Let Us Eat & Be Merry
Series Parable of the Prodigal Son
In this last part of the Parable we see that the father wanted everyone in his household to eat and to be merry. He wanted them to do this because, he said, this son of mine was dead and he is now alive again. He had been lost, but now he has been found again. What should these statements of the father mean to us here today?
Should there be celebration, joy, and even mirth in the house of the Lord when a prodigal sinner returns to God the Father and is saved from his sins by a true repentance? The answer is surely – Absolutely! There ought to be great joy and merriment over a sinner who repents. When he says in his heart – Make me, O Lord, like one of your hired servants.
