#6 - God Hears You

Introduction

1. Who do we pray to?

   • God the Father

2. What is the condition (attached to the promises)

• 1 John 5:14-15 - "according to His will..."

  • Can we pray boldly for our daily bread?
  • Can we boldly ask God that we might win the lottery...?
  • ...what if we promise to give the winnings to missions?
  • Can we pray for the dead?
  • Can a husband pray whether to leave his wife and take up with another woman?
  • What if we don't know for certain what God's will is?

• John 14:13-14 - "...in My name..."

  • To pray what Jesus would pray if He was present

3. How can I know if I am praying according to God's will?

• Mark 11:24, Matt 21:21-22 - Faith
• John 15:7 - Trusting in Christ
• John 15:7, 15:7, James 2:20 - Words of Christ having an effect in your life
• Ps 34:15, Prov 15:29, 1 Jn 3:22 - Righteous

Summary: We can only be confident of praying "according to His will" when we are abiding in Him
