And the Lord Appointed

Chapter two of Jonah opens with Jonah praying, as he sinks into the depths of the sea. Jonah has been hurled overboard by his shipmates, per his request. The LORD appoints a fish to swallow Jonah, and he is saved from certain drowning. Jonah in the belly of the fish for three days and nights pictures for us in typology the burial and resurrection of Jesus. One caution about focusing too much about what kind of great fish this was, you might risk missing what our great God is actually doing in Jonah's heart and life.
