By Nature Children of Wrath

After saying natural man is "dead", Paul adds four description clauses. First, we lived according to the world. Secondly, we lived under the influence of Satan and his forces. Third, we lived under the dominion of our own lusts. Fourth, we were by nature deserving of God's wrath. Paul's design is to show the absolute necessity of God's sovereign mercy and the Holy Spirit's effectual awakening.
