Isaiah 59 verse 4 says, None
calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth. They trust
in vanity and speak lies. They conceive mischief and bring
forth iniquity. I don't know if you've had the
same experience that I have, but the more I talk to people
who claim to be Christians, the more I realize that they're really
agnostics. Regardless of whether they call
themselves Christian or say, I believe in God or I believe
in Jesus, a short conversation asking the right questions leads
me to realize that their words and profession are empty and
meaningless. And what do I mean? Well, I can
tell you a number of stories, but one example was when we held
a men's meeting, just about a dozen or so men, and one of those in
attendance was a visitor. He'd never been to our church
before. He introduced himself as a believer. That's what he
said. Hello, Pastor, I'm so-and-so, and I'm a fellow believer, and
appreciate the invitation to join you. He had been invited
by our host. This man called me pastor and
referred to everyone else as brother. That's understandable
since he didn't know our names. But when prayer time came around,
one of the men requested prayer for a man who was living in homosexual
sin and was getting legally married. The brother making the request
said something like, I'm praying he repents and gets saved, but
even if he doesn't, I pray that something happens and they're
not able to go through with this ceremony. And before anyone else
could say anything, our visitor chimes in with all the apostate
buzzwords. That's not very loving or Christian.
Why would God make him gay and then condemn his love and all
this stuff? Now, for starters, This is why
you don't evangelize by inviting unsaved people to your church
or church functions, unless they're, you know, being held with that
purpose in mind, evangelistic meetings or something. You're
supposed to evangelize them and then invite them to church. Church
is for saved people, not lost people. It just throws a big
monkey wrench in the whole thing as far as fellowship and prayer
and everything. But having been through this before, And seeing
the disgust on the faces of the other men, I sort of stepped
in and said, you know, we'll discuss this after prayer. And
we went on with the prayer request and had our time of prayer. Afterward,
I discussed the matter with this visitor. And when I quoted scripture
to explain our position, he went right to those claims you hear
all the time. There are contradictions in the
Bible. That's just your interpretation. He even said that there was no
way any intelligent person could believe that the Bible is infallible. That's after I had used that
word in reference to the Bible. Then he'd quote the Bible, judge
not, love your neighbor, do unto others, and all this sort of
that. I said, but I thought you didn't believe the Bible is our
final infallible authority, but here you keep quoting it. After
about five minutes of that, I just ended the conversation and asked
him to respect our faith in the Bible if he's going to remain
there. He didn't stay long. But I did invite him to sit down
with me and discuss these matters privately. We could meet at the
church or meet at a coffee shop or wherever. I offered a DVD
that I had, which was a debate between someone with his view
and someone with our view. I gave him my little card with
my email and phone. I never heard from him, and he
since has died and gone into eternity, and as far as I know,
he entered eternity lost. But that's how I know that he
knew there were answers to his objections. He wasn't even curious
or willing to look at the evidence for God and the evidence for
the infallibility of God's word. And I believe that I'm gonna
see that man and everyone like him. on judgment day at that
great white throne judgment admitting or at least acknowledging the
fact that he avoided me and ran from the information that would
have challenged his unbelief because he knew that all that
stuff he said to me about the Bible was a big load of lies. He was deceived and trying to
deceive others. And I find no joy in that fact. We stand ready with the truth
and are willing to help those who desire the truth. But Psalm
119.42 sums it up nicely saying, so shall I have wherewith to
answer him that reproaches me for I trust in thy word. Amen.

Have you noticed how often agnostics (and other unbelievers) quote the Bible even after trying to convince you that it's not infallible or "the word of God"?
