The Shame, Name, Glory & Presence

In the book of Exodus, Israel moves from a family in covenant to a nation in covenant more deeply. This happens by the revelation of the name of God, the LORD, which is His glory, and by the gift of the LORD's presence in the Tabernacle. This all involves rescue from Egypt, and atonement for Israel's own sin. God's people are constituted not by their action but by God's, they have no name of their own, but can by redemption be called the children of God, and they live constantly by the gracious and holy presence of God.
