The Messiah's Power
Series Series in Genesis
56
Aim: To be employing Christ's power, for His glory.
The necessity of a powerful Messiah: without one, there is no salvation or justice.
Exegesis: The characteristics of a powerful Messiah: He does not pervert His privileges (vv. 1-4), He does not delight in violence (vv. 5-7), He possesses courage and boldness (vv. 8-9), and His very person commands homage (v. 10).
Further application: How we are to respect the Messiah's power: first, by bowing to it, in love; then, by employing it, in faith.
Key verse: v. 10 ''The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people.''
