Simeon's Salvation

130 ( 80 | 50 )

In Luke chapter 2 we meet a man called Simeon.
Simeon was a man waiting. He was waiting with godly patience as he was looking for the Messiah.
We know very little about Simeon, we don't know his age, some people think that he was quite old when he saw Jesus but we really don't know.
Simeon saw the Lord Jesus as a baby when Joseph and Mary took Jesus into the Temple at Jerusalem.
Joseph and Mary brought Jesus to Jerusalem where he was presented to the Lord and where the sacrifices according to the Jewish law were made.
According to the law of Moses every Jewish mother who gave birth to a son or daughter had to offer sacrifices to God. One was a burnt offering and one was a sin offering. You can find this in Leviticus 12.

If you read Luke 2.21- 24 you will find that Mary and Joseph came to the Temple in Jerusalem to offer their sacrifices.

Simeon was a Jew who was one of the faithful few that were looking for the Messiah that had been promised through the prophets and in the scriptures.
He was a man that believed God's word and looked for God's promises to be fulfilled.

The Bible says that he was a devout man and he was waiting for the consolation of Israel. The consolation of Israel was the messianic hope of the Jewish nation. Simeon was hoping to see the Messiah of Israel.

Hundreds of years before God had used his prophets to foretell the birth of Christ.

If you're a Christian then you should be just like Simeon. We should be walking with God and we should be led by God.

Simeon believed the Promises of God and Simeon walked in the will of God and Simeon was directed by the Spirit of God, and therefore he saw the Son of God.
