Why is it that some people don't believe?

The religious leaders had every reason to believe that God was behind the miraculous healing of the cripple, but they refused to believe because their hearts were evil. For the same reason, unbelievers reject Jesus, not because they don't have enough evidence, but rather because their hearts are evil.
