life. He does. But God can have anything
that He wants. He spoke everything into existence.
The human life, it says that He formed with His hand. He loves
us, He cares for us, and He sent His Son to die for us. You see
what that preacher said that day is just as true today as
it was then. You see, when we think of Christmas,
it should not just be about angels to shepherds and to wise men
and to stables. And though all of those things
are a part of the main message, what we find is it's all about
the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. People all around the world send
what we call Christmas cards. We talked about those earlier
with the rack. that we have in the back there and they began
in 1840 and card companies received a lot of backlash from believers
around the world because of the pictures on these Christmas cards
and most of them resembled alcohol. Christians all around the world
said we don't want any part of that, that's not the message
of Christmas. That was in 1840. I would venture to say today
that if Christmas cards as a whole had pictures of alcohol on it
today, as a whole, around this world, churches would not say
a word. Lord help us. You see, here in
America every year over a billion dollars is spent on Christmas
cards. And Christmas cards, though they're nice, we all enjoy getting
Christmas cards and giving them, but many times they hold the
pieces of the Christmas story, do they not? I love a Christmas
card with a verse on it that talks about the Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ coming. Something that points someone
to the cross of Calvary. You see here in John 3.16 we
find that there are three parts of this verse worth pointing
out as you look at John 3.16 you see that God is the source
of love and the world is who that love is pointing to. and
He gave us His gift and this gift was the very Son of God
and we read that all you have to do is trust in Him as your
personal Savior and you would have everlasting life. You would
never go to hell because you've trusted in Him. You're safe and
secure in the hand of God. You see, that is the message
of Christmas. We like to have a lot of things
around and beautiful decorations around our house and those types
of things. And it's wonderful to have those things. It's wonderful
to celebrate this holiday. But let's never forget that a
baby came in a manger so that a man could hang on a cross.
Lord, help us. See, this message needs to be
spread to the whole world through the season of Christmas. We are
absolutely bombarded with this world's message about Christmas.
We're overwhelmed by the amount of things everywhere. And Satan
would like nothing more than to block Christ from our view.
Especially this time of year. You know, Satan would be okay
with us thinking about only the birth of Christ. as long as you
don't connect the birth with the cross. You see, that's where
Satan had that bruise to his head. We heard about last Sunday
night, I believe, or maybe it was Wednesday night, his brother
England was preaching. You see, even though this is one of the
most celebrated holidays, the message of Christmas has been
neglected and forgotten in most minds, even in the minds of believers. So first of all in this message
of Christmas this morning I want us to notice here the deliverer
of the message. You see during this time of year
every one of us have someone that comes to our house multiple
times a day. We might as well have a seat
at the table for them. That's the Amazon delivery guy.
Amen. Have some snacks out there or something for them. People
leave stuff out for Santa Claus. We need to leave something out
for somebody who actually exists and that's the Amazon man. Amen.
He's there all the time. It's stuff everywhere. And when
we go to order something, whether it be Amazon or UPS or FedEx
or the postal service, wherever it may be, people are delivering
these things to your house. And when we see them coming,
boy, we get excited about it. Whenever a truck pulls up in
the driveway, our boys are trying to be the first one to the door
because they want to get that package. They don't know what's
in it. but they know what's in it, amen? And the other day we
had a package sitting out front and we were away and we had came
home. alert on my phone that it had
been delivered. And I came home and opened the door and there
were two packages sitting there. And it was a good thing that
it was me that opened the door and not our children because
the one package it was in a box you couldn't tell what was in
it. The other thing was what we had ordered in its packaging
with an Amazon label on it just laying there on the sidewalk. So, either way we get a lot of
things delivered, do we not? Why are they delivering that
package? Well, simply because we ordered it. And they're paid
to deliver it to our door. But look at the delivery of the
Christmas message here in John chapter 3. If you have a red
letter Bible, what you're going to find is this. And if your
Bible is not red letter, look at verse number 10. And it says,
Jesus answered and said unto him. And then as we get to verse
16, you're still reading the words of Christ there. And it
says this in the words of Christ, for God so loved the world. that
he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. This is the Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ speaking. He is the deliverer of the message. It came from God himself. And
as we know, the delivery man today delivers exactly what we
ordered. Understand, God delivered something
to us that we did not want. He brought something to us and
made it available to us. And it's all wrapped up and it's
ready to go. He's paid our sin debt. And he
did that. Every single piece of that was
put together. And he brought it to a people.
Who would mock him. Who would spit on him. Who would beat him. Who would
tear the flesh from his back. who would press a crown of thorns
into his head, who would drive nails through his hands and through
his feet, people who didn't care. But yet Christ came. You see,
it wasn't something that we wanted, but he knew exactly what we needed.
As we look at the Bible over and over again, we see this,
that mankind commits sin after sin. And all the way back in
the beginning of scripture, we see Genesis chapter three, uh,
that a man and woman, uh, they send the first sin and a promise,
uh, was delivered from, uh, God to Satan. Let's turn back there,
if you will. Genesis chapter three and a verse, uh, 14 and
15. Genesis chapter three, verse
14 and 15. The Bible says this and the Lord
God said unto the serpent, because thou hast done this, thou art
cursed above all cattle and above every beast of the field upon
thy belly shall thou go and dust shall thou eat all the days of
thy life. Notice I will put enmity between
thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed and it
shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heel. Something that we must see here
is this this truth that many times we we we miss and many
religions miss and that is this. There are many religious groups
who refuse to believe that how that Mary was a virgin when Christ
was born. But notice here that what God
said in the verse it's a notice God said her seed. into your
seed, her seed. Christ did not come from the
seed of man, but was a virgin born. He was the son of God. This is important because every
single one of us, the Bible says for all have sinned and come
short of the glory of God. None of us who have sinned could
pay the sin debt for anyone else. Why? Because we have our own
sin debt to deal with and we can't pay Our righteousness is
as filthy rags. We needed a pure and a spotless
sacrifice to shed His blood for each and every one of us. And
that's exactly why Christ came, to die for our sins. Therefore,
the Son of God cannot come from the seed of a sinful man. As
we see here, God declares that he's going to deliver a deadly
blow to this serpent. This verse declares that there
will be a bruise on the heel, and that heel may cause a temporary
disability. It's not going to feel good.
Anyone that's ever hurt their heel, it hurts when you walk.
Every single step that you take, it seems as though you can't
get any relief from that. But eventually that heel is going
to heal. But when you take a blow to the
head, it's going to render you useless and defeated. And that's
what God told the serpent is going to happen. God told that
to Satan. He said, you may bruise the heel
of what's going on, but your head is going to be bruised.
See, what we read here and what we learn from this passage is
this, when the Lord Jesus Christ dies on the cross of Calvary,
when He bleeds and dies for our sins, Satan will feel as though
he has won, but it will only be a heel bruise. But then there
was three days later, amen? The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
was placed into that borrowed tomb and three days later He
rolled the stone away and He came out of that tomb triumphant
over death and hell and the grave and Satan could not do anything
to keep Him in there. for the whole world and that
work is going to deliver a deadly blow to the devil. The devil
is useless. The devil is a created being.
Therefore he will never defeat God because God is his creator. And you see each and every one
of us, I don't know what you're going through, but many times
as we go throughout the Christmas holiday, there may be some memories
that are looming over us. There may be some loved ones
that are no longer with us today and it seems to be defeating
us during this time. Understand that the Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ loves you. He can help you through these
things. He wants to give you grace. He wants to give you comfort.
Let's lean on him, especially this time of year. Lean on our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Understand that the devil may
have you down at times. But the devil thought he had
Jesus down. But he couldn't hold him down. He came out of that
grave three days later. That's the same Messiah that
died for you. If you're saved here today, that's
the same Messiah that you've trusted in. He was triumphant
over death, hell and the grave. He can make you triumphant through
whatever trial you're going through. He can. If you're not saved here
today, would you trust Christ? John 3.16 says, for God so loved
the world. Numbers chapter 21, we won't
turn there for time sake, verse 5-9 what we find is a passage
there in which there are some snakes and people were bit by
these snakes. And there was a brazen serpent
that was erected there in the wilderness and they had to look
unto that serpent if they wanted to live. This is what God told
Moses that he had to do. That serpent was a picture of
Christ and when we look at this it may make us scratch our heads
and why would God picture Christ as a serpent? We see Christ pictured
in the Bible as a lamb and a lion and as an eagle and even an ox. But here he is pictured as a
snake that is because of what we see over in 2 Corinthians
chapter 5. Look at 2 Corinthians chapter
5 if you will. 2 Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 21. Notice, for he hath made him,
speaking of Christ, to be sin for us who knew no sin, that
we might be made the righteousness of God You see, the Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, when He was put onto that cross of Calvary and
those nails were put through His hands and through His feet,
and as He's hanging there, and as He's dying that cruel death,
understand that He took the sins of the world on Himself. Just as the serpent was raised
up in the wilderness, understand as the Bible says, so must the
son of man be lifted up. He was placed on that cross of
Calvary. That blood was shed, not because he had committed
sin, but because I had, and because you had. Well, I wasn't even
living during that time. When the Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ said it is finished, He paid for every sin, past, present,
and future. And He did that so that you would
have the opportunity. Think about this. He did that
2,000 years ago so that you would have the opportunity to trust
Him as your Savior. And so that I would have the
opportunity. Why would He do that? For God so loved the world. Because He loves you. And He
loves me. Even though we're unlovable. You see, the serpent is the vilest
creature on planet earth. And that's exactly what Christ
had to become for us. He had to put that sin upon Himself. And the sins of the world being
upon Him, His own Father had to look away. But he did that
for me and you. He's the deliverer of the Christmas
message. You say, well, Luke chapter 2,
there's no words in red there. Everything you need to know about
why he came is found in John chapter 3 and verse 16. Notice
what was used to write the message. You see, ink is something that's
within every single pen. I have a pen here in my pocket,
and as you write with this pen, you're going to find that there's
black ink inside of this. This pen's going to run out at
some point, or it's going to dry up, or like most pens, it's
going to get lost. It'll be found in the bottom
of a sofa somewhere, or behind some cushion, or behind some
refrigerator that hasn't been pulled out in 30 years. But either
way, something's going to happen to this pen. illustration I had
used I know quite a while ago some of you may have heard it
some of you may not have heard it but when I was a little boy
I was sitting in church I took a pen apart and I wanted to see
how close I could get that ink to the end of that pen so I'm
sucking on this pen as a little boy and all of a sudden I get
this nasty taste in my mouth. I get up and I go to the bathroom
there at the back of church and as I walk up to the bathroom
and I Show my teeth. They were no longer the white
that they were before service. They were navy blue. It took
a while for that to come off. I couldn't hide that from anyone,
amen? But there was ink there. I wanted
to get that ink out of there. It seemed like it was permanent,
but eventually that ink was gone. Awful taste, I will never forget.
that taste. And I'll never do that again.
Amen. I learned my lesson. But ink is something that oftentimes
we'll use it so that so that it will last. You write a letter
or a card and years down the road, eventually, it may fade
a little bit, but there are many people, and even I have some,
letters from different people, cards from different ones that
have passed on now, and I can still open that up and I can
read their writing, things that they had wrote to me years ago,
and it's a wonderful thing to be able to do that. But the reality is this, ink
that we're talking about, we had the deliverer of the message
was Christ, the ink that he used was not some ink that was manufactured
by man, but yet the blood out of his own body to write the
gospel of Jesus Christ. Why would Christ shed his blood
for us for what we see in John 3.16? For God so loved the world. I want you to look at Isaiah
chapter nine, if you will. Isaiah chapter nine. Here in Isaiah chapter nine and
verse six, let's find all through this passage
different mentions of the blood of Christ. You find it in verse
14, also in verse 2 and verse 6 and verse 7, all throughout
this passage. But here in verse 6 is what we'll
read. We see this, Isaiah 9 and verse 6. For unto us a child
is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon
his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful. Isn't God wonderful? the counselor, the mighty God,
the everlasting Father, the Prince. You see, when we study this verse
here, we find God's timeline of events as well. We see that
this child is born. This is the body of Christ. This is the son of God that is
born. The son is given this death and
burial and resurrection of Christ. Understand, then we see the government
shall be upon his shoulder, the millennial reign of Christ. And
God had a plan for everything that he had done, everything
that he's written down in this book. Understand God wrote these
things for a purpose, for a plan. And understand he has you here
today hearing about the gospel of Jesus Christ, not because
of some, well, it was just some coincidence or whatever it may
be. No, with God, there are no coincidences. Maybe you're here
today and you've never trusted Christ as your Savior. Understand
that Jesus Christ loves you and he shed his blood to die for
you. He wants you to go to heaven. It doesn't matter what you've
done in your past. Understand the Bible says, for God so loved
the world. That's every one of us. Every
one of us have sinned. You need to trust Christ today.
And the Bible tells us here that his name shall be called Wonderful,
Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince
of Peace. Maybe you're here today and there's
no peace in your life. Simply because you haven't trusted
Christ as your Savior. You can trust Him today. Aren't you glad that if you've
trusted Christ as your Savior, that your name is written in
the book of life and it can never be faded out? The book will always
be there. Your name will always be there
because you're secure in the hand of God. That should be something
that we as believers should get excited about it and we should
praise the Lord for. But if you're here and you've
never trusted Christ, understand your name is not written in that
book. But it can be. All you have to
do is trust Christ as your personal Savior. All you have to do is trust that
the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died for your sins. was buried and rose from the
grave three days later. Repent of your sins. Trust Him
as your personal Savior. Christ humbled Himself to be
born of a virgin. He was held in His mother's arms. He humbled Himself to the body
of a helpless baby robed in flesh. Let's not forget
that that flesh would someday be pierced with a crown of thorns
and with a cat of nine tails. with nails through his hands
and through his feet and he'd hang upon the cross to taste
death for you and me. It's because of the blood of
Christ that our sins can be blotted out. The blood of Christ is the
only thing powerful enough and miraculous enough to take a black
heart like yours and mine that is just blackened with sin and
you pour that red blood from Christ on that and it turns as
white as snow. We sing the song, what can wash
away my sins? Nothing. but the blood of Jesus. That's the message. Of Christmas. So we see the deliverer of the
message. We see the ink used to write the message. Lastly,
I want us to see here the clarity of the message, you know. There
are many people that will say, well, the Bible is just too hard
to understand. There may be some passages that
you read through and you say, you know, I'm just not quite
sure what that means. Join the club. You read through
the book of Ezekiel and some things in the book of Revelation,
you're going to sit there and scratch your head and say, Lord,
you've got to help me with this because I have no idea what that
means. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out John
chapter 3 and verse 16. For God so loved the world. Who's
the world? That's you and me. This God that
we're talking about is not just some old man upstairs like people
talk about. It's a very God of heaven. The
almighty God. So he loves us and he gave his
only begotten son. And it doesn't give you a long
list of things that you have to do in order to be saved. It
says that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but
have everlasting life. You see the Bible, the King James
Version Bible is written at an eighth grade reading level. It's
not a clarity issue, understand this, it's a laziness issue in
many people's lives. People don't wanna read today.
People don't wanna put in that work. There's no excuse for us
to say that John 3.16 is unclear. This is the message of Christmas
and it's unbelievably clear. When a person comes to the end
of their life they are going to one of two places. They're
either going to heaven or they're going to hell. It's one of those
two. It's either going to be everlasting
life in heaven with God for all eternity and with your loved
ones that have passed on and went to heaven. Or if you never
trust Christ, you will be in hellfire for all eternity. It's
those two outcomes. There is no middle ground. If
a person refuses to trust Christ as their personal savior, They
will die and go to hell, but that's not the desire of God. The Bible tells us that he is
not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
God doesn't want anyone to go to hell. God wants everyone to
go to heaven. And you may say, well, how do
you know that? Because he gave his own son for that cause. He
loves us so much. He loves each and every one of
us as sinful human beings, ones that have mocked him, ones that
have just habitually lied and taken his name in vain and all
of those things. He loves us so much. And he said,
I'm going to send my son to die for those people so they don't
have to burn for an eternity in a place that I've created
for the devil. He doesn't want you to go there. He wants you to go to heaven.
And he lays it out so simply for us in John chapter three
in verse 16. All you have to do is accept
him here in John three 16 for God
so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. You've heard the message of Christmas,
but can I ask you a question here today? Have you received the message
of Christmas? We're all going to go throughout this holiday,
and I want you to picture this as a gift wrapped up, ready to
go. People are going to come to us,
and they're going to have gifts for us, and we're going to have
gifts for them. We've worked hard on them. Some
things are going to be homemade. Some things are going to be ordered
in next day shipping from Amazon. That's modern day persecution
of the church right there. Amen. It's just so hard to wait
for a whole day to have our packages delivered. Either way, whether
it's homemade or whether it's just delivered in, you've put
some thought into something you're going to give to someone. What
if you took that gift and you walked up to someone You're all
excited about it. And you said, you know what?
I've I've prepared this. Brother Sean, I have a gift for
you. And I walk up and I go to hand it to him and he. Says,
I don't want that. Why'd you give me that? Don't
you know there's other things that I need? Don't you know that I have other
plans for my life? I want that thing. Who do you
think you are giving me that? You may say, well, that would
be awfully rude of Brother Sean. He was going to take a songbook
from me, amen? But if you've never trusted Christ
and you leave here today after hearing the message of Christmas
and hearing exactly what God has prepared for you, it's just
as though God has a gift prepared. And he says, I've given my own
son for this so that your sins would be forgiven. have a gift
for you. And if you walk out this door
without accepting that gift, it would be just as rude as somebody
else saying, I don't want that. But I've, I've put time into
this. I, I thought about what you need,
and I've prepared it for you. I don't
want it. That's what you do to God every
time you reject his message. Understand that God has given
every one of us the opportunity over and over again to trust
him as our personal savior. But there's an awful lot of people
that have said, not today. I don't want that. given the
gospel to people before and they've said, why do I need that when
I have all this? You want to say, all of this
is going to belong to someone else someday. Someday you're
going to pass from this life and none of this is going with
you. But people reject Him. Don't
reject God today. Open that gift, accept Christ
today. If you trust Christ as your personal Savior, understand
coming to God on His terms, He will give you everlasting life. If you have received the message
and you've trusted in Him rather than spreading the world's message
of Christmas, why don't we as believers spread the true message
of Christmas? We're in the midst of a generation that's full of
people who literally have no idea what Christmas is all about. Let's tell them how much God
loves them, how much He cares for them, that He gave His Son
for them. You see, that's the message of
Christmas, illustrated in John 3, in verse 16.
