Be back here with you folks.
I am just thrilled to be back here in downtown. Is it Monroeville? Am I saying it correctly? In
downtown Monroeville and at Hardingville Bible Church. I was here, as
Pastor mentioned, for the school graduation, and I don't really
get to know the church family as a whole during that time because
there's so much activity. with reference to the school,
the graduates in which the emphasis is there, rightly so. And then
of course, I was honored to stay over on Sunday to preach on Sunday.
So I kind of got to touch base with you a little bit, but we
haven't had a lot of time together. But as I was pulling onto the
parking lot this morning, I thought, Lord, you've been so good to
me. Thank you for the incredible privilege to be able to count
you as a church family of friends that we can I can get to know,
and we can get associated with to a degree, and I'm honored
to be here with you. This is my life. Every Sunday,
almost every Sunday of my life, I'm in a different location,
in a different church, and I just love it. It's a great privilege.
Number one, I love the Lord's Day. I hope you love Sundays.
I love the Lord's Day. I stepped out of the house a
moment ago, and I just enjoyed this. Is it always this nice
around here, weather-wise? Is it always really good in South
Jersey? This is not bad. I'm about ready
to move up. If I get that charger, I promise
I'm gonna ask for a staff position. I really am. But I was just thinking,
this is just a beautiful time to be here. And then of course,
to be able to just enjoy the Lord's day with you. I love Sundays. And then I love the Lord's people.
I love the opportunity to be able to come and be with a church
family. Some of us have met before and
you're gonna have to, and I hate to do this, you're gonna have
to give me your name again. I wish I could remember all the
names that I have met through the years, but you'll just have
to be patient with me. Hopefully by the end of our time
together on Wednesday, I will know you. If I call you Susan
or Sharon. or Sally, and your real name
is George, forgive me, all right? I will try to get a name and
a face and get it together. But anyway, it would be real
helpful if you'd be here for all the services. And that's
kind of a plug for me to promote every single service for you
to be here. and hope that you can plan, and
if you could wear the same clothes, that would be a real help too.
If you change clothes on me, that messes me up, but anyway,
we'll do our best. I'll do my best to get a name
and a face and connect you with who you are. Most of you probably
sit in the same seats most every service, so that's a help too.
My wife, when she's with me, she says to me, Morris, one of
my biggest fears is when I come into a church that I might get
somebody's seat, you know, where somebody is seated, where that's
their seat. And I said, well, sit on the
front row. No one ever sits on the front
row. I said, you'll be plenty safe up there. But anyway, I
wish you could meet my wife. She and I have been married,
unbelievable, for 49 years. This next year, we'll be hitting
that big golden anniversary. It helps that we got married
when we were only two years old. And so that's very beneficial. But man, I can't believe how
fast the time has flown by. And I love my sweet Lynn for
more than I ever have in our lifetime. We just enjoy life
together and ministry together. We have two sons, one of which
is a pastor in Reno, Nevada. You can believe it. Reno is a,
they call themselves the biggest little city in America. They
wanna be another Las Vegas. Our son went there to start a
church, and the church is just over two years old, about two
and a half now, and they have really made a dent into the community. About 100 people are coming on
a given Sunday. We're just rejoicing at what
God's doing in their ministry out there, our other son. is
a businessman in Kansas City, Missouri, and doing very well,
faithful in his church, just a faithful, supportive layman,
I hate that word, but a helper in the church there. at his church
in Kansas City, and we're grateful for, most of all, for seven grandkids. I mean, how many of you are grandparents?
You know what I'm talking about? Why didn't I start with that?
You know, I mean, that's where life really begins. Anyway, very
grateful for our family. That's just a quick backdrop
because sometimes some people wanna know, you got any kids?
You got any? So there you have it. Pastor's already mentioned
that I've been in evangelism. You know, that term, people say,
what is your title, evangelist? What do we call you? And I just
say, just call me Morris. You know, that's the safest thing
to do. I was a pastor for several years, not in the senior pastor
role, but as an associate pastor for many years. worked with teenagers
for many years. We started a camp ministry out
west in Flagstaff, Arizona. And we started that, we were
there for five years and grateful for that good ministry. And now
for these 24 years, been doing what we call evangelism. My heart beats for the local
church. My heart resonates. for God's
people. Oh, I love the lost. I wanna
see the lost come to Christ, don't you? I mean, what greater
joy than to see someone turn their life over to the Lord.
That's a great delight, great privilege to see someone come
to Christ. You may think, well, okay, you're tagged evangelist.
Is every sermon, every message gonna be strictly the gospel?
No, it will include the gospel because what else is there? I
mean, you've got to make sure that everything is based and
centered on the good news that Jesus saves. But my heart resonates
and desires to be, as your pastor said twice, a season of refreshment
for the church. I love God's people and we need
to be refreshed. We do. When I was a kid growing
up, I don't know if you played sports, but when I played sports,
One of the best part of the game was halftime, because you got
to go into the locker room, get away from the crowd, get away
from the screaming, get away from the refs, get away from
everything else, the opponent, and just be with the family,
the team. And in that locker room, we would
be refreshed, we would drink and Mothers don't wanna hear
this, but we, here, your turn, you know, I mean, you know, we'd
all, it makes me sick to think that we would do that now, but
as a kid, it didn't make any difference, you know, drinking
the Gatorade, the water and so forth, and we would be refreshed. Well, my prayer is that during
these four very fast moving days, we will come together in your
beautiful locker room, and be refreshed and we're all gonna
drink from the same well. I have nothing of my own mind
and personality and philosophy and you certainly don't want
more politics. I have nothing like that to present to you.
Everything we're looking for is found right here within the
pages of this book. And the emphasis as Bible conference
is that we're gonna dig into God's holy word and it will refresh
each one of us. And the person next to you may
have a spiritual need that you don't have, and your needs are
not what somebody else has, and yet God's mighty power meets
the needs of every individual that's in this room. You say,
well, what? What are you gonna preach on
tonight? What are you gonna preach on this week? You know, something
I don't know yet. And that's something I was telling
Brother Ben a moment ago, I wish I had some outlines to throw
up on the screen. I love that. I love it when,
if I ever get to sit under somebody else's preaching and they have
that, and I've used it from time to time, but I don't have anything
yet to present and say, here's what I'll be doing on Monday
night. I don't know. I wake up every day with two thoughts on
my mind. Number one, Where am I? You know, that's the first
thing I think, because I'm in different places all the time.
It happened this morning. You know, okay, oh yeah, South
Jersey. Okay, and then secondly, I think,
when do I preach again? Lord, what do you want me to
preach? Because I don't want to get in
your way. I don't want to mess up your plan.
