The Blind Meet the Light

10

Over 285 million people in this world are visually impaired. OF that number, 39 million are totally blind. But while physical blindness is certainly a problem in today's world, an even greater problem exists-- spiritual blindness. Spiritual blindness caused by failure to respond to the spiritual light one has and by the blinding from Satan, who blinds the minds of unbelievers to the truth of the gospel. Into this dark, dark world Jesus come as the Light of the World. As the Light, He is the personal, final revelation of God to man. As the Light, He expresses holiness and exposes the sinfulness of man. And as seen in an 'acted parable' in John 9, as the Light of the World, Jesus Christ opens spiritually impaired eyes. Opening spiritual eyes is a process with progress plus opposition. But when the Light Bulb comes on, the process culminates in saving faith. But the same light that opens spiritually impaired eyes blinds those who are spiritual proud-- who refuse to humble themselves, see their sinfulness and need of a savior. In the end, they reject the spiritual light and thus are doomed to spend eternity in outer darkness of hell.
