Good evening, everybody. Thank you so much for coming out tonight. Wonderful to be together. This is like our Lord's night for the month of November. Also, this is like our Thanksgiving banquet. Instead of having turkey, we're having fries. And we are looking forward to the dessert social afterwards. So thank you for coming, and please do stay afterwards tonight. We've got some wonderful desserts downstairs. And fellowship is such an important part of our life in Christ. I'd like to begin the concert tonight with a scripture reading from Psalm 96. Oh, sing to the Lord a new song. Sing to the Lord all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless his name. Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among the peoples. For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols. but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him. Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples. Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name. Bring an offering and come to His courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness. Tremble before Him, all the earth. Say among the nations, the Lord reigns. He will judge the peoples with equity. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice. Let the sea roar, and all that fills it. Let the field exult, and everything in it. Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for He comes. He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness, and the peoples in His faith. Bow your heads with me for a word of prayer. Father, we thank you for gathering us together in the name of Jesus. We thank you for opening the eyes of our heart to be able to see and understand that he is the son of God, that he is the one who has come to be the savior of the world as the lamb of God. Thank you that as we gather in his name, our hearts are filled with love and joy as we fellowship with you and with your son. Father, thank you for bringing Kevin and Heidi here tonight and for the musical gifts that you have given to them. Lord, for all of the gifts that you distribute among the body, we recognize that they are from you. That we are only different from one another because of your will, because of your pleasure. We only have the skills and the talents that we have because you have designed us to be able to love and serve others. And so may Kevin and Heidi's heart be filled with your Holy Spirit to be able to love and serve us with the gifts and the talents that you have given to them tonight. And may all of us receive that blessing that is from your hand. and to enter into worship together with them, so that you might be pleased in this evening, and that our hearts might be encouraged and strengthened in the grace that is found in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Once again, thank you for coming, and it's my pleasure to introduce here tonight, Kevin and Heidi Chang. Great privilege to be here with you this evening. Thank you for coming. We're so glad. Hopefully no one hit a deer on the way here. Hopefully no one will hit a deer on the way home. And we are, we see so many familiar faces here and someone who traveled 60 miles away to come here. Thank you for being here this evening. We are going to be featuring So currently, Kevin and I are teaching at a Bible college called Frontier School of the Bible in Range, Wyoming. If you don't know where that is, that's okay. We'll fill you in on that. And while we've been there, Kevin's been sitting at the piano between all his piano lessons and scribbling on paper. And so we're gonna play you some of those scribbles. And... These are his hymn arrangements. So enjoy. We're going to invite you to sing along with some of them also. So the format looks like this. We'll have one instrumental opening. And when Heidi starts singing, we'll follow the word along and then sing one verse. And then after one verse, we'll do two more instrumental verse to close up the hymn. So to start, the first one we're going to do is, What a Friend We Have in Jesus. And this, I'm going to read from John 15, verse 13-15, Jesus said, Great love has no one than this to lay down one's life for one's friend. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends for everything that I just learned from my Father I have made known to you. So we'll invite you to see what a friend we have in Jesus. The words are going to be up on the screen, but if you'd like to sing in parts or sing from a hymnal, the hymn number will also be, and it is hymn number 630, am I correct? Yeah, the words will not be on the screen, but the hymnal number 630. Number 630, okay, fantastic. What a friend we are Everything to God in prayer. Oh, the peace we often forfeit. Oh, the needless pain we bear. All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. StSq2 2.60 Yeah. StSq2 2.60 do we have in Jesus? And what we love about praise and worship with believers is that no matter what we see, no matter what's going on around us, and I was reading, and I know I've shared this story before, but the prison letters of Corrie Ten Boom, and she would see, when she was in solitary confinement, she didn't know if the next day she would live or not, or which concentration camp she was going to. And so, but in the midst of it all, because she had a heart that was secure in Jesus, she sang. And so we can sing also together, no matter what. The next one we're doing is Holy, Holy, Holy, and the scripture I'm reading from is Revelation 4, 8-11. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with ice all around, even under its wings. Day and night, they never stopped saying, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever, the 24 elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him. They laid their crown before the throne, and said, You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power. For You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being. This is one of my personal favorite verses. I always joke with people. Verse 8 says these angelic beings worship God one hour a week, Sunday morning, 10 to 11. Well, whenever I think about the fact that this perfect, sinless, angelic being, when they, even in their perfectness and in absolute perfect state, when they gaze upon the glory of the Lord and just see how glorious and how holy He is, they fall down on their knees. And their worship isn't just one hour a week, but every single moment, day and night, they never stop worshiping Him. So we invite you to sing, holy, holy, holy. StSq3 3.30 (-0.99)" so so Almighty. Early in the morning thy song shall rise with me. Holy, holy, holy. Merciful and mighty. God in three persons. Blessed Trinity. StSq3 3.30 (-0.99)" StSq2 2.60 I appreciate everything Kevin is sharing in the scripture to go with it. And I know you might have heard him in concert before and his testimony, but I'm going to share it in brief because he has a lot of other great stories to share tonight. But he is originally from Taiwan, coming from a big country of 24 million. He came to Nebraska Christian in Kearney, Nebraska when he thought he was coming to New York City. And he met a farmer who took interest in him, invested time in him, took him out hunting. Every time you took him out, honey, you told him about Jesus, developed a relationship with Kevin. So Kevin got to see visually what love looks like and then hear how love was laid out through Jesus. And so that is how he came to know Jesus. And the next hymn we're going to do is Day by Day, and the scripture I'm reading from is Matthew 6, 25-26. Jesus said, Therefore I told you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. It is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes. Look at the birds of the air. They do not sow or reap or store away wines, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? if you would like to sing along. And I just want to share a brief story. So, Psalm 127 talks about, unless the Lord builds the house, the builder labor in vain, and the watchman stay up in vain, stay up late in vain. And it's a vivid reminder when I think about him day by day trusting the Lord to provide So, like Heidi mentioned, I came to know the Lord through hunting, and I'm still very passionate about hunting. Last year, Heidi and I took off two weeks of hunting. We never had two weeks off continuously. Even throughout that two weeks, we still work, but we actually intend to cut two weeks of all the places we travel into close to home so that I can hunt really hard for two weeks. And thinking about just how, unless the Lord builds a house, the builder labor in bed, It took us two weeks to fill our time, because we worked too hard to prepare. And yet, this year, as we are ministering music, doing ministry at Frontier School of the Bible, I told Heidi, I just feel like this year, teaching these kids music is even more important. And so we never did took off a single day, but we signed a contract with the secular organization to come play music in the middle of November. After we were done playing for that job, we had to honor the contract, and the next day I told Heidi, well, we have Friday off, we might as well go give it a shot. We went home. Within the first hour, I got my beer. And so I bought a permit because the next day is Saturday, and Saturday I went out again, and within an hour of first thing in the morning, I got a second beer. And I just think about how the Lord is the one that ultimately provided. I did absolutely nothing. I did no preparation. And we almost blocked off no time to go hunting. And yet, the little itty-bitty bit of time that we put in, the Lord gave us plenty of blessings. So anyway, it was just a little side story. So here is day by day. So... Day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by day, in the fresh passing moments, day by ♪ He whose love is heavy of compassion ♪ ♪ Is unto each a worthy confessor ♪ ♪ On your knees for a bit of pleasure ♪ ♪ Be lift up with peace and rest ♪ ♪ Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh ♪ There's something about singing the praises of Jesus that make him unforgettable. have witnessed and played in front of so many audiences where they don't remember who you are, they don't remember what their situation is, possibly not even their name. But when you start singing to them, they remember that. So, I don't know, but it makes me think, maybe I should sing a little bit more. Because someday, when I can't remember anything else, I want to remember this. And I want to be a witness for Jesus even when I have no control over my mind any longer. And so filling our mind with these things is going to spill out into our life later on. So Kevin and I have the privilege of being at Frontier School of the Bible, which is a wonderful Bible school. We participate in chapel. We do a mix of modern and hymns during chapel time. And there's been a hymn that's been requested multiple times because it's been passed down through the generations. I think you'll recognize it right away. This is In the Garden. I come to you now in your voice, and I do wish to hear from your voice. To hear the voice, I hear, O Lord, I hear, the Son of man disclosed. with me, and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own. Through joy we share as each day we live, none other has our love. 2A 3.30 x (-0.001') 3F 5.83 x (-0.001') So, what is Frontier School of the Bible? I'm curious, how many of you have heard of Frontier School of the Bible before? Okay, a few. So it's in a little town called LaGrange, Wyoming, seven miles over the Nebraska border. It's been in existence since the 1960s, and still to this day, with a growing student body there, solely dedicated to the word of God. They have everywhere from a one-year to a three-year program equipping pastors, youth ministers, children's ministry workers, camp workers, all over the United States. There are over 100 churches asking them for pastors, they aren't able to fill the quota, which is also what Kevin and I are here is to invite you to consider checking Frontier School in the Bible. Now, if you're in an age where you don't know where the next step of your life is, maybe and studying the Bible a year, figuring out what His path would be, and then considering if God would have a call on your life for ministry, that harvest is truly plentiful. The next one we're doing is How Firm a Foundation is in Rodino, 408. And the passage I'm reading from is Luke 6, 46-49. Jesus said, why do you call me Lord and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house who dug down deep and laid a foundation of rock. When the flood came, the Torah struck that house but could not shake it because it was well built. But the one who hears my word and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the Torah struck that house, it collapsed, and its destruction was complete. So, ♪ He sings of the Lord ♪ ♪ It is made for your faith ♪ ♪ In his excellent Word ♪ ♪ What more can he say than to you he has said ♪ ♪ To you who for man have yielded Jesus have fled ♪ Yeah. So, So, There was a hidden treasure in there, and Kevin wants to know if you heard what the hidden treasure was. And just to let you know, there's going to be more hidden treasures as we go along, meaning melodies hidden inside them that we're not going to tell you about. Did anybody catch when the music gets intense, where did that music come from? So as the music in the middle gets intense, the marshal draws out his gun and shoots. So that in the middle is the opening theme from Gunsmoke. And then at the end, the last two verses, when we play just the instrumental, you hear this melody. That's the closing theme for Don't Smoke. And it tells you which TV show you really enjoy. And every time I watch it, they replay that melody as the show goes on. And so I couldn't get the melody out of my head. So I went through the hymnal and found one that the chord matches 100%. But anyway, so just like Heidi said, there's a couple more later that we're going to do that has a similar theme going through. But the next one we're doing is Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus. This is 581. In the scripture I'm reading from is John 11, 25 to 26. Jesus said to Martha, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die. And whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this? This comes from the story Jesus raised Lazarus from the grave. And the reason I want to draw this particular verse to this song is because this hymn was was missionary back in the 1880s, and when she and her husband were on furlough at the beach one day, the husband saw a boy drowning, and so the husband jumped into the ocean trying to save the boy, and in the process of doing so, at that very tragic moment, wrote this hymn that we're singing today, "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus." It gives such a hope to a believer, knowing that if their loved one know Christ, they will see them one day. But the world does not have this hope that we have when we give our life and when we put our trust in Jesus. So even though it was a tragedy for Louisa's death, yes, she wrote a hymn that even till today we're still singing. ♪ Tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle, tickle ♪ ♪ Just to take Him at His word ♪ ♪ Just to rest upon His promise ♪ ♪ Just to know and serve the Lord ♪ ♪ Jesus, Jesus, how I trust You ♪ ♪ How I prove it more and more ♪ ♪ Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus ♪ ♪ Jessica ♪ StSq2 2.60 Yeah. so so and we just have to recognize a special friend who we saw walk through the door and is sitting in the back. And throughout our time here in the Lincoln area, he and his wife have been so good to us. And we're just so thankful to see them here tonight. So thank you for driving over from Lincoln and being here tonight. And we appreciate his ministry. He doesn't let anything hold him back, and he's still sharing Jesus with everyone he can. So speaking of someone who can tell you about Jesus in 60 seconds, just go ask It's okay. And this one, we're just going to do instrumental, because I put it in a key that's a little too high to sing. So it's 128, if you want to follow along. And the scripture I'm going to read from is Isaiah 40, verse 26. Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens. Who created all these? And then, present but a little obscure, Amazing Grace was going at the same time as The Rifleman. At this time, before we finish with our last two, we'd like to invite Pastor Tim up for a Thanksgiving message. have our Thanksgiving here in the United States. Thanksgiving has always been towards the top of my list, maybe not always, more recently been towards the top of my list of favorite holidays because it's one of the least encumbered holidays. One of the ones that seems to keep its focus most out of all the different holidays that get so many things added in among them. As you drive through the state and visiting different places, it is wonderful to see the fields that were once filled with corn and a few other crops, harvested and empty. And to be able to see that another year, another harvest, God's grace has been shown once again to our great nation. As we think about the harvest year after year, sometimes it might be easy for us to think that everything is just fine. that God must be quite pleased with us Americans because we're so blessed. We have good health, and a strong military, and fields full of grain, and everything seems to be just going along swimmingly. But the scripture tells us that God is a gracious God, and that we should not presume upon his grace, but that not only has God been very faithful in giving us harvests, but that God also has made clear that mankind has a deep problem, that there is an evil that is in the world that must be remedied, and that each one of us has to face and deal with. What I'm talking about is what the Scripture calls sin. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and that the penalty for sin is death. As we look at the seasons and we see them come and go, we might start to think that death is just a natural part of the world and that it's always been there. But no, the scripture makes it clear that God did not create us to die. But that death has entered into the world because of sin. And so, the Word of God has gone out and has invited all mankind to return to the God who gives us the harvest. To return to God who has given us every blessing that we give thanks for during the holiday season. And that God has made it possible for us to not only enjoy His grace through the physical means displayed in His faithfulness in the harvest, but to be able The passage that I thought of today as I was reflecting on what I am most thankful for is 1 John chapter 1. And I'd like to read the first seven verses of 1 John chapter 1 tonight. The scripture says, that which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life, The life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testified to it, and proclaimed to you the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was made manifest to us. That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us. And indeed, our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son, Jesus Christ. And we are writing these things to you, that our joy may be complete, This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with Him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of His Son cleanses us from all sin. John the Apostle is the one who is writing these things and he is writing about Jesus of Nazareth. That Jesus Christ was born, as we will be celebrating shortly after Thanksgiving with the Christmas holiday, that He was born as no ordinary person. but that He was eternally existent, that He was from the beginning, as it says here in 1 John 1, verse 1. And that when Jesus Christ came into the world, the disciples of Christ, the disciples of Jesus, looked upon Him, they touched Him with their hands, they ate together, and they were eating with the Word of Life. That is quite a profound statement. The life was made manifest. We have seen it and testified to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, Jesus Christ, who was with the Father and has been made manifest to us. This is the greatest gift that mankind has been given. This is the greatest grace that God has shown towards us in that He has given us His Son, Jesus Christ. And why has God given us His Son, Jesus Christ? It is so that we can have fellowship with God. Fellowship with God is the most precious possession. It is the most precious treasure. It is eternal life. As Jesus Christ himself said, this is eternal life that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Fellowshiping with him, knowing him, having that personal relationship with God, that is what we have to give thanks for above all else. And how is it possible to have fellowship with God? How is it possible? our sins forgiven. This passage makes that clear as well. It says, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us. He says, if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. Jesus Christ is the unique Son of God, who has existed for all eternity. He came into this world as a man so that He could shed His blood to pay for our sins. We talked earlier about sharing the gospel in 60 seconds. Well, you can all do it in 10 seconds. You can all tell others that Jesus Christ came into the world to shed His blood for your sins. That is the very essence, the very heart of the gospel. And that is the good news that makes fellowship with God possible for those of us who have fallen out of fellowship because of our sins. We who have been separated in our relationship from God because of our sin can have that relationship restored. Not through religious good works, not through joining a church, not through baptism, but through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, And that He died for your sins. And that God raised Him from the dead. You are saved. And you enter into a relationship with the God who has created the world, and the God who has been gracious to us year after year, in giving us harvest after harvest. That is the fellowship that our guests tonight, Kevin and Heidi, have been singing about. That's the fellowship that has brought them the joy. That's what it says there. we share these things with you so that our joy may be complete. And the fellowship that Kevin and Heidi have with the Father, it's not because of any good works that they have done, but it's because of the grace of God and Jesus Christ, and we want every one of you to have that same grace. We want every one of you to enjoy that same fellowship. And to take that good news, and to share it with others during this holiday season. As you get together with family at Thanksgiving, as you get together with family at Christmas, as you go to the stores and talk with strangers, Every opportunity you get, look for that chance to talk about the eternal life that was with the Father and has been made manifest to us. Talk about the blood of Jesus Christ that can cleanse us from all sin and invite others into that sweet fellowship with God that we ourselves are enjoying. God is to be thanked. God is to be praised. And the essence of thanksgiving goes far beyond the fields that have been harvested far beyond the good health that we enjoy and the families that we have, but His eternal life and knowing God. Let us give thanks to God for that, together tonight and throughout this whole holiday season. Before we have Kevin and Heidi come back up to share with us their last couple of songs, I want to invite you to consider this message. to spend a time in prayer together with me concerning the fellowship that God wants us to have with Him and with His Son Jesus Christ. And then after our service, you're welcome to join us downstairs for our dessert social. And that'll be a time where we can have that fellowship with one another and have our joy be made full. Also, we would love to thank Kevin and Heidi for coming and support them in their ministry. And so, any offerings that are given in the offering box tonight are going to go to Kevin and Heidi as a love offering for their ministry of music, not only here, but everywhere they go and are sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. So, if you brought something with you tonight, please put it into the offering box after the concert. Throw your heads together with me for a word of prayer. Life and joy. That's what it is that you want for us to have. Lord, the prospect of death looms before all of us. Our ancestors have all lived and died and had their time on this earth. Lord, we also, before long, will pass our days and our years will quickly be spent. And then where will we be? What will become of our souls? Will we enter into your presence? Will we be welcomed into your heavenly kingdom? Or will we be cast out? Father, you have said that you do not delight in the death of anyone, but that you would have every sinner turn and repent, that you would have every sinner return to you and be healed. And so we thank you, Lord God, for the good news of Jesus Christ. We thank you that the Apostle John shared with us what he saw, the time that he spent with Jesus Christ, the conviction that he developed as to who exactly it was who calmed the storm and who fed the 5,000 and who rose from the dead. And that that message has now been proclaimed and brought down to us by your faithful servants now throughout the centuries. And that we can rejoice in it and have that fellowship with you, not just enjoying the music, but enjoying the message, and feeling the truth of it, and rejoicing in it together. So Lord God, strengthen our faith and give us power to be able to share this good news with our family, with our friends, with our neighbors, all throughout this time that you give us. Not only during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but all throughout the year. And every year that we remain here until you call us home or until Christ returns. We pray these things for our good and for your glory. Amen. So we have a couple of specials to finish off with. One, and the very last special, just giving a heads up, anyone who loves to see fast flying fingers can come really close to the piano. But the one before that we wanted to do is very special to us. So at Frontier School of the Bible, about three years ago, there was a tragic accident where two students were killed in a head-on collision. just right outside of the school. And amazingly, the parents of that student, of one of the students, is still there, and they're serving as staff. Even though they're at the place, the location, where it all happened every single day, because of the Lord, they are able to stay. And so we asked, From his mom, the one who passed away, was killed in the crash. He asked his mom what his favorite songs were, and I feel like this is the gospel summed up into a few words. His mercy is warm, and my chains are gone. Yeah. We especially invite the children to come up, crowd around, watch his hands. We're so grateful for you coming tonight. Also, if you have any questions about Frontier School of the Bible, we'd love to share it with you. We will never regret. spending a year studying the word of God. So welcome. Come on up. The young at heart can come close, too. We'd love to see you up here. No pressure, Kevin. No pressure. so so Thank you again for coming, and now you've all really been waiting for the cake downstairs, so we'll look forward to seeing you downstairs. Let's thank Kevin and Heidi one more time. We're going to thank them in person as we meet downstairs.
