The King Laid Down His Life

In this message from John 19, we note that Jesus laid down His life. His life was not taken from Him, but after He suffered the wrath of God for His people in the six hours He suffered on the cross, He bowed His head and surrendered His life.
In every detail of His suffering on the cross, He was fully in control. His bones were not broken to fulfill Scripture, but His side was pierced to fulfill Scripture. Even the timing of His death and the necessity of His being buried before evening were accomplished in spite of every reason against it. His death accomplished the purpose of God to save His people. Jesus did not die to make sinners savable; He saved them in death. He died that His own might live. Are you among those who now possess eternal life?
