sacrifice, but I'm glad that
through Jesus Christ he died once and for all. Right? It's a better sacrifice, right?
He had to sacrifice one time for all. Not just the sins of
those that come after Him, or not just for the sins of those
that lived with Him, but even for the sins of those who were
before Him, He died for those sins. For all sins He died, once
and for all. For then must He often have suffered
since the foundation of the world. But now, once in the end of the
world, He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Do you like that? That He's going
to put away sin with the sacrifice of Himself. I'll tell you that
as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this, the judgment. So Christ was once offered to
bear the sins of many, and unto them that look for Him shall
He appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Listen, I'm telling you what
I don't know, but says that I don't know how we. I don't know how
we are more excited about this, but so Christ was once offered
to bear the sins of many and unto them that look for him. Those that look to him. Those
who trust in him. Those that believe on him. Those
that have put their faith and trust in him. He says, those
that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin. Look, that's not just Him that's
without sin. That's going to be us that's
without sin. Because He's taken our sin. He's
died for our sins. He's taken it away. He said we're
going to look on Him the second time we look upon Him. We're
going to be without sin. Praise the Lord. Right? It's
because of Him. It's not because of no turtle
doves. It's not because of no rams or no goats. It's not because
of no bulls. It ain't because of Joss's chickens.
It ain't because of anything but the Lord Jesus Christ. Right? It's all because of Him. I'm
telling you, without sin, we can live a life now that is without
sin. We are forgiven of our sins,
past, present, and future. We have been forgiven. We have
been atoned for. All because of the blood of Jesus
Christ. The bulls and goats, they could not. cover my sins
once and for all. The bulls and goats, I had to
go back next year. The bulls and goats, I'm telling
you, every year I had to come up with another sacrifice. But
I go to Jesus Christ, and now every year my sins are covered
with Jesus Christ, and I don't even have to go back to Him every
year. Once I'm saved, I'm always saved. Once I put my faith and
trust in Him, I've always got my faith and trust in Him. Look
to the Lord. He's the better sacrifice. He's
the better way. He is the way. He is the truth.
He is the life. There's no man that goes unto
the Father but by Him. I'm telling you, I don't get
there by bulls and goats. I don't get there by any other
animal. I get there through the Lord
Jesus Christ. And He's the only way. Hebrews 10, verse 4, For
it is not possible, it is not possible that the blood of bulls
and goats should take away sins. It's not possible. It's not possible. What they were doing, what the
Old Testament saints were doing, was what God commanded them to
do. But what they were doing, they had to do every year. I
ain't against what they were doing, because they were doing
what they had to do. Because this is what God commanded them
to do. God commanded them to make these sacrifices. And they
made those sacrifices knowing that God had promised that there
will be a Messiah that comes one day. Now, I do have a problem
with those who are still trying to make those sacrifices today.
Because Jesus has already come. He's done away with the sacrifices.
No more need for the sacrifices. You know, you're fighting over
the Temple Mount over there in Israel right now. I'm telling
you, they're fighting with the Muslims trying to take that land
back. They want that land back. They
want it back so they can build them a new temple. I'm telling
you what, the reason why they don't have that land is because
God don't want them to have that land. Because they don't need
to build a new temple. Jesus done away with the temple.
They're going to build that temple one day. They will. They will
finally get their way and build that temple. It might not be
right there where they want to build it, but they're going to
build it one day. But guess what? Those sacrifices they make in
that temple are null and void. They don't mean a thing. Those
sacrifices that they're trying to make right now don't mean
a thing. They do not make them right with
God. He has done away with those sacrifices. And I'm telling you,
aren't you glad to know that you know Jesus Christ, the one
who took away those sacrifices, that we don't no longer have
to take part in those things. I'm glad. The blood of bulls
and goats, they will not take away sins. They will not take
away sins. So it doesn't matter if David
has a hundred bulls and a hundred goats. It doesn't matter if he
has a thousand turtle doves. It doesn't matter if he owns
a zoo with all those things. Those things will not forgive
him of his sins. They will not take away his sins.
Because only Jesus Christ can take away our sins. Only the
blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Hebrews 10, verse 10, it says,
By the witch will we are sanctified through the offering of the body
of Jesus Christ once for all. Listen, we're sanctified through
the body of Jesus Christ once and for all. Covers it all. All to him I owe, right? It covers
it all. And every priest standeth daily
ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices which can
never take away sins. Listen, they're in there. Priests.
They're wanting to build the temple so they can start sacrificing
again. There's a lot of Jewish people today that think that
they're living in sin because they can't make their sacrifices
because the temple was torn down years ago and they don't have
a place to sacrifice. So they think they're wrong with
God. They think they're living in sin because they can't make
their sacrifices. Well, listen, if they would just
put their faith and trust in the Messiah, they would just
put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, they don't have
to do those sacrifices no more. You're free and clear of the
sacrifices because God did away with those through Jesus Christ.
That make you happy? Makes me happy. says that those
priests stand there daily. And sometimes they're doing the
same sacrifices every day. Those same sacrifices that can
never take away sin. Can never. But this man, Jesus,
after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on
the right hand of God. Look at that. There ain't no
bulls, there ain't no goats, turtle doves or pigeons sitting
at the right hand of God. None. But Jesus sacrificed himself
so that we could have a right relationship with God. And after
he offered his sacrifice, he goes and sits at the right hand
of God to make intercession for us. to be our intercessor, and
to be our high priest. You talk about going back to
the high priest, hey, the high priest offering his sacrifices
for the people. Well, Jesus offered our sacrifice
to God, and he sits right beside God, on the right hand of God. From henceforth expecting till
his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected
forever them that are sanctified. He's perfected us, Forever. Believers, you believers out
there, you are perfected forever through Jesus Christ and his
sacrifice. He said, for by one offering he hath perfected forever
them that are sanctified, those that trust in the Lord, those
that are growing in the Lord, those that are being followers
of Jesus Christ. So this whereof the Holy Ghost
also is a witness to us. For after that he had said before,
this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,
saith the Lord. I will put my law into their
hearts and in their minds will I write them. And their sins
and iniquities will I remember no more. I got that underlined. Listen, because of Jesus Christ,
my sins and iniquities will be remembered no more. What did
it say? You go back to the first part
of chapter 10. He says they have to come back
every year. And those sins are being remembered every year.
They have to come back every year to get forgiveness of their
sins. And their sins are being brought
up every year to be remembered, every year to be sacrificed for,
every year they're having to do it over and over again. But
Jesus, God says, and those people that have put their faith and
trust in Jesus, their sins and inequities will I remember no
more. Now where remission of these
is, there is no more offering for sin. So if we have forgiveness
of our sins, there's no more offering for sins. Jesus is the
only offering. He done it once and for all.
Hey, I can't go right now. They're doing it wrong in Israel.
They're doing it wrong. The Jewish people are doing it
wrong. Hey, it says right here, it says right here, there is
no more offering for sin. No more. There's no more offering
of bulls. There's no more offering of goats.
They're over there trying their best. They're trying their best
to get to God. But what they really didn't realize
is Jesus did His best so that we could get to God. It ain't
what I can do. It's what Jesus did. It's not
a sacrifice that I can make. It's what Jesus sacrificed on
the cross. Lay down all the rituals, the
religious rituals. These Jewish people, lay them
down. Lay down all these religious rituals and trust in the Lord
Jesus Christ. And there's coming a day when
he says he's going to pour out his spirit upon them and they
will once again turn to him. Right. And there's some, I ain't
saying all Jews. There's some Jews that believe
in Jesus Christ as their Messiah. There are. There are a lot of
them out there that believe in Jesus. But there's a lot of them
that don't. And that's why they want their
temple back so bad, because they feel like they need that to make
their sacrifices. But Hebrews 10, 18, there is
no more offering for sin. Aren't you glad? Does that make
you happy to know that you put your faith and trust in the only
one that can save? You put your faith and trust
in the one that says you don't have to do those things. Hey,
I know this about, I know this about salvation. It's like I
already said, it's not what I can do. It's not man reaching up
to try to help God. It's God reaching down trying
to help man. It's not us. It's nothing that
we can do. It's only what God can do. It's only what He can
do. It's only what Jesus did on the
cross. It's the only way. The only way. That's the reason
why He's so clear. I am the way, the truth, and
the life. No man cometh unto the Father but me. I am the good
shepherd. I am the door of the sheep. Anybody
who comes in has to go through me. That's the reason why He's
so clear that, hey, for God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him, it's the only
way. It's the only way to get there. The only way to get to
heaven is through Him. It ain't through a chicken, it
ain't through a rooster, it ain't through a cow, it ain't through a dog,
it ain't through any other animal. It is only through and by Him.
So if anybody tries to get in any other way, it's no better
than a thief and a robber. He says, don't make my house
a den of thieves. He says, don't do that. Listen,
we're offering as a church, as Westside Baptist Church, we're
offering a place for you to come and know the Lord. Right? Hey, we don't want your money. We ain't asking you for your
money. God's saying, be obedient in giving. Be obedient. That
is your, that is a way of worship. That is a way of being obedient
to him. Give your 10%. I'm not telling
you give your 10% because hey I want to put it in my pocket.
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying give your 10% because
that is obedience to God. That is saying I put my faith
and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. That's saying this is a way to
worship Him. This is a way to honor Him. This
is a way to appreciate what He's done for me. I'm telling you. But Don't think that we're out
for your money, because we're not. We just want us all to be
in a right relationship with God. I don't want to stand up
here. Josh don't either. Don't want
to stand up here and preach to a bunch of people that just robbed
God of their money, of his money. The Bible says that pretty clear,
that those that don't give, they're just robbing God. And like I
said, God doesn't need your money. He doesn't. He just wants a relationship
with you. He wants your obedience. He wants
you to be closer to Him. And how are we closer to Him?
By worshiping Him. And that's a way of worshiping,
is tithing. But what we do offer more than
anything, what we do want from you is for you to live your life
for Jesus Christ, to follow Him, put your faith and trust in Him.
That's what we want. Not out here wanting your money.
We want you to know Jesus Christ is your Savior. As we get a song
ready tonight, we want you to know the Lord Jesus Christ. We
want you to know that there ain't nothing you can do. There's nothing
that you can do. You cannot do anything to save
yourself. It's only through Jesus Christ.
He's the only one. He's already done everything
that's needed. Everything that's required, He's already done.
Just put your faith and trust in Him. Follow Him. Believe in
Him. Believe. Repent and believe the
gospel. Believe the gospel. I've had a, I started, I had
a, just call it a lack of intelligence on my behalf. I ain't too proud
to say. I just always thought, I always
started thinking, I got hung up on this a little bit in my
mind. If it's just as simple as believing, in the Lord Jesus
Christ, then you can talk to a bunch of people that believe
in the Lord Jesus Christ. But I believe, I said this at
Mamaw Jean's funeral, it's a different kind of belief, I believe. I believe, like I can say, like
I said, I used this as an example at the funeral for those of you
that were there, I believe it's gonna rain tomorrow. If it don't,
so what? You know what I'm saying? But
believing in something, like I believe that when I go to work
this week, come Friday I'm gonna get a paycheck. That's why I
go, because I believe. And so far in the 24 years that
I've worked there, every Friday I get a paycheck. So I believe
I'm gonna get a paycheck. So that's why I go and work.
I labor for the paycheck. Now, if you truly believe in
something, you'll give your life to it. I've given my life to
that company. 24 years I've worked there. I
was thinking about it the other day. I spend more waking hours
at that place than I do anywhere else. Waking hours. I'm not talking about sleeping
hours. Waking hours. I've basically given my life
to that company for 24 years. I'm spending a lot of time there.
You know, foghorn leghorn, you're picking up what I'm putting down.
You know, I'll use Josh's quote there. See, listen, with Jesus
Christ, if you believe in Jesus Christ, you want to give your
life to him. You want to. You'll want to invest in that. If you believe in something,
you're going to invest your time and your efforts and your whatever. You're going to invest in that.
I'm telling you, wouldn't you have liked to have went back
and invested in Apple back when they were just making them big
old bricks that they sat on the desk? Wouldn't you like to have
invested in those? You've got $100 a share. We'd
all be rich, wouldn't we? Right? But look who all did invest
their time. Now they're billionaires and
trillionaires, whatever. billionaires out there. But listen,
with Jesus Christ, we need to invest our lives to him. Listen, the benefits of trusting
in the Lord are far greater than anything I can invest my time
in here. I've invested a lot of time in
UT football. They let me down. I have. Have you? I have. Me and Josh,
both of us. Josh says it more than I do,
because he's closer to the Lord than I am. He said, I just wish
I couldn't and didn't have to watch them. I can't pull myself away. I still
watch it. I've invested a lot of time in
that. But what's it got me? A lot of heartburn and heartaches.
I had one good year. That was the best year of my
life. I got married that year, too.
So anyway, I love the Lord. I want to invest my time in him
because I believe in him. You believe in something, you
invest your time in it, right? I believed in a lot of things
in my life that let me down. I have believed in it, invested
time in it, right? But I believe in the Lord Jesus
Christ, and he's not going to let me down. not going to let
me down. I guarantee he's not going to
let me down. I might go, you know, I may go
to work tomorrow and they say, you don't have a job no more.
Then what? I put all that work in for them
to let me down now. Right? It could happen. I don't
think it's going to happen. Pray that it don't happen. Or
pray that God opens up another door if it does happen. But I've
invested all that time and it could be over tomorrow. But God will go with us even
to the ends of the earth for all of eternity. Invest your
time in Him. Believe in Him. You want something
to believe in? Believe in Him. Believe in Him
as we sing.
Sacrifice
Reverend Jason teaches from the book of John about Jesus being angry about things being sold in the church for people to use as sacrifice, saying "Make not my Father's house an house of merchandise." God only wants our faith, obedience, trust and praise. Jesus is the sacrifice.
