What I'm gonna preach on today might take a while. I've already settled it in my heart, I'm preaching until I'm done this morning. If you have to leave, you may get up and go. We may end at the normal time, I don't know. But I'm giving you that liberty, you won't offend anybody, you won't hurt anybody's feelings, certainly not mine. If you can't stay to the end, listen to the recording after. What I have to talk about today very well may take a while. Get your Bibles out and turn to Exodus chapter 25. We're continuing our study in John, but in order to continue our study in John, we've got to start in Exodus. By the end of this, we will have finished John chapter 15, all right? We're really only preaching on two verses out of the New Testament. Well, more out of the New Testament, out of the book of John, verses 26 and 27. Before I go any further, though, I want to give you the purpose of this preaching. Remembering, as it says in 1 Corinthians 14, when it talks about preaching, Paul tells the Corinthian church that the purpose of preaching is that the secrets of your heart would be made manifest, and that you would fall down on your face before God and worship Him. And they would be able to tell and speak of a truth that God is in you. That is the purpose of preaching. God does that through the power of the Holy Ghost. The whole purpose of the Holy Ghost of God, that third person of the Godhead, his entire job, Old Testament and new, is to manifest Jesus Christ. He did it as holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost, by the Spirit of God in the Old Testament. And he did it in the New Testament through Jesus Christ. He did it in the book of Acts and on through the apostles. And he does it yet today through the preaching of the Bible. The whole purpose of the Holy Ghost is to show you Jesus Christ. And with that understanding, John Hall, I need you to ask the Lord to bless our time. Father, I ask that you would be with us at this time. We need your Holy Spirit and Holy Ghost to be with us. Rebuild yourself through the preaching of baptism. I ask also, Father, that you would push out Amen. Exodus chapter 25. We're going to start in verse 31. God is giving Moses the direction as to how to construct the furniture of the tabernacle and the tabernacle itself. He's just received the law of God and now he is receiving this thing that is a figure of the true. All right, Paul speaks of this in the book of Hebrews, in Hebrews chapter nine. All of these things, all the furniture in the tabernacle, everything that's in that thing is just a figure of the true. It's just an image, it's just a picture. It's not the real thing. Even though they were standing there, they could touch the table of showbread. They could move the Ark of God. The priest could feel the weight on those staffs. They could see the tabernacle. That was not the true. The true is in heaven. There is a tabernacle in heaven. There is a place in heaven that has every bit of furniture that is in this tabernacle here in heaven. By the way, this exact Ark that is constructed is in heaven today. Right? And we don't have time to get into that today. The Lord gave me liberty to skip over that, all right? If you want to talk about that later, I would love to show you, all right? But now, Exodus chapter 25, starting in verse 31, we're about to get instruction on how to build the candlestick. And that excites me. Exodus 25, 31. And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold. Of beaten work shalt the candlestick be made. His shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers shall be of the same. and six branches shall come out of the sides of it, three branches of the candlestick out of the one side, three branches of the candlestick out of the other side, three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch, and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower. So in the six branches that come out of the candlestick, And in the candlestick shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers. And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick. Their knobs and their branches shall be of the same. All of it shall be one beaten work of pure gold. And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof, and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it. and the tongs thereof and the snuff dishes thereof shall be of pure gold. Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it with all these vessels, and look that thou make them after their pattern which was showed thee in the mount. Blessed be the name of the Lord. This candlestick represents the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is shown to us in this candlestick. I'm not gonna go into all of the minute types of everything, but he was that incense beaten small. We're gonna read later on that we're not to despise the day of small things. I just want you to consider this. Look in verse 31. Thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold, of beaten work shall the candlestick be made, colon, Its shaft or his shaft? His shaft and his branches, his bowls, his knobs, his flowers shall be of the same. And then he goes back to talking about the candlestick because he refers to it as an it. This is significant, folks. When there's a shift in a pronoun like that, When there's a shift in an identifier like that, take note of that in your King James Bible, because that was intentional. As you go down through this, you see so much described in this thing. These bowls that are shaped like almonds, the knops that are around the bowls, the branches that come off of it, three on one side, three on another. There's one in the very center of that candlestick. Seven lamps in total on that candlestick. And verse 37 is where our springboard is gonna be that we're gonna start from from today. Look at this. And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof and they shall light the lamps thereof that they may give light over against it. Now, This is not, this candlestick was not constructed, beaten, put together, made, and lit to light the tabernacle. It's not what it was there for. It was to light the candlestick. Because it gave light over against it. All right? Right now, I'm leaning against the pulpit. That's what it's saying. That's what it's showing here. That light was to be over against it. The light of the seven lamps that were lit on that candlestick were to illuminate the candlestick so it could be seen. There's two members of the Godhead that are clearly seen in this. Later on, we're going to see a third. I want to point something out. This is not a small candlestick. A talent of gold is 100 pounds of gold. This is big. This is not a small work. But now we're gonna look at a couple of things. Turn to Exodus 27, and we're gonna look at verse 20 and 21. Exodus 27, 20, it says, And thou shalt command the children of Israel that they bring thee pure oil olive-beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always, in the tabernacle of the congregation, without the veil which is before the testimony. Aaron and his son shall order it from evening to morning before the Lord. It shall be a statute forever unto their generations on behalf of the children of Israel." We saw the construction of the candlestick, how it was to be made, how it was to be put together, what it was to look like, the size of it, what it was to be made out of. And by the way, it must be pure gold. Pure gold refined seven times. That is the definition of purity. All right. Every word of God is pure, as silver, tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times, all right? A finer takes a metallurgist, takes gold, silver, platinum, whatever it may be, and they heat it up until it melts. The dross comes out of it, all the dirt, the imperfections, anything that is not pure gold comes up out, scrapes it off the top, and it cools down. And he does that process seven times. And after that, there's nothing more that can be taken out. That's what was to be used for this candlestick. Purified seven times. But then there was also this pure olive oil. This pure oil olive to be beaten for the light. to cause the lamp to burn always. And you see here the location of it. It was to be without the veil, okay? So that word without, it doesn't mean not having it, okay? It means outside of it. The veil is that veil that separated the holy place from the most holy place where the Ark of God was. And that veil separated those two things. And the candlestick was there as the one of the pieces of furniture in that tabernacle to shed light over against the candlestick. What you're gonna find, and I'm gonna give you a bit of a springboard for your own study, oil in your Bible, in your King James Bible, is representative of the Holy Ghost. You see that time and time again, referred to, alluded to, you see it clearly defined. Search those things out. Don't just take it because I said so, don't be lazy, go and find it for yourself. Be a good Marian and search these things to see if they are so. But oil is a picture of the Holy Ghost. And that is what was to burn to light the candlestick. That was why I opened with that statement that the purpose of the Holy Ghost is to always, His job has always been to illuminate Jesus Christ to the eyes of men. Today, He does it through the preaching of the Word of God. Today, if I can get my flesh out of the way, we will see Jesus Christ in these lambs, in this candlestick, that work of beaten gold. Let's go to Zechariah chapter three. To find Zechariah, start in Matthew, turn back to Malachi, and then turn back one more book to Zechariah. Zechariah chapter three. We're gonna start in verse eight. I preached extensively on verses one through seven. The Lord had us drop right into verses eight, nine, and 10. Says this, here now, O Joshua, the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee, for they are men wondered at, for behold, I will bring forth my servant, the branch. For behold, the stone that I have laid before Joshua, upon one stone shall be seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts. And I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. As I'm reading down through this, I'm thinking to myself, you know, there's two other things that were engraven by God. Three other things. the tablets whereon the law was engraven and given to Moses, the heart wherein the law was engraven upon, and also the hands of Jesus whereon was engraven my name. By the way, that's his hands, not his wrists. Amen and amen. Glory to be to God for the hands of Jesus Christ. Humble yourselves therefore under the hand of almighty God that he may lift you up. And those hands have the wounds from those nails. By the way, it wasn't the nails holding into that cross. It was God. And it was his love for you. If you're here Wednesday night, you'd have understood that a little more. Let's keep going with this. Verse nine, again. For behold, the stone that I have laid before Joshua, upon one stone shall be seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig tree. Seven eyes engraving on that one stone. And he is that branch. What you're going to find is in your King James Bible, you can study things out. Okay? It's an amazing work of God. It is a miracle work of God, this book that you hold in your lap. Because if you trust the words of this King James Bible, and you find them and you follow them out for exactly what they say in the context of how it is used, you will find Jesus Christ in the volume of the book. Jesus Christ is this branch that he speaks of. We know from our studies of Zechariah chapter three that Joshua the high priest connected with Zechariah six, says behold the man whose name is the branch as he points to Joshua, that is Jesus Christ represented. He is in the volume of this book. But these seven eyes, whose eyes are those? Let's turn to Zechariah 4.10. Zechariah 4.10 says this, for who hath despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice and see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven. What seven? They are the eyes of the Lord which run to and fro through the whole earth. Lonnie, that's what we were talking about in men's class. The eyes of the Lord which run to and fro through the whole earth. Remember how that's written, because we're going to read it again. Let's go to Revelation chapter four. The book of Revelation. Chapter four. In verse five. No, let's start at verse 1. After this I looked, and behold, a door was opened in heaven, and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet, talking with me, which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper, and as a sardine stone, and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats. And upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment, and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God." We're going to pause here for just a second. We saw the candlestick with seven branches. We saw the candlestick with seven lamps, all burning. We saw the stone where it was graven, seven eyes. We saw those seven eyes as the eyes of the Lord, which go to and forth throughout all the earth. And all of a sudden we see before the throne of Jesus Christ himself, we see seven lamps burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God. Let's go to Daniel chapter 10. Daniel is that big minor prophet. I don't know if it's a major prophet or a minor prophet. If you wanna contend with me over that, you can. But it's that big one after Ezekiel. Daniel chapter 10. Verse one. In the third year of Cyrus, king of Persia, a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar. And the thing was true, but the time appointed was long. And he understood the thing and had understanding of the vision. By the way, how did he have understanding? Because there's a spirit in man and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding, Job 32.8. That's how we understand. God inspired understanding into Daniel. If you're gonna understand any of this today, it's because God Almighty inspires that understanding in you. These are spiritual things, which can only be spiritually discerned. In those days, I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant bread. Neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth. Neither did I anoint myself at all till three whole weeks were fulfilled. And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel, then I lifted up mine eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man. clothed in fine linen, whose loins were girded about with fine gold of Uphaz. His body also was like the barrel, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in color to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men that were with me saw not the vision, but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. Therefore, I was left alone and saw this great vision. There remained no strength in me, for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength." And this is truly what happens when you see Jesus Christ. When you see Jesus Christ in the volume of this book, your comeliness is turned to corruption. The greatest thing in you that you have to offer the world or God himself is turned into absolute corruption before him. From the youngest child to eldest senior in this room, corruption. We're all, it's an unclean thing. We've all gone astray. From the sole of the foot to the crown of the head, full of putrefying sores. The whole head is sick and the whole heart faint. Isaiah spoke that. He fell before God Almighty and Jesus Christ as he laid there before him and he said, woe is me for I am undone. Oh, but then we're gonna connect Zechariah chapter three with this. And an angel came forward and he took a coal from off the altar and he touched it to the lips of Isaiah. And he said, this coal has touched thine lips and thine iniquity is purged. As Joshua the high priest stood before God, before the angel of the Lord in that place in Zechariah chapter three. And he said, is this not a brand plucked from the fire? Jesus Christ. If you would touch your lips, your iniquity would be purged. Either that or you're going to be crushed under those feet of brass. Under the feet of Jesus Christ. He will make his enemies his footstool. But the precious thing of that, there's two things that are talked about as being his footstool. Number one, Jerusalem is his footstool. Number two, the temple. And I was once his enemy, but I've been made into the temple of God. Blessed be his holy name. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory. There was a certain man. And his eyes were as lamps of fire. Now, where did you just see that? Whose eyes were there before? Whose eyes were those seven engraved on that stone? Whose eyes were the lamps and the seven spirits of God before the throne? It is Jesus Christ throughout. And Jesus Christ is that lamp. Beaten out of that fine gold. and shown unto us by the power of the Holy Ghost in the pages of this King James Bible. And he lifts his word, he magnifies his word above all his name. There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. And God holds his word above that very name. Not only does He do that, He magnifies it for you. Because the God of this world, the Jesus Christ of this world that is preached in this world today is so small. He can't heal the hurt you're feeling. He can't fix your marriage. He can't give you a wife. He can't give you a husband that'll love you. That's the Jesus Christ that is preached in the world today. He's going to meet you where you're at, leave you there, and let you still stew in your filth. But not the God of this Bible, not the Jesus of this Bible. This Jesus is holy. This Jesus is almighty. This Jesus is all powerful. All power is given unto me in heaven and earth. Go ye therefore into all the world. Preach the gospel to every creature. He has all power. Jesus Christ is all power. We see him pictured in this candlestick and the seven lamps that burn, fueled by the Holy Ghost of God to show us Jesus Christ if you have eyes to see. Let's go to John chapter one, or John chapter five. No, no. Let's go back to Exodus. Yes, that's what I've got in my notes. Exodus. I swear sometimes that God, I promise, I promise sometimes that God sometimes gets my tongue to trip over itself just to break the emotional tension in the room. God forbid we should ever do anything out of emotion here. God gives you emotions. If you're torn up because of the preaching of the word of God, that's something God gave you. But God forbid that I should stir your emotions just to get a response out of you. And I really think he makes me stumble sometimes like that, just to break it up. Let's look at Exodus 25 again. In light of everything that we've looked at, look at verse 37. And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof, and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it. That was the construction and the purpose of the candlestick. The whole purpose of the candlestick is to light the room so that you can see the candlestick. Now let's go to 2 Chronicles 16. 2 Chronicles chapter 16. See if you've heard this before. Look at verse nine. It says, for the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth. And look at that next phrase, to show himself. Do you know how many times I've had that underlined in my Bible? I've underlined that in three different Bibles. And I didn't understand it until I was doing this study. The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself. It's those seven lamps that burn on that candlestick to show the candlestick. It's the seven lamps burning before the throne of God to show the Lord Jesus Christ. And it's those eyes that run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself to you. Look what it says. to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." Now, Wednesday night, we talked about the difference between toward and forward. Toward is when you are inclined unto something. It is when you are aligned with that thing. It is when your heart is in line with God, your heart is toward Him. You believe the Word of God, you accept the Word of God as truth, and you do not rebel against the Word of God. You don't push back against the Word of God. His commandments aren't grievous to you. When you see them, you embrace them as holy and as just and as good, but a froward heart is not so. It is against the things of God. It turns away from the things of God, has no desire for the things of God, and it hates the Word of God, rebels against the Word of God, corrects the Word of God, dispels the Word of God, and dismisses it. But it says he shows himself, but not only does he show himself, he shows himself strong. But it's only in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Is your heart perfect toward him? Perfect, singular? Is it only interested in knowing the things of God? Do you have a love of the truth? You may be having a hard time accepting the truth, but do you have a love of the truth? That's what God is looking for. The ones whom He damns, those ones that He says have strong delusion in 2 Thessalonians 2, those are the ones that would not receive a love of the truth. That's a reprobate mind that God hates. God hates that type of thinking. He hates the froward heart that is against Him. God is angry with the wicked every day. Why? Because their heart is full of iniquity against God. Their carnal mind is enmity against God. He hates that type of thinking, because He knows what it is doing to your soul. He loves your soul. He hates the way you think. He loves your soul. He hates the meditations of your heart. And He wants to get in there, like an Israeli commando team, storming a fortress, and kick out that evil heart, give you a heart of flesh, wherein His law can be graven upon us. That's what Jesus Christ wants to do to you. Your thoughts raise up against that. Your own heart raises up against yourself. Does not the scripture say it's in vain? Doesn't it say the flesh, how's that go, the spirit? Yes, the spirit within us lusteth to envy. which your spirit lusts to do. It doesn't even love to do it. It doesn't even like to do it. It lusts to envy. The spirit within us lusteth to envy. Spirit is against the flesh, and the flesh is against the spirit, so you cannot do the things that you would. That's the war that's going on inside of you. That's the battle that is being waged within you at this moment, as the preaching of the word of God is going on, and the Holy Ghost of God is in you, shining light on that thing, exposing you for who you are, exposing you for what you've done, showing you where you've offended against the Holy God. That's why it hurts. That's why it hurts. Because you're fighting against the one that made you. And you know he's right, but it hurts to admit that you're wrong. And that you've been wrong all along. But until you come to the end of yourself, you humble yourself under the hand of Almighty God. I've got a quote to you, I'm gonna read you Psalm 69. It just popped in my head. Psalm 69 verse 29, but I am poor and sorrowful. Let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high. I will praise the name of God with a song and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or a bullock that hath horns and hooves. This is the Lord Jesus Christ crying from your place in hell unto his Father. This is his faith showing forth the fact that you can have resurrection. This is the faith of Jesus Christ. We are justified not by the works of the law, but by the faith of Christ. This is that very faith being shown here. I will praise the name of God with a song in the midst of his torment, in the midst of his agony, in the midst of the travail of his soul. He still believes that he's going to walk before the Lord in the land of the living. And then verse 32, it says this, the humble shall see this and be glad. But you're not gonna see it if you have pride. You're not gonna see these things if you have pride. You're not gonna see Jesus Christ in the candlestick if you have pride. You're not gonna see the Holy Ghost in the oil if you have pride. You're not gonna see those seven eyes. You're not gonna see those seven names. You're not gonna see those seven spirits. You're not gonna see the engraving on the stone. You're not gonna see the branch. You're not gonna see any of that if you've got pride. And every one of us in here has pride, so we beg God that he'd hide it from us so we can see Jesus Christ with clarity, because that's what he desires. More than anything else in the world, he wants you to see Jesus Christ clearly. Because if you can see Jesus, the rest of the world will fade into nothing. And all of a sudden, those sins Plural, the fruit of your sin nature won't have the stronghold that it used to have on your heart. When you get just a glimpse of his glory, the pain of everything that everyone has ever done to you in the past drifts away. In the light of his holiness, your own sin is gone. but not against your will. If your will is not for him to search you, he's not gonna search you. If your will is not to believe him, he's not gonna do anything in you. And one day he will send you a strong delusion and you are going to believe a lie and you will be forever damned. says the humble shall see this and be glad, and your heart shall live that seek God. Now we can go to John 15. John 15 in verse 26. So that was our introduction. The whole purpose of the Holy Ghost is to shine the light upon Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is that true light that lighteth every man which cometh into the world. How is he lit there by the Holy Ghost? The Holy Ghost is that oil in the lamp that burns within you. The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly. I, the Lord, search the heart. I try the reins, even to give every man, every individual man, every individual woman, child, and everyone alive. I, the Lord, search the heart. I try the reins, even to give every man according to his doings, according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. But John 15, 26, he says, but when the Comforter is come, note this, that's a present tense, is. Amen, and confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is not of God. And you will find continually throughout every other version of the Bible, they change that to a past tense, was, has, did. continually. And so, every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God. By their own testimony, those Bibles were not written by God. I don't need manuscript evidence to prove to me that this Bible is the word of God. God does it. I will never, ever, ever throw any condemnation upon anybody that brings any other Bible in here. You can bring whatever Bible you want. Just know I'm going to preach from this Bible. I'm going to preach from the King James Bible. I'm not going to do it braggadociosly because that would be out of my pride. That would be against my own soul if I were to do that. Let me take a little segue out of here for just a second. The man of God must not strive, but be patient unto all men, apt to teach, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves, if God for adventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth. What that means is, I should never strive with man. The Spirit of Jesus Christ does that. He said in Genesis 6-3, my spirit shall not always strive with man, but yet he still strives with man today. The Spirit of Jesus Christ striving with you this morning, trying to show you Himself in the volume of that book. The Spirit of God must not strive. It must be apt to teach, patient, in meekness, knowing that there's a God in heaven. Knowing that anything said against me is not against me, it's against God. Knowing that any argument that arises in your heart, listen, you can hate me. I am okay with that. You can disagree 100% with me. You can disagree with me 43%, okay? It does not bother me. These things that I preach and that I teach, I know that they are from God. I've spent time with Him. I've labored with Him in these scriptures. In meekness, instructing those that oppose themselves. What is the perfect picture of somebody that opposes themselves? It's somebody that's wrapped around with a rope, and they're holding both ends of the thing, and they refuse to let go, and complain because they're tired. Let go of the rope. No. I'm not going to do it. You're opposing yourself. Let me explain to you. If you let go of both ends of that rope, it will fall. No, it will not. I'm wrapped up with this rope. I can't even move. Yes, but you can let go of the rope. And they let go of the rope, and it falls to their feet, and they step out of that thing, and they're no longer bound. That's what it means in uniqueness, instructing those that oppose themselves. But it follows, and it says, if God, per adventure, and that means, maybe God will, and maybe He won't. If God, per adventure, will give them repentance, repentance is a gift from God. If you are able to change your mind about yourself and about God, it is because God has gifted you that thing. Because a man of God, in meekness, has instructed you, and you are opposing yourself. And what comes out of that instruction is that you will acknowledge the truth, the Word of God. That's what that means. And so I will never criticize you, and I will never ever condemn you for bringing whatever version of the Bible you want to in here. That is fine. You do what you think you need to before God. And I'm gonna preach this Bible. We're gonna let God sort it out. I can't convince you. I know manuscript evidence. I know Greek and Hebrew, some of it. I know all the history behind all of that. I know the history behind the revisers. I know all of that. I know about the purifications of the King James Bible from 1611 to the present. I know all that history. I know all of that. That has never once convinced me that the Word of God is the King James Bible. The doctrine that I find in here, though, does. And even that little word, is. but when the comforter is calm. Present tense, not has, not does, is. When the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth," and there we have a connection. I want you to grab hold of that and hang onto it and file it away. The Comforter is the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost is the Comforter. The Comforter is the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth, okay? These connections you can find. And when you find the spirit of truth spoken of elsewhere, or you find the word comfort spoken of, you find that the Holy Ghost is connected with that thing. Let's keep going. But the comforter is come, whom I will send, even the spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, it says, he shall testify of me. Now a testimony is a declaration. So the Holy Ghost, the Comforter, when he has come, he is going to declare Jesus Christ. He's going to speak it. He's going to make that verbal testimony of Jesus Christ. He's going to show you Jesus Christ in the volume of the book. If you have ears to hear, eyes to see, and a heart to understand. But all three of those have to be prepared. The scales have to fall from your eyes. Your ear has to be circumcised. And God has to give you a fleshy heart, not a fleshly heart. If you live after the flesh, you shall die. All right, that would be living fleshly. A fleshy heart is a heart that is soft and squishy and can have the law of God imprinted on it, which he promised he would do, if you just believe him. Verse 27, and ye also shall bear witness because ye have been with me from the beginning. I want to talk about this comforter, this Holy Ghost a little bit. If you look at John 14 and verses 16 and 17, he again connects this thing here. It says, I will pray the Father and he shall give you another comforter. And I love that, another comforter. The Holy Ghost isn't your only comforter. Jesus Christ is also your comforter or else he wouldn't have said another comforter. And that's where you can get into, oh, where is it? Colossians chapter two, I believe it is, the first few verses there. But it says, even the spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him, but ye know him, for he dwelleth with you and shall be in you. And this is a very interesting statement. Because Jesus Christ says that the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Truth, dwelleth with you and shall be in you. That's a future text, okay? Shall is something that's gonna happen in the future. But he dwelleth in you, or with you, right now. Jesus says, the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, is dwelling with you. How is that possible? Where was the Holy Ghost that whole time? Was he there just kind of floating about as they were walking around? Where was he? Colossians 2, 9 has the answer. Keep your place here. Turn to Colossians 2, 9. I want you to see this with your own eyes. This was life-altering for me when I saw this verse and understood the doctrine of what it's actually saying. This opened up so much more understanding of the Godhead is when I understood this verse. Look at this, Colossians 2 and verse 9. It says, for in Him, in who? In Christ, dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. So how is the Holy Ghost dwelling with them and was going to be in them? Because the Holy Ghost was dwelling in the body of Jesus Christ. He was there with them. Now what's precious about that is if you're born of God today, then you have a closer relationship with the Holy Ghost of God than those disciples did when they walked with Jesus. You have an even closer relationship with Jesus Christ, if you're truly born of God, than those disciples did when they walked with him and looked at him. than John who laid his head on the breast of Jesus and heard that life-giving blood pumping through his heart. The blood of God. Peter goes on to say that we have a more sure word of prophecy than even hearing the voice of God from heaven manifested. In the volume of this book. In him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. In John chapter one, it says in verse 14, and the Word was made flesh. Verse one says, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word was made flesh. The flesh of Jesus Christ, his body, what he walked around with, what was nailed to that tree, what was bit upon, what had the curse of the thorns drove down upon his head, that flesh was made out of the word of God. Because it says that the word was made flesh. And in that flesh, which would not see corruption, dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead. The Holy Ghost dwelled in the body of Jesus Christ. God the Father dwelled in the body of Jesus Christ. Which then brings us back to our candlestick. Consider this if you would. That was not just any gold. That was pure gold. That pure gold was beaten to the point where it was useful for something. It was shapen in the form of a candlestick, 100 talents of it, or one talent of gold, 100 pounds worth. Now, what was in those bowls? Oil. In the candlestick, you have the pure gold of the father. And Jesus said, I and my father are one. So in turn, according to the words of Jesus Christ, you have the pure gold of the deity of the eternal word of God. And then in those bowls, you have the Holy Ghost of God represented in that oil. All three in that one body of Jesus Christ. And that Holy Ghost of God burns to show you Jesus Christ. through the pages of this book. It's all him. It all fits. It all matches up. And then when you think about this, the comforter, when he has come, he dwells with you now, he dwells with you and shall be in you. The Spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, stretching all the inward parts of the belly. And then 1 John 2.20, And ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. An unction is an anointing. What do you anoint with? Oil. But every anointing I've ever preached is on the outward parts. It is in that outward poured over his head, down Aaron's beard, across those holy gardens, and onto the ground. No one's touching his flesh. Ah, but the unction of God is an unction on the inward parts. It's an anointing on the inward parts from that holy oil, the Holy Ghost. And he burns within you at this moment, revealing Jesus Christ to you on the inward parts. That is that candlestick. That is that one that we see. Says that he shall testify of me. Turn to 1 Corinthians 12, 11. 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and verse 11. Speaking of all these gifts, all this word of prophecy, and the discerning of spirits, and the kinds of tongues, and diverse kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues, and we don't have time to go into all of that right now, but look at verse 11. It says, but all these worketh that one and selfsame spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. One key for unlocking some discernment in your King James Bible is whenever there's a capital S spirit used, and it's connected with the word he. It is always referring to the Holy Ghost. When it's referring to it, it'll be referring to Jesus' spirit or the Father's spirit. This is the Holy Ghost here. And these gifts are used to help us, to help us to understand. That interpretation of tongues has never left. This Bible is the interpretation of the Holy Ghost from Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic into English. I do not believe that the King James translators had any kind of apostolic power or authority, but what they did was they had understanding because of the Spirit of God in them manifested by the Holy Ghost. There's a spirit in man, and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. And I'm not even a Rachmanite, if you understand what that means. Let's keep going. Go to 2 Peter chapter 1. 2 Peter 1, verse 20 says this, knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man. But holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. And when you go into that Old Testament and you see men prophesy, you see the King Saul prophesy, you see Elijah prophesy, Moses prophesy, Abraham prophesy, you see all these men prophesy. David, he prophesied. Asaph, he prophesied. They were moved by the Holy Ghost. What was that? That was the Spirit of Christ in them, being lit by the oil of the Holy Ghost, showing them Jesus Christ. Say, how did that work? Go to 1 Peter 1.11. Ah, you know what, let's start at verse three. 1 Peter 1.3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen and amen. which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." We are born again by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, not from just his death. That's why he had to resurrect. The real reason why he had to resurrect was because he died, was buried, and rose again according to the scripture. And Jesus himself said the scripture cannot be broken. That's why he rose from the dead. because God said he would in the volume of the book. To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time. Cross-referenced that with Romans 10.13 sometime. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if ye need be, you're in heaviness through manifold temptations, that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than that of gold, that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Where do you think that fire comes from? Do you think it might be from the lamps that are burning before the throne of God? Whom, having not seen, ye love. In whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice, and here it is, with joy unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Again, Romans 10, 13. Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you. And here it is, searching what? So these prophets, they were searching what? Or what manner of time? The spirit of Christ which was in them. Now question, whose spirit was that? Christ's. It literally says it's the spirit of Christ. Don't change that to the Holy Ghost. That's the spirit of Christ. That's what your Bible literally says. The Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify when it, all right, there we go, our rule, capital S Spirit, but it says it, speaking of a thing. The Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify when it testified beforehand of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow. And here we have it, though. Oh, it says here, verse 12, unto whom it was revealed that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven, which things the angels desire to look into. Those prophets of old, Abraham, Moses, David, Asaph, Elijah, Isaiah, you go through every single prophet, you go through all those minor prophets, Zechariah, you go through all the men of God of old that stood up and prophesied with the power of God, and Jesus Christ was in them. That's why David prophesies in Psalm 22, verse 1, and he says, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me from the words of my roaring? Who said those words? It was Jesus Christ on the cross! So why did David say it in the first person? Because Christ was the one speaking – in David. And it was the Holy Ghost of God, as that oil burning within, that lit that up. Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. You see, Jesus Christ died according to the Scriptures. Not according to Baptist theology. Not according to Catholic theology. They still have him on the cross. Baptist theology took him from the cross to the grave and left him out, and that was it. No, he died according to the Scriptures. And the Scriptures say, Thou wilt not lead my soul into hell. And thou wilt not suffer thy own holiness, see corruption. Peter said, as concerning David, his sepulchre is with us into this day. But these things were not of David, these were of Jesus Christ, wherein he said, Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer his flesh to see corruption. Why? Because it was the word of God. That's why. Truly, in the volume of the book it is written of me. And it was the Spirit of Christ which was in them that did signify these things. And the Holy Ghost of God was the oil in that lamp. I'm not gonna go there. Let's go back to John 15. Lest you become weary, I am almost done. John 15, 27 says this, and ye also shall bear witness because ye have been with me from the beginning. Is he speaking to you? No. He's speaking to his, well, at this point, 11. He's speaking to those apostles that were with him. This is a prophecy that is fulfilled in Acts chapter one. So turn to Acts chapter one. Acts chapter one in verse four, it says this. Ah, no, we can't cut out the Holy Ghost out of this. Let's start at verse one. The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach. Underline that word began and then study that out. Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he, through the Holy Ghost, had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen. How did he do that? Because he said, he's with you and he shall be in you. to whom also he showed himself alive after his passion, and by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God, and being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me." What promise was that? That was of the Holy Ghost. For truly John did baptize with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. And they therefore were come together, and they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom unto Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father hath put into his own power. And then we have a very often misapplied verse. Preached one time by Joe Davis, correctly. Joe Davis works with preach evangelistic ministries. But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth. This is not the Great Commission. This is Jesus Christ prophesying of what his disciples were going to do. This is him prophesying of that very thing. That thing that he spoke of in John chapter 15, he reiterates here. Ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me. We're to witness to Jesus. Why do we think we're witnessing to the world? The world doesn't wanna hear it. You witness unto Jesus, and Jesus will work in the world. He'll work in that stony heart. The Holy Ghost of God will burn within them. They won't be able to get away from the Word of God. But it's your words, it's your formula, it's your pattern. It's gonna fall flat. There may be a little bit of green that springs up quickly, but as soon as that sun comes out, it's done. It's burned up. But if you want that fruit to remain and to bring forth a hundredfold, you witness unto Jesus. You tell what Jesus did for you. You tell what Jesus showed you in this book. You go to that world and you say, this is Jesus. He's that candlestick. This is him. He's pure gold. He is God. He's that eternal worm made flesh. That's what God can work with. But our piddly little patterns and fancy little prayers, that doesn't do anything. The Word of God is gonna do anything in this world. It has to be preached, it has to be believed by those that are preaching it. Look at chapter two, verse one. It says, when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place, and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire. just like those lamps that are burning to give light over against the candlestick. And it sat upon each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, just as those knops and those bowls that are shaped like almonds were filled with oil, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded, because every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? This scripture tells you that God speaks to you in the language that you were born in. He doesn't speak to you in the language of Hebrew unless you were born a Hebrew. He doesn't speak to you in ancient Greek unless you were born in ancient Greece. Every single person in this room today was born speaking and learned as your native tongue the English language. So what language do you think God speaks to you in? What language does your heart speak? Why would He try to confuse you? Yes, scholarship says you need to know Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic, you need to know Latin, you need to know all of these things to find the deeper things of God. When all along God has already done that, moved all those things which are imperfect out of the way, and that which is perfect is come. So you can find Jesus Christ in the volume of the book and fulfill the prophecy of Psalm 40 verse 7, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God, in the volume of the book it is written of me. That's why. Verse nine, Parthenians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers of Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Cappadocia, and Pontus, and Asia, and Phrygia, and Pamphylia, and Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, and Jews, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. which is what the Holy Ghost of God has been doing with mankind from the beginning of mankind. He burns within you, and He gives you that light so that you can see Him, so that you can know Him, so you can see the wonderful works of God. May that candlestick, which was of God, contain the pure gold of God. That candlestick, which represents Jesus Christ, also had those bowls, and it contained that holy oil, which represents the Holy Ghost. Do you realize He's made you into a candlestick? Christ dwelleth in you, and you dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead. That's our study on the candlestick.
