Staying Faithful in the Face of Suffering

The central truth we find in these three verses is that surviving temptation, suffering, and persecution demands that we constantly remind ourselves who Jesus is, what He did, and why He did it. The writer of Hebrews communicates this central truth by drawing our attention to three things:

1. God preserved Old Testament believers for everlasting life by the reality of His promise existing in them as faith
2. God will preserve us for everlasting life by the reality of His promise fulfilled in the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ
3. God will keep us from getting weary and discouraged by the truth of who Jesus is, what He did, and why He did it.
