An Unselfish Life
Series The Book of Hebrews
Hebrews 13:1-3 shows the importance of loving 'the brethren', ensuring that our hearts are loving and warm towards fellow believers. To not love the brethren is not to love the Lord Himself. Showing hospitality to other Christians receives the blessing of God, as that is also an expression of love. We are also reminded that our love should also be shown to believers who are imprisoned, as well as those who are suffering for the faith.
Strong support is given for the place of marriage between one man and one woman in God's design for humankind. There are also warnings in this passage against covetousness, as that is contrary to the dictates of love. Contentment with what we have is also highlighted by the writer. To be content is to enjoy peace, knowing that the Lord is our helper.
