Sing and Make Music
Series Biblical Worship
Singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs is not an option; it's a command. God clearly wants us to draw near to him with music in our hearts. But the place of music in the church's worship today can be confusing. Should we sing to attract and entertain unbelievers as some suggest? Or because our singing pleases God? Should we sing only psalms? Or are psalms and hymns both okay? And what about contemporary praise songs? Should we sing with instruments or without? And is there a place for choirs and smaller choral groups to sing in worship that is pleasing to God? Spurgeon said, "We want more singing. Sing more and murmur less, sing more and slander less, sing more and cavil less, sing more and mourn less." These are some of the questions Pastor Ray tackles in this sermon.
