Mortification of Sin (11) - Sin Rooted in Natural Temperament

Some irreverently attempt to excuse themselves from their sinfulness by exaggerating certain aspects of their natural disposition and blaming it on those things. In truth, the kindling and nourishment of sin that remains in our natural temperament has been in us since we were originally corrupted in the fall. David counts his being made and conceived in sin as a thing that aggravated his sin which followed (Ps. 51:5). But he certainly does not use that fact to lessen or excuse the guilt of it.
