Since the LORD anointed David the next king in Israel, some things had to happen in order for David to rise to this high office. In 1 Samuel 16 we witnessed God working behind the scenes to bring David to the palace for experience. Now in 1 Samuel 17, God was about to bring David to the attention of all of Israel.
