Woe to Fattened Hearts

James addresses the misuse of wealth in this text. He reminds us all that treasures of this world will decay. The pursuit of such treasure will actually accumulate evidence against us at the last day of our greed, envy and covetousness. Wealth gained by injust means will be exposed. In addition, using wealth for self-indulgence and ignoring the plight of others rises to the moral standard of murder! How much we all need to hear that our riches are in heaven!
