A Servant of Christ Jesus

We can expect that any time we step out in faith in service of the gospel that our efforts will be tested. Between the enemy, a fallen world, and our own frailty, there are plenty of forces at work to undermine and discourage our plans. That is why confidence in God's call is important to hold on to. Paul had fruit from his labors that he could look back on (and note to his detractors) that gave evidence enough that God had his hand upon him. In truth, I am sure there were times when looking back was the only way he could look ahead.
