Persistent Widows

125

In Luke 18, Jesus compares his people to a widow, without resources, crying out for justice day and night.
Notably, he did NOT mock her for "victim mentality", but promised that the people of God are precious in God's eyes, and that God, who loves them even more than any earthly father could, will avenge them.
In making that promise, he echoes what so much of scripture teaches. He keeps our tears in his bottle. We are precious to him. He hears our tears and our cries. He will avenge.
Instead of telling us to put on a happy face and put injustice behind us and move on, he tells us to continue crying out to the Lord and not to lose heart, because he loves us and will avenge us.
