Dear friends, let me explain one or two things here from this psalm. It's full of instruction. It speaks about a building being built. It speaks about a house being built, a home being built, a temple being built, a church being built, a family being built. It says there is a way that it could be built that is in vain. There's a way that We can build something that is actually not going to be worthwhile. It is not going to be lasting. It will be foolish. It will be empty. But if the Lord builds it, that's something else. So it says, except the Lord build the house. And so you can think about this church. It's not about numbers. It's about God being in our midst. It's not about just people. It's about the Lord working in our hearts. And so we need to pray. That's why we gather to pray. That's why we pray at home. Lord, build thy church. Yes, he uses people, he uses individuals, but it's of his doing. So we don't take the glory at all. We don't take the glory for the kind of preaching that takes place or anything that we do. we are to be put on one side. If we become proud, if we think of ourselves in any high way, it is the Lord will humble us. The Lord can take away everything in a very short time. So let us always give Him the glory. And the same applies in your home. Who is building your home? Is it the Lord? Is it you? You're trying. to fix things, and you're trying to do things, and it's all very busy. You think, oh, I need to have a home like this, to have this. Are you trying to build your home the way the world is? All the activities, all the planning, all the things that go on, and you think, well, that's how the world is building their home. This is how I would build as well. You follow, and so you're busy with this and that and the other thing. Where is your interest more? I want God to build my house. I want God to be in charge. And so how is a city built? How is a country built? How is a nation built? It must be of the Lord. And then so it goes on speaking about the activities of individuals and the worries of the individuals. And then speaks about the children. Children are heritage of God. Children are to be looked upon as blessings, not as a curse, not as a just of something that the way the world looks at them. Well, they are difficulties in our lives. The children are born within the holy matrimony, the marriage, They are blessings from God. Don't look at them, don't speak of them as being curses, difficulties, challenges. They're the heritage of the Lord. The fruit of the womb is God's reward, blessings of God. It's the Lord who opens the womb, it's the Lord who closes the womb. And then speaks about arrows. as arrows are in the hand of a mighty man. What's this talking about? It's talking about the situation of a war, this mighty man of valor, this Israelite who's to go into battle. Did he go to the shop to buy arrows? Was there arrows factory in those days? No. For you to go into battle, you make your own arrows. How do you make it? You make sure it's straight. You keep at it. You keep examining it, testing it, making sure it is going to hit the mark, hit the target. So you take care. Who is going to carve out your arrows? Who will do it for you? Are you going to set the standards by the way the world does it? Let the world do it for you? Or you're going to Keep working on these arrows, however many the Lord has given to you. You bring them before God, one of the ways of sharpening them, straightening them. The Lord has to do it. You need wisdom from God. So here is something. Happy is the man, it says, that hath his quiver full of them. However many the Lord gives you to be a blessing. And so in this context of war, saying that this amount that you have, you ought to be happy with all these arrows that you have in your quiver. And so it is that the Lord would bless us. So dear friends, who is working in your life? Who is in charge of the way you think, Are you comparing yourself with somebody else? Are you looking down on other people and say, look at these people? Are you thinking to yourself, you've done really well? My friends, let us look to the Lord. And here, let us pray to God. Lord, build our homes, build our church, work in our lives. Well, may the Lord bless these thoughts to us. Let's pray.
