The Holy Spirit Sends Missionaries to Cyprus

36

God through His church sends out missionaries, and all who heed by proclaiming Christ faithfully will encounter opposition.
Sermon Outline:
I. The Holy Spirit sets apart men for missions (v. 1-3).
II. The ministry in Cyprus (v. 4-12).

In missions, God manifests His heart of compassion for the nations. Whoever knows God shares His burden for the nations of the earth (Psalm 67:2-5). Yet, no one said that missions, evangelism, church planting, and discipleship would be easy. In fact, the repeating pattern in the book of Acts is that when the Word of God is faithfully proclaimed, much opposition ensues. In today's passage, the Jewish false prophet Bar Jesus opposes Barnabas and Paul, but still the proconsul Sergius Paulus came to saving faith.
