Singing in the Rain

142

Life at times is filled with heartache, sorrow, trials, and problems. We cannot choose our circumstances, but we can choose our attitudes. We can learn to 'sing in the rain.' The paradox of a Christian's life is that we experience both sorrow and joy. It's not sinful to be sorrowful. Sorrow is an appropriate response for deplorable spiritual conditions, the death of a loved one, or dealing with sin in our lives. But in the midst of our sorrow, we can experience joy because we have a sure hope! Something better awaits us. We can 'sing in the rain' because we hold to sound teaching regarding suffering. It is temporary, needful at times, purposeful to improve the quality of our faith and to prove the genuineness of it, and rewarded in the end. We also experience during times of suffering sweet fellowship with our LORD! His presence presses peace into our troubled souls and puts a song in our hearts as we "sing in the rain!"
