Welcome to the Plenteous Redemption
podcast, where the cross and the culture are on a collision
course for discussion. For the preaching of the cross
is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it
is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy
the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding
of the prudent. Where is the wise? Where is the
scribe? Where is the disputer of this
world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For
after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not
God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that
believe. For the Jews require a sign The
Greeks seek after wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified. Unto the Jews a stumbling block.
Unto the Greeks foolishness. But unto them which are called
both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom
of God. Now, here's your host, Thomas
Ervin. Mark 13. Man, we are near the
end of the book of Mark. I feel like it just flew by.
Very soon we'll be at the cross and the Lord will be risen and
then we'll be talking about His birth. Mark 13. 16 chapters in Mark, I believe it's
Mark 12 through 16, that a lot of people argue or try to argue,
foolishly, that they should not be there. And the Bible obviously
disagrees, and we agree with the Bible. All right, now let's
read verses one and two. We'll start there. And as he
went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him,
Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here?
And Jesus answering said unto him, seest thou these great buildings? There shall not be left one stone
upon another that shall not be thrown down." Now imagine that
conversation. Hey, let me show you how beautiful
this place is. Look at how great this is. Isn't this neat? Isn't
this wonderful? And you look over and the Lord
says, I'm going to tear every single stone down. Every one
of them will be ripped down. Now there's a mosque in its place. Now, the Dome of the Rock is
a huge mosque on the temple mount where the temple is supposed
to be situated. You talk about a rough day when
that has to be taken down in order to put up the Jewish temple.
That's going to be rough. pray about them, well, the problem
is it'll be done before Jesus comes back. So that temple will
be erected and set up and that'll happen and then sometime after
that, the tribulation begins and that's when they make that
covenant with the Antichrist and begin to worship in their
temple. without harm at least for three and a half years. So
the Lord said He's going to tear it all down and that temple is
not there. If you were to ask the Jews today,
how do you worship God the way you're supposed to, they can't.
They don't have a temple. It's not there. It doesn't exist.
And so they can't do what they're supposed to be able to do. But
the Lord will fix all that eventually, but they're going to go through
a lot of trouble before that happens. Verse 2, And Jesus answering
said unto them, Oh, we already read all that. He's going to
throw down every one of those. Look at verses 3 through 13. Verse
3, And as he said upon the Mount of Olives, right now, When you
read this parallel passage in Matthew, the conversation that
took place in verses 1 and 2 appear to have happened possibly on
top of the Mount of Olives as he's giving what we called the... When you read in Matthew 24,
25, and 26, they somewhat correlate with this. And it looks like
they're in Bethany on the Mount of Olives. So the temple is on
Mount Zion. Then you go down through that
valley, I believe it's the Valley of Megiddo and all that, and
you begin to go up the other side on the Mount of Olives. So it's a valley between the
two mountains. And as you go up the Mount of
Olives, you go through Gethsemane and Bethpage and Bethany and
all those villages on the Mount of Olives. And so it looks like
they're sitting in Bethany looking across that valley at the temple
sitting on top of the other mountain. That's why there are multiple
reasons, but one of the reasons that when every time someone's
going to Jerusalem, it says they went up to Jerusalem, because
they're going down through that valley up to Jerusalem. And so
that's how you have to get there. And so it looks like they're
sitting, and here it says they're on the Mount of Olives. Bethany
is on the Mount of Olives. At the end of Matthew 24, 25,
and 26, when he's wrapping up that discourse that he's giving
there, They're in Bethany by the time you get to the end of
that. So somewhere in this conversation, they end up in Bethany, and they're
looking across. And when the Lord returns, if
you remember in Luke, when He ascended into heaven, He ascended
from Bethany. And so when you pick up in Acts
chapter 1, it says when the Lord returns, He'll return in like
manner as He did when He ascended. So there's a good chance He's
going to descend, come back at His second coming into Bethany. And of course, Zechariah says
He's going to come back and His feet will touch down on the Mount
of Olives. So Bethany being on the Mount
of Olives, there's a good chance that that's what's going to happen.
though it may not be definitive. All right, verse 3. And as he
sat upon the Mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter
and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us,
when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign when
all these things shall be fulfilled? Now this gets into Very confusing
topics and conversations amongst Christians because they've read
too many Tim LaHaye books and they've read too many books about
prophecy rather than just reading the Bible and trying to understand
what the Lord says about prophecy. Now, the question is, what is
the sign of thy coming? which is a reference to the second
coming, not the rapture. And what ends up happening is
people get confused. They conflate passages about
the rapture with the second coming and the second coming about the
rapture. And so then their doctrine gets all confused. And they just
say, you know what? I think we're going to go through the tribulation.
Well, no, we're not going through the tribulation. You've just
misplaced certain passages. And it's something else Christians
say. They'll say, well, you know, I'm just, I'm seeing all these
times of the season or, you know, these signs of the times, all
this stupid, ridiculous garbage about the second coming. And so when you say that, when
you say, I'm seeing the signs of the times, that is a reference
not to the rapture. It is a reference to the second
coming. So what you're saying is that we are at the end of
the tribulation, and you're seeing the signs Jesus said would come,
that the tribulation is over and that He is returning. And
they don't even realize they're saying that. They just say, you
know, there's wars and rumors of wars. What if there had not
been wars and rumors of wars? There was an earthquake the other
day. When have there not been earthquakes? People in Somalia,
they're in famine. They're having a famine and there's
no water. When has it ever not been like
that in Somalia? or several places in the world.
It happens. Jesus said, these are the beginnings
of sorrows. All right, now, the beginnings
of sorrows began in Genesis chapter three, when God told the woman,
in sorrow, you're gonna give birth. It's gonna be difficult,
it's gonna be hard, and it's gonna be painful, and so I'm
glad I'm a man. He said, by the sweat of thy
brow, I'd rather go out and sweat than birth a baby. I'd rather
go fight with the briars. So thank you to my wife. I appreciate
it. Verse 3, and as he sat on the
Mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and
John asked him privately, tell us, when shall these things be
and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed, lest any man,"
what? Deceive you. I would suggest
that a lot of Christians are deceived. They are at least confused. Well, you know, Russia invades
Ukraine. Oh, the signs of the times. What
are you talking about? Signs of what times? It's a sign
that you live in a sin-cursed world with a bunch of prideful
men who want to take what don't belong to them. What is that? That's been true since Genesis
chapter 3. And nothing has changed and is gonna change till Jesus
Christ comes back. So the Lord said, take heed, don't be deceived.
What is it we're not supposed to be deceived about? Verse six,
for many shall come in my name saying, I am Christ, and shall
deceive many. There's a man, I don't know if
he's still alive, there's a man in Florida that has thousands and
thousands of followers, and he's telling those people that he's
the reincarnated Jesus Christ. There's a man, I believe he's
in Russia, somewhere in that part of Europe, who also has
hundreds, if not thousands of followers. He walks around with
long hair, wearing a white, long, flowing robe, and has, you know,
the European depiction of Jesus. He looks like that, and he walks
around telling people that he is Jesus. It happens all the
time. And the Lord said, you're not
supposed to be deceived by that. When I come, you will know it.
Everybody will know it. No one will be confused. Like,
is this it? Remember when John the Baptist sent those people
to Jesus and said, are you the one we're looking for? At his
second coming, there will be none of that. You will know exactly
who has come. There will be no confusion. There
will be no mistaking it. You'll know exactly who it is.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and shall
deceive many. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars,
be ye not troubled. Lord, what about all these wars
going on? Unless it's in your neighborhood, don't worry about
it. Well, isn't that a sign of your coming? No. In fact, they
asked the Lord, what is the sign of your coming? And he gave them
a list of things that are not the sign of his coming and said,
those things, don't be worried about those. You go to the second
part of verse seven. For such things must needs be,
but the end shall not be yet. And yet, what do people say?
There's a war, it's a sign of the end, and Jesus just literally
said, all these wars are gonna take place, because you live
in a sin-cursed world, and they have nothing to do with the end.
And yet, Christians walk around every day, man, did you see what
they did in Israel? Did you see what they did in
Russia? Signs of the end. Jesus said that is not a sign
of the end, and that you should stay away from that garbage and
not be deceived by it. Verse 8, for nations shall rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes
in diverse places, and there shall be famines and troubles.
These are the beginning, not the end. Jesus said, these are
the beginnings of sorrow. And that began, these are the
beginnings of sorrows, that began all the way back in Genesis 3
and has been going on ever since. So the Lord says, all that stuff,
that has nothing to do with my coming. That has no relationship
whatsoever to my coming. And you should not let it deceive
you. Verse 9, but, okay, so now he's going to give us some instruction. So, Lord, what is the sign of
your coming? Well, wars, famines, earthquakes,
that has nothing to do with it. And yet Christians walk around,
man, did you hear about that earthquake the other day? Jesus
must be coming soon. Coming for what soon? As the
context of what he's talking about is the end of the tribulation.
The tribulation hadn't even begun. The church hasn't been raptured.
There are a lot of things that have got to happen long before
we get here. And so he's telling you, none
of that has to do with this. You've got to separate all that.
That's just life in this world. And so, verse nine, but take
heed to yourselves, for they shall deliver you up to councils.
And in the synagogues, you shall be beaten, and you shall be brought
before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against
them. And the gospel must first be
published among what? All nations. Now, the context
of Mark is which kingdom? Who remembers? Kingdom of what? We're in Mark. What's the context of Matthew?
It's the kingdom of heaven, the physical earthly kingdom. The
context of Mark is the kingdom of God. The kingdom of heaven
is never mentioned. So we're talking about the gospel
that we went out and preached all over the state of Mississippi
yesterday. So that is what you're supposed
to go and preach. And Jesus said it has to be published
in all nations. Now the Apostle Paul said that
it was preached to every creature before he died. That it was preached
everywhere before he ever left the earth. That was early on. And, of course, it's being preached
all over the place now, but Jesus said it'll be preached in every
nation, and that should be our focus. Not wars, not rumors of
wars, not kingdoms against kingdoms, not politics. None of that garbage
is our focus. You participate in politics insofar
it is necessary for you to be a good citizen of your country,
and then that's the end of it. You're supposed to be preaching
the gospel and telling people about Jesus Christ and going into all the
world and making sure everybody knows what Jesus did for them
on the cross. Now look at verse 11. But when they shall lead you
and deliver you up, Take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak,
neither do ye premeditate. But whatsoever shall be given
you in that hour, that speak ye, for it is not ye that speak,
but the Holy Ghost." So if you're taken captive because of your
beliefs and dealt with harshly, the Lord said, don't worry about
what you're going to say. You just wait for me. When you're
there, I will tell you what to say. Now, praise the Lord, we
live in a country where that's highly unlikely to happen. It's
possible things are trending in that direction. We may have
gotten just a little brief pause on that with this current election,
politically speaking, but it's coming. It's going to happen.
I'd be very surprised if it doesn't consume our country. It'd be
interesting, the country that took out communism is trending
towards communism. It's a shame, but that's how
it's going. Verse 12. Now the brother shall
betray the brother to death, and the father, the son, and
the children shall rise up against their parents and shall cause
them to be put to death." That happens all over the world. You
trust in Jesus in Saudi Arabia, it's going to go, it's going
to be... I read a letter of a young man who trusted Jesus in Saudi
Arabia and his family sent him away. They didn't want to kill
him, which they're supposed to do in Saudi Arabia, but he couldn't
stay there, and so they sent him away. You got it good here. We don't deal with that here,
and thankfully so. But they're going to betray each
other. Verse 13, and ye shall be hated of all men for my name's
sake, but he that shall endure to the end, the same shall be
saved. Was anything mentioned there
about the salvation of the soul? No. That is not the context. The context is a time of turmoil,
a time of wars and rumors of wars and physical trouble. And the Lord said, you do what
I tell you to do, you'll endure. You'll make it. All right, now
verse 14. But when ye shall see the abomination
of desolation. Okay, now we're changing context. Now it's going to get very serious.
Now we're in the middle of the tribulation with that statement. Right? And the word but is notable. It always is, every time it comes
up. But when you shall see the abomination of desolation spoken
of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, let him that
readeth understand. Now this is going to take you
back to the book of Daniel, Daniel chapter 9 primarily, but there
are numerous passages throughout the book of Daniel that you need
to read to fully understand this. But here's what the Lord says.
Then let them that be in Judea flee. to the mountains. You need
to run. You need to go hide. Right now,
this is in the tribulation when this happens. The church is long
gone. According to Jesus Christ, in
every cross-reference throughout the New Testament, the church
has been taken away. The Tribulation begins the moment
that Israel and the Antichrist make that covenant. The Tribulation
begins. They have peace and are allowed
to worship for three and a half years. And then halfway through,
he's going to set up the abomination of desolation in the temple,
breaking that covenant and setting himself up as God. And then it
gets rough. Then it goes from tribulation
to tribulation such as the world has never seen. It goes from
bad to so bad that we couldn't even explain it to us. Verse
15, and let him that is on the housetop not go down into the
house, neither enter therein to take anything out of his house. Don't grab clothes, don't grab
food. As soon as that abomination of
desolation is set up in the temple, run. Grab your family and go. Don't like, well, all right,
what are we gonna pack? What are we gonna take with us? You're dead, it's over. If
you do that, you're caught. The Lord says the moment that
happens, if you're in Judea, you better flee into the wilderness.
You gotta get out. Now why would that be? Can you
imagine having Shiloh and two toddlers trying to flee into
the wilderness? Can you imagine the people who
are hunting you down, trying to find you, and you're trying
to keep a baby quiet? Can you imagine starving to death,
no food to give your children, as you're trying to hide in the
wilderness, and you're just going to sit there and watch them die? The
Lord says, just... How about just trusting Jesus
Christ, and you don't have to go through any of this? Trust
in the Lord now, and you don't partake of any of this. You just
move on with him. And imagine if it's in the winter. I sat here talking to that homeless
guy the other night, and I asked him, it's about to get real cold,
what do you do? I just camp out in the woods
and try to keep a fire going. I'm like, why don't you just
get a job and get a place to live? Well, I'm trying to. I
said, with all due respect, sir, I don't believe you. Well, I
have a bad back. There are plenty of jobs where
you just sit at a cash register. There are plenty of jobs where
you just sit and answer a phone. You don't need a back to do any
of that. You can just sit down, answer a phone, and they'll pay
you. So I'm sorry, I don't follow. I don't believe you. And so the
Lord's just saying, this is going to be a horrible time. This is
a terrible, terrible time. Excuse me. Verse 19, for in those
days shall be affliction such as was not from the beginning
of the creation, which God created unto this time, neither shall
be. That goes all the way back to
Genesis 1.1. The Lord says from Genesis 1.1
until now, there has never been trouble like you're going to
see during this time. All the horrible things that
happened October 7th when Hamas went into Israel and did, I mean,
they did unspeakable things, horrendous, disgusting things
in the name of their God. And the Lord said that has nothing
on what's gonna happen during this time. It is not comparable. Verse 20, and except that the
Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved, but
for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened
the days. Now it's interesting, when it
says he's shortening the days, it's not going to be less than
24 hours. What's really interesting is
recently a study came out that was able to prove mathematically
that for the last several years, the Earth has been spinning faster.
And so every year, we're always like, man, I just feel like time's
moving by so fast. Well, it's still a 24-hour day,
but it's passing much faster. And so the Lord's not going to
shorten the time. It's still going to be a full
24-hour day, but it's going to pass by much faster. And that's
part of His mercy. He said, if I don't do that,
I don't know that anybody will survive. Verse 21, "...and then
if any man shall say to you, lo, here is Christ, or lo, he
is there, believe him not." Don't let somebody come and convince
you while you're starving in the woods, while you're hiding,
while you're trying to get away, Jesus is here. It's probably
going to be a trap. It's probably going to be a setup.
Oh, all these people came to see Jesus? Good. Throw them all
in the camps. Throw them all in prison. Put
them to death. And so, For false Christ and false prophets shall
rise and shall show signs and wonders to seduce, if it were
possible, even the elect." So the Lord is telling you that
men are going to raise up who are able to do miracles. And
the purpose of those miracles are to deceive you, not to help
you. People say all these silly things,
again, about the Bible. I just, you know, I think God
can heal. God can heal. He absolutely can. But you're going to get that
through prayer if it's going to happen at all. God hasn't
promised the church healing. So if you have physical problems,
it's likely you're going to have to deal with those until the
time the Lord comes back and fixes them physically. Now, can
He heal you between now and then? Absolutely. But if some man walks
in and lays his hands on you and says, I'm here to heal you,
you better get away from that guy. He's either going to take
your $30 out of your checkbook for a love offering and leave
you with nothing, or he may actually be able to do it. And if he can
actually do it, that's not a good thing. At this point, it'd be
a very bad thing. It'd be a very dangerous thing,
and you need to stay away from it. The Lord said, don't let
that deceive you, but take ye heed. Behold, I have foretold
you all things. Imagine that. And yet, Christians
go into some faith healer and give him hundreds, even thousands
of dollars, because they think he's going to be able to heal
them, and he can't. So far as we have seen, it doesn't
exist at all today, not in the slightest. They're all a bunch
of charlatans, a bunch of liars that are robbing people. But
a day is coming when they will be able to. And the Lord said,
you better stay away from them. They are false prophets, and
I've told you this before so that you will not be deceived. And yet people are, Christians
are already deceived. They're already prepared to fall
right into this. It's a good thing God takes us
away before it comes, otherwise Christians would be right there
in the middle of it all. It's amazing. All right, verse 24.
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be
darkened." All right, now, so far, the Lord, they asked him,
what are the signs of these things? What is the sign of your coming?
And the answer was, here are the things that are not the sign
of my coming. Then he said, if you want a sign
when you see the abomination of desolation set up in the temple,
run. you're in trouble. That's your
first sign. You've got three and a half years.
Try not to die. Try to survive in the wilderness
with children, without children, in the winter, in the summer.
You've got to figure it out. But then, We get another but,
but in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be
darkened and the moon shall not give her light. Now, when the
Lord says, after the tribulation, He's telling you, it's time for
me to come. The tribulation is over. And
you're going to know I'm coming because the sun shall be darkened
and the moon shall not give her light. Verse 25, and the stars
of heaven shall fall and the powers that are in heaven shall
be shaken. And then shall they see the Son
of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory." So the
sign of His coming is the sun will no longer shine, the moon
will no longer shine, the stars will be shaken and fall from
the sky. Has any of that happened? So when people say, you know,
you need to look for the signs of the Lord's coming, that's
what He's talking about. So that is not happening. That
is not for you to be looking for. That is not for you to be
dealing with. Verse 27, And then shall he send his angels, and
shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the
uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.
So wherever the elect are, now in the Bible, the elect, that
is not a Calvinist doctrinal position. Calvinists have corrupted
that word. The elect in the Bible, you have
Jesus Christ, who is the elect. Christians are only elect after
they get in Jesus Christ through salvation. We are not elect,
therefore we get saved. We get saved and then become
elect because we are in Jesus. Now, when this happens, we're
gone. We're not here, so this is not
us. Jesus is still in heaven. So this is not Jesus. He's going
to return. He's coming. But right now, he's
saying that he's going to send these angels to gather his elect. That's Israel. They are scattered
all over the earth. They're hiding in the wilderness.
They're trying not to die. They're trying not to be tortured
and killed by all the horrible things that are going on. And
the Lord said, I'm going to send my angels to gather them together.
I will bring them together across earth and where else? Heaven. Wherever they are, I'm going
to gather Israel together. Verse 28. Now learn a parable
of the fig tree. When her branch is yet tender
and putteth forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So
ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass,
know that it is nigh, even at the doors. So the Lord said,
when you see the sun darken, the moon darken, the stars fall,
I'm coming. Until then, wars, rumors of wars,
famines, pestilence have nothing to do with my coming. That's
what the chapter very clearly said. The Lord said, when you
see wars, rumors of wars, this is the beginning of sorrows.
It has nothing to do with the end. It's the beginning, not
the end. Now, when you see the sun go dark, when you see the
moon go dark, when you see the stars fall, and when you see
angels gathering Israel from heaven and earth, I'm coming. I'm about to come back, and that
final battle before the millennial reign is going to happen, and
it's going to be bloody. It's going to be ugly. The Bible
says when Jesus comes out of Saudi Arabia, that the blood
will flow as high as the horse's rein. He's not coming back the
sweet, kind, compassionate Jesus that he was when he was on earth
the first time. He's coming back to put down his enemies. And
man, what a day that is going to be. It will not be good to
be one of his enemies on that day. So I would strive not to
be in that position. Verse 32, but of that day and
that hour, everybody knows you should mark it on your calendar. Why do people keep guessing or
predicting or prophesying? How can so many people follow
Harold Camping and his crowd? And the Jehovah's Witnesses have
predicted the end of the world multiple times, and it's just
one religious organization after another have done this repeatedly,
and yet people still follow them. It's amazing. I don't understand
it, but they do. But of that day and that hour,
knoweth no man. But I think, know not the angels. The Lord does that all the time,
because he just, I believe he knows, there's always going to
be those people who just say, but I think I, no, no you don't. Don't think that, because it's
a dumb thing to think. Well, I just, I did this mathematical,
no, no, just, just give it up. No, you don't know, the angels
don't know. Well, who knows? Not the angels,
which are in heaven, neither the Son. Jesus Christ just said,
I don't know when I'm coming back. I don't have any idea. So don't ask me, don't ask the
angels, don't ask men on earth, because none of us know. Only
the Father knows and when he tells me he's ready for me to
come back and we read about that in in the book of Daniel when
the the ancient of days goes down into the second heaven and
he judges the principality and powers and then who meets him
there Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, and he gives dominion to
Jesus Christ, and as soon as he gives that, he takes it away
from Satan and the angels, gives it to Jesus, and the moment he
does, Jesus comes straight to the earth and sets up his kingdom.
So that hadn't happened yet. You just gotta wait. When's it
gonna happen? I don't know. Take ye heed, watch
and pray, for you know not when the time is. You say, well, how
do I, you know, I just want to be ready for when he's coming.
You know, I mess with people all the time. I tell them I'm
coming on this day. What time? Don't worry about
it. Just know I'll be there. Well, I want to be ready for
you. Well, just be ready the whole day. That's what the Lord's saying. You want
to know when so you can be doing what you think I want you to
be doing when I walk in the door. And we're not going to do that.
I just want to walk in and let you surprise me with your diligence.
And so here we are. The Lord says, don't worry about
it. Just live like you're supposed to live. Live as though I'm coming
in the next five minutes. every five minutes. That way
you're constantly doing what I want you to do and not fumbling
around and then I show up. Wouldn't that be terrible? Verse
34, For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who
left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to every
man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore,
For ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even,
or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning, lest
coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you, I say
unto all, watch." That verse is one of the most interesting
verses to me in all the Bible. I'm saying it to you, and I'm
saying it to everybody else. There's no special group of people.
There's no select group of people who have some special knowledge
that you don't have. What I'm telling you is live
like I'm coming any moment, any day, any time. Well, Lord, if you gave us an
idea when you're coming, I'm not giving you an idea. Well, what
are the signs of your coming? I'll show you. Look at Acts chapter
1. Acts chapter 1, he said it pretty clearly. to Christians. Who's He talking to in Acts chapter
1? This is the resurrected Jesus Christ talking to His saved disciples,
right? Well, let's see what He says.
Acts chapter 1, verse 6, "...when they therefore were come together,
they asked Him, saying, Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore
the kingdom unto Israel?" You had one chance to ask, or you
had a few opportunities, let's say, to ask the Lord Jesus Christ,
the resurrected Son of God, a question. And your question is, can we
get the kingdom going now? After he's told you repeatedly,
that's not what I came for. That's not why I'm here. Well,
let's look at his answer, verse seven. And he said unto them,
it is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the
Father hath put in his own power. The kingdom will be established
after the tribulation, after the second coming, right? So
the Lord said, when it comes to the kingdom for you Christians,
don't worry about it. It's not for you to know. Well
then Lord, what do we do? Well, verse eight, but you shall
receive power. After that the Holy Ghost has
come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem
and in all Judea and in Samaria and under the uttermost part
of the earth. So he said, this is what I need
you to do. I need you to go everywhere filled with the Holy Spirit and
preach the gospel to every creature, everywhere. Lousdale, Mississippi,
America, Africa, South America, Central America, Canada, everywhere. preach the gospel to every creature
in every nation. It's all connected right back
to Mark chapter 13. The gospel should be published
in every nation. That's what we're supposed to
be focused on. Everything after that is none of our business
because we won't be here. Now, should you study it? Should
you know it? Sure. But should you be so concerned
about it that it's not foundational to your Christian life? Now,
the Lord said, don't be deceived. So don't let somebody come along
and deceive you into thinking that the Lord has come, the Lord
is coming at a certain time, on a certain date, in a certain
way. You don't know. You don't know
any of that. What we're supposed to be focused on is preaching
the gospel to every creature. We want a good understanding
of prophetic events, but Far too many Christians are confused
about it and deceived by it and are too heavily focused on it.
That is not our focus. Our focus is the gospel of the
Lord Jesus Christ and telling people what he did for them on
the cross. Amen? All right. We hope you enjoyed this podcast.
