1. God keeps His promises

2. The humbling reminder that sinful nature runs deep

• The perfect bloodline...?
• Sinful nature runs deeper than blood.
• It takes more than a good example to bring us to God...grace!

3. God value people who are not necessarily valued by others

• The women - Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba
• Tamar - a scandalous lady
• Rahab
  • the heathen harlot and liar shown grace by God
  • 'a women of faith' Heb 11:31
• Ruth
  • the Moabitess
  • afforded great honour
• Bathsheba - the adulteress

Conclusion

• God's grace is going to come through Jesus
• Matthew shows that God has always shown grace to people
