- Many in the church today forget the true nature of their fallen condition. (The problem)
- Because of our inability, our ONLY hope is that God would declare us "right" [forensic justification] with Him. (The Correction)
a. God's outpouring of unmerited favor has a specific object in mind.
• Justification requires the paying of the debt.
• Justification requires the appeasing of the offense [propitiation]. (Colossians 1:21-23)
• Justification requires the trusting of the promise.
b. God's outpouring of unmerited favor has a specific outcome. (1 Timothy 1:15) - We MUST acknowledge God's divine justice if we are to declare his gospel. (The Follow-Through)
