What a Stench…

What a Stench…

Why do bad relationships smell and leave such a bad taste in our mouths?

Relationships are organic so they smell when they die. Rotten things stink.

Relationships are organic... And they're either, growing, stunted, declining, bearing fruit, starving, dying, or rotting.

No matter how gracious a king may be... 2 Samuel 10 — they do not tolerate their ambassadors being mocked in the streets. And no wall can keep them out or hide you from their wrath.

No king, including King Jesus, takes lightly the mistreatment of their messengers. The consequences of shaming, mocking, and ridiculing a personal messenger of a king can lead to the fall and destruction of your own people and kingdom Revelation 6.

Question for you... have you ever seen a piece of wood rust? No! Why is that? Wood can't rust... it's not possible, but it will rot.

Metals rust but wood rots... because living things don't rust, they rot away.

That's right, living things, organic things, rot and waste away and become foul in the process. And because relationships are living and organic they must be nourished and cherished so they don't rot and become foul to you and everyone involved. And if Jesus was able to resurrect a stinking dead man, like Lazarus, whose flesh had been dead and rotting for four days, He can resurrect your marriage and the stinking relationships you may have with others. Let Him reestablish the value of that relationship, and give you the grace needed to maintain it and the sweet joy to invest in what has been neglected in the past. You can complain about it or you can cherish it... but you can't effectively do both at the same time.
