Day By Day Prayer
Series LUKE
Day by Day Prayers Luke 11:3 In the days of Jesus, a laborer was paid daily. They were paid at the end of each day for the work they had done for that day. Since they were not paid weekly as we often are, they could not go out and buy groceries for a week. Therefore, at the end of the day they would purchase the food they needed for that day. In this sense, the supplying of bread was a "day by day" matter. I. How to Pray for yourself. There's a fundamental theme to these guidelines: you must be willing to take action. When you pray for God's mercy, be willing to show mercy. When you pray for God's help, be willing to do whatever it takes to make things right. When you pray for God's strength, be willing to rely on him throughout the day. When you pray for God's blessings, be willing to share his blessings with others. How to Prioritize your prayers. 1. THE INTEREST GOD IS SHOWING 2. THE INVITATION GOD IS SHARING 3. THE IMPLICATION GOD IS STATING III. Why God Doesn't Answer Prayers 1. Sometimes we pray for the wrong things 2. We pray with the wrong motives.3. We give up too soon. 4. We don't accept the answer God provides. 5. We don't follow up on our prayers with action. Sin keeps you from receiving answers to prayer. So, you need to ask the Holy Spirit to shed his light on your life and see if there is a sinful behavior or attitude you need to abandon. God does give me what I ask for, and in the process, he helps redefine my priorities and motives, he helps me discern his will, he help me practice persistence and he teaches me obedience.
