Deception by Empty Words

The way we are protected from being deceived by empty words is by bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. There is no truth outside of Jesus, which means the starting place for knowing the truth about everything entails being in relationship with Him. However, the fruit of being in relationship with Jesus is that we believe everything Scripture tells us about Him and that we live our lives by His every command. Everything that deflects us from this is deception. The way we can be confident that we are not being deceived by empty words is when we trust only in and bow to Scripture.
