Welcome to the Bible Believers Podcast with myself, David Makaroff. This is a podcast on YouTube primarily where the desire is first and foremost to honor the Lord Jesus Christ. This comes on the back and believing the gospel, believing that Jesus Christ died in the place of sinners, and believing that Lord Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation. So if you know Jesus Christ, then you're saved from your sins. If you don't know the Lord Jesus Christ, you must repent of your sin and believe on him in order that you might be saved. So good evening to our welcome guests, Ian Harris and Hannah Gill and Margaret Kerr. Welcome to you and others who are joining us now for this Bible Believers podcast. Another solemn subject today, and this is the subject of euthanasia. subject that Christians are very much interested in, and everybody should be interested in. Kim, welcome, and Brian, welcome, and Britannia, welcome. And that was a great book you sent me, Kim, thank you very much. Excellent book. And Nikan, hello as well to you and Chris. And Geraldine, good evening. So let me press on with this. First of all, I want to make a note that the open-air work is continuing here in Kidderminster, and in my assessment there's serious spiritual warfare going on here. God has called a number of people to earnest prayer for this town and I've been able to make some inroads in preaching the gospel. There does seem to me to be a problem with some young people with alcohol in the city, in the town centre, and possibly drugs as well, but either way My prayer is that God would return to this town in revival power and that people would come under conviction of sin from his Holy Spirit and turn to Jesus Christ and believe on him for the saving of their souls. That's Kidderminster. Kathy and Bernadette, welcome. So, and then also I was meeting with some people today actually here in Kidderminster and had the opportunity to discuss the Welsh Chapel's project. You haven't heard me mention that for a while. but I'm hoping I can meet up with some people who might be interested in taking on some of the buildings in Wales, in the Valleys area of Wales. I've spoken to the owner of the chapels and may be trying to arrange a meeting between various parties next week. That's good. We long to see God's work prosper in the Valleys. Three chapels have been reopened so far. Not my work, the work of others. I thank the Lord for that. Two of them in the Merthyr Valley and one of them in the Aberdare Valley. And Annette, welcome, and Brian, very warm welcome to you as well. So the Welsh Chapels Project is going forward, please continue to pray for Christy Higgs case, the judges are still deliberating, I don't know whether it'll be a month or two months before they produce their report, I have no idea what the outcome will be, clearly I think Christy Higgs is not has not done anything wrong. And parents in this country and even employees in schools should be able to question the material that is given to children without fear of censure. But these are the days we're living in. Well, I want to pray now, then we're going to look at various scriptures. And so we'll start with prayer. Normally we pray after we've read the Bible. But let's pray. Father, we pray that you'd help us to understand better the issue of euthanasia. We pray, Heavenly Father, that as Christians, you'll help us to let our light shine in these days. Father, we thank you that the Lord Jesus Christ died to save sinners such as ourselves. We once were in darkness. We once were in moral darkness, spiritual darkness. We could not see. We didn't even know that we were blind. We didn't even know that we were pitiful and naked, Lord. We thought we were doing well and then the day came when you sent your word to us and we were awakened and we saw our wretchedness and we saw our folly, we saw our wickedness and you revealed the Lord Jesus Christ to us and you brought us and drew us with the bands of love and saved us by your grace. Father, thank you for the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for his love for us. Thank you for the salvation that we have received from him. Thank you for his blood shed for us. Thank you for his body broken for us. Thank you that he is the saviour of the world and thank you that he is resurrected, ascended and reigning in heaven and will soon return. So we ask and pray that you be with us this evening. Father have mercy upon your people in Florida. Have mercy upon your people in North Carolina. Father, have mercy upon people in the Middle East who love the Lord Jesus Christ, and may their witness shine at this time. Mercy upon people in Lebanon and Gaza and Iran, Lord, and Saudi Arabia, who love the Lord Jesus Christ. Mercy upon your people in Israel, and we pray for the Jews that they return to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is their true Messiah. Father, have mercy upon us and feed us this evening, we ask and pray in Jesus' precious name. Amen. Now, I should note that in the description, Lan, welcome to you from Dallas, and Amanda, welcome to you as well. And Marion, welcome to you. And yes, it was a great blessing to see you and your husband, Tony today, Marion. Thank you to know that you're praying for kinamens to so much. So that's great. So yes, going back to this channel, I put in the description below, I put a link to the Christian Concern page on the proposed legislation for assisted dying here in the United Kingdom. This comes up all the time, but we have a new government that seems to be determined to push through a leftist agenda, and that includes things like assisted dying. It just seems to be so godless and so dark in its principles, even more so than previous governments which have done enough damage because of their godlessness. But I put links below to that and I put a link below also to the newsletter which will soon be launched we hope we've got we're compiling a mailing list I say we Sonia W from Toronto is very kindly administering that and and the Edified Ear Collection, which is at podbean.com. That's being run by Sonia. But I'm in charge of that, or at least I'm responsible for that. And then also there are links below for people who'd like to contribute to this ministry. It does run on the gifts of God's people and it can't run by itself. and if anybody would like to contribute to the gospel preaching and to the live broadcasts here and to the podbean work and other work that goes on, then they're very welcome to do so. Lan's asked if I've got messages. Just briefly, Lan, I haven't received any messages from you. I can check later, but I'm not aware. Normally I get a notification if you send me messages, so I haven't, I'm afraid. Carol, welcome to you. So let's press on with our study. Euthanasia, the British government is wanting to push through with great speed assisted dying legislation. These are laws which have already been passed in places like Canada and Holland and people have availed themselves of them and we read with horror some of the accounts of the things that have happened because of the passing of this legislation. There's nothing new about this. This approach or this push for legislation on assisted dying comes around again and again and again. It's as though they can't take no for an answer, so as soon as one proposed law fails another one is introduced. But this government seems determined to bring this through. 40 years ago when I was training to be a doctor, All of this was being discussed then, but there was very strong feeling against euthanasia, both in the nation and in the medical profession at that time. And now it's much, much more to the fore, and a lot of doctors would support it now. Not the majority of doctors, I don't believe, but we're not going to get a say in that, I don't think. It's a mark of our godlessness. It's a mark of us rejecting God, that we would consider killing the vulnerable and And again, this is brought forward with lots of emotive examples of people who have suffered terrible things, no question about that, they've suffered terrible things, but the idea is this is just to relieve their suffering and that's all there is to it. There's not all there is to it. If we bring in assisted dying, there is the issue of what happens after death, because there's judgment after death, and there's the issue of the effect on the value of life as a whole. There's also the question of compassion in society and compassion in healthcare, that we can look after people. There's also the question of some of us having conditions which are painful, which are prolonged. which we can't treat, which we can't help. Sometimes, as an A&E doctor, I used to say to people, I used to say the two most common things that I would say to my patients was, I don't know what's wrong with you, and I'm really sorry, but there's nothing I can do for you. And if you can learn to say those as a doctor, it's really important because it's very, very important that people have an accurate understanding of the limitations of the medical profession. As a profession, we've often tried to play God. We're doing that by pretending that a man can become a woman or a woman can become a man. We've been handed over to godlessness, darkness, immorality, a love of culture of death and foolishness because of our forsaking of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the work of God. duty to care, not duty to kill. Well, again, thank you for that comment, Geraldine. The thing about it is that, you know, we have this, don't we, that we want to play God. So we want to destroy life at the beginning. We want to destroy life at the end. And we want to say that we're, we have authority and we have power over these things and that there is no God and we can do what we like, but we can't, we can't get away with it. Our times are in God's hands, not in our own hands. And if we do that, then God will, God sees it and he will hold us accountable. It's a mark of godlessness that we would do this. If a Christian says, yes, I believe in assisted dying, they don't understand what the Bible says. They don't understand who they are or what God, who God is and what, who man is. So, and again for us as Christians, yes we may suffer in this world but there's much, much, much better things in the world to come and our time here is short. It may seem long to us but it's short. Yes, so Genesis 127, first of all, just go back to, so God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them. So man isn't just an animal, he didn't just evolve. It didn't just happen because it happened to be an explosion in somewhere in nothing. And long time later, bingo, his mankind, we are creatures created in the image of God. We therefore have dignity, we therefore have purpose, and we also have accountability to almighty God. And these things, we're beautiful as well, we're created beautiful before God. And the thing about this is that, although that image is marred by sin, our sins, the thing is this, that that makes us a unique creature. And if somebody takes our life, then that's murder, that's breaking God's commandments. and we become guilty before God. So we read on in Genesis, and we find that Cain killed Abel, the first murder. Cain wasn't punished with death for that, but he received a mark and banishment. But in Genesis 9, verse 6, after the flood, God says this. He says, Genesis chapter 9, verse 6, whoso shedeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed. For in the image of God made he man. Then we have the image of God again, something important about it, something important. If you take somebody's life unlawfully, then that makes you accountable to God because the person whose life you've taken is made in the image of God. That should make us fear. It should make us tremble at God's word. So Ian says, I think he's saying truth demands prior judgment on the value of life. And who can possibly provide that? Well, God does in his word. We're made in the image of God, the value of our life. And again, what we just read in Genesis 9 says, who so shedeth man's blood by man shall his blood be shed. That's an extremely high value on human life. And the reason I'm saying this is because if you're a doctor who practices euthanasia, if somebody comes to you and you give them a lethal injection or something like that, then you are guilty of killing somebody. And God calls that the shedding of innocent blood. He calls it murder, whether it's abortion, whether it's the unborn child, Whether it's later on in life, somebody who has dementia or somebody who wants to die, you help somebody who wants to die, it's still unlawful killing before Almighty God. And you may be considered to be a paragon of virtue, you may be considered to be a pillar of society, you may be considered to be an expert at your medical arts, but before God you're a murderer. And if you don't receive justice in this world, because the law of the land justifies what God hates, you will receive justice in the next world. This warning needs to go to the government and it needs to go to the medical profession. Whoso shedeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God made he man. That also is, of course, a call for capital punishment for the crime of murder. But again, because we reject God, because we hate God, because we cast off the knowledge of God, we also lessen that and we have life sentences or even short sentences for the sin and crime of murder. Let's skip over now to Psalm 8 in verse 4. Psalm 8 in verse 4, where we have these words, again, just talking about man, just about the dignity of man. Psalm 8 verse 4, what is man that thou art mindful of him and the son of man that thou visitest him. So the question is, what is man? And the answer is for thou has made him a little lower than the angels and has crowned him with glory and honor. So we're not, we didn't evolve. We're not just animals. We are crowned with glory and honor. We are made a little lower than the angels in perhaps in power and in wisdom and in strength. But we are nevertheless the pinnacle of God's creation and his delight is with us. And it is, we are the ones for whom he sent his son to die and pay the penalty for our sins. Man is made a little lower than the angels and has crowned him with glory and honor. We should tremble to take the life of human beings under any circumstances. In war, I believe in a just war, I believe in war you have to fight an enemy, but other than that, we should tremble at this. Proverbs 8 verses 35 to 36 talks about the culture of death, and this is something which I always preach on these verses at this time of year, particularly in the open air, and the reason being because of course Halloween is coming up very soon, and every year the Every year, the costumes that children wear, the things that are on sale in the shops, the things that go up on the BBC website, some of you have seen my previous video on that, are more and more grotesque. I think two years ago, the BBC was celebrating the fact that somebody had an open fridge on their front lawn with dismembered dolls covered in tomato ketchup, making it look like children were being eaten in that house. The BBC was revelling in that, but I think they toned it down. Others must have complained as well. The thing is that these verses are very fitting for Halloween, but they're also fitting for the question of euthanasia. So Proverbs 8 is talking about the Lord Jesus Christ personifying the wisdom of God, which is the Lord Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God. And so verse 35 of Proverbs 8, for whoso findeth me, findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the Lord. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul, All they that hate me love death. You see the connection there between rejecting Christian doctrine, Christian teaching, Christian truth, rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ, which this nation has done in great measure, and a love of death. This is a love of death, isn't it? This is a culture of death. This is saying, well, what's wrong with death? You can always die. Your life isn't worth living, so die. And there's no consequences for that. No fear of God, no concern, nothing. In fact, that's my next verse as well. Romans 3, verse 18 says, and this defines our age. Really, it does here in England and other countries represented here. Carol says, horrid season, so ugly. Yes, Halloween is horrible. And the number of people shouting at me in the open air here in Kidderminster in the last week that they love Satan is just, they didn't used to do that, but they do that now without even thinking about what it is that they're saying, without even thinking about the person that they claim to follow and claim to love. I just said to them, I said, Satan lost, Jesus won. He's defeated foe. So Proverbs, sorry, Romans 3 verse 18, again, well, just read a few verses here, but Proverbs 3, sorry, I mean Romans 3, I mean not Proverbs 3, Romans 3, and I was looking at Romans 9 by the way. So let's see this. As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one. There is none that understandeth. There is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way. They are together become unprofitable. There is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre. With their tongue they have used deceit. The poison of asps is under their lips. whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. That reminds me of euthanasia and abortion. And also the unsolved and unresolved murders in this country, because we aren't adequately policing crime, but we are policing pronouns. Verse 16, destruction and misery are in their ways. And the way of peace have they not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. How could we pass laws that say that we can have assisted dying, euthanasia, and these things? Well, the answer is there is no fear of God before their eyes. There don't seem to be any politicians who are thundering the gospel, who are speaking up for the Lord Jesus Christ. The Church of England is silent, and she is supporting all kinds of wickedness and has made God her enemy and made herself God's enemy. There's no fear of God before their eyes, and there's no more perilous state a nation can come into than that. God is handing us over to our sins. He's handing us over to unrestrained evil. And therefore, it's no surprise, therefore, that euthanasia is being debated with the hope of pushing it through, finally, in these days. Marion says, our land has come into a place of great evil, but God, we will push on in prayer, believing that he is able to do abundantly more than we could ask for or imagine. Amen. Thank you, Marion. Greetings Annette again. So Romans 3, there is no fear of God before their eyes. Why are we pushing through euthanasia? Because there is no fear of God before their eyes. Why is there euthanasia in Canada? Because there is no fear of God before their eyes. Why is there a sister dying in Holland? Because there is no fear of God before their eyes. Anybody who feared God would fear to lay a finger on another human being. would do everything they could to help that person, to relieve their suffering, to have compassion on them. That's the Christian way. Romans 9 27. Romans 9 27 tells us about what happens after death. There's no fear of God before their eyes, so they don't fear death. Let's say Hebrews 9.27. Hebrews 9.27. Sorry, I'm giving the wrong references, as usual. Hebrews 9.27. There's no fear of God before their eyes. They don't fear dying. They don't fear death. They don't fear God. And they laugh off judgment. And again, just every week I'm talking to people, young people come and talk to me, they say, couldn't care less about hell, quite happy to go there, doesn't bother me. And you think, if you really understood what you were saying, but their lives have been so devalued by abortion, their lives have been so devalued by transgenderism and woke ideology, their lives have been so devalued by this discussion about assisted dying. And when people's lives are devalued, then they don't, because they don't see the value of human life, and they don't see the significance of eternity, quite apart from seeing their sins and seeing their need for repentance. There's this sort of nihilism, there's this fatalism, there's this stoicism, what's going on now in the world that we couldn't care less. Well, you know, we couldn't care less. We're just happy to go along. And if a Christian comes along and preaches the gospel, we'll tell him that we worship Satan, which they do. Jesus would have said to them, you are of your father, the devil, but the Lord Jesus can rescue you. You might say you've sold your soul to the devil. Well, you are already sold to him and Jesus can rescue you. He can set you free. He can snatch you from the burning. He can deliver you from a strong man, heavily armed, because he is stronger by far, mightier by far. And he crushed Satan's head when he died on the cross. And that's what I tell young people all the time when they tell me that they worship Satan. They seem to think they can upset me by saying that or shake me or overpower the gospel. They can't. Satan is a defeated foe. Hebrews 9, 27. As it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. So there is no such thing as a mercy killing. Because after death comes judgment. The person says, well, I will die, and then that's the end of it. When you're dead, you're dead, they say. Or you're reincarnated, but they don't think about judgment. And they say, well, if there is a judgment, I'll be all right. I keep the Ten Commandments. I'm not bad. I mean, I was speaking to a man in the open air yesterday, who was about 45 years old, and he told me he'd never told a lie. And I said, well, did you tell a lie to your parents when you were young? Oh, yes, he said, but that's when I was a child. That doesn't count. I don't know how you can reason with such people. But lying, of course, is sin, is murder. And the thing is this, that after death comes judgment. And so those who believe that a way to get away from suffering is euthanasia, have deceived themselves, but they that hate the wisdom that comes from God, those who hate the Lord Jesus Christ, love death. And people say to me, I don't want it. I don't want this gospel. I say, I know you don't. And they'll say, I love my sins. And I say, I know you do. The Bible tells me that you do. You love your sins. You're lost in your sins. You're caught in your sins until the Lord Jesus Christ sets you free, until the Holy Spirit comes upon you and convicts you. But after death comes judgment. And we have to be absolutely clear about that judgment. There's no such thing as mercy killing. If we go to Luke chapter 16, verse 23, Luke chapter 16, verse 23, we have these chilling words from the Lord Jesus Christ, who's telling us about the situation of a certain man who rejected the gospel, had his good things in this world, and then died, and went to hell. So Luke 16, verse 23 says, and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. So this man was in torment in hell. And let's just read what he said. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivest thy good things and likewise Lazarus evil things. But now he is comforted, thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you, there is a great gulf fixed. so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot, neither can they pass to us that would come from thence." So once you're in hell, you're in hell for eternity. And I'm not going to moderate my language, because the Lord Jesus spoke about hell as a place of everlasting torment. And those who love death and have no fear of God before their eyes and think that death is the end and that's it, they can get away from it, will find themselves in hell. And we've got to say, when we're being honest with scriptural language, that the sufferings of this world, however bad they are, are nothing compared to the sufferings of eternity in hellfire, fire and outer darkness and wailing and gnashing of teeth and all the ways in which the Lord Jesus describes it. We have to warn people. They that hate me love death because there is no fear of God before their eyes. They don't fear judgment and therefore they love death. And they think it's compassionate to talk about taking people's lives. It's not compassionate, it's murderous. There is no mercy killing. The same is true for the Christian. Some Christians, I mean, we've come on in the medical profession and we can be very, very helpful to people who are suffering, but there are some people whose sufferings we can only relieve partly or with difficulty. But again, as Christians, our lives are in God's hands. We have no right to take our own lives. We have no right to euthanasia. Because that is us saying we don't trust God. I'm not belittling the sufferings of some Christians. I know that there are people who are on this website who have conditions which cause them great pain and suffering. But we must bring those to the Lord. We must bring those to the Lord, but we have no right to take our own lives, because we belong to God. After death comes judgment, and the judgments of God. So we have to say this, mercy killing is not a mercy. It's Jesus Christ who shows us mercy. It's the forgiveness of our sins that leads to mercy. It's the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses us from all sin. Revelation 9 verse 6. We have a curious case here during the Great Tribulation, and I believe this will happen soon. Revelation 9 verse 6, where people want to... Now we have people who want to die, but can't die. And I suppose that is the same as this, but in some respects, but it's different. Because now they can be killed, and the government is going to bring in a law that says they can be killed if they want to be. Revelation 9 verse 6 is the opposite. God will stop them from dying. In those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it, and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. That's so that God's judgments can be worked out on the earth. You see, people think that they are in control of their own lives, but God is in control of our lives. He's in control of the day of our birth, the day of our conception, the day of our birth, and the day of our death. If we try and shorten our lives, we become guilty before God. But the government will bring that in, because there is no fear of God before their eyes. Marian says, it really is heartbreaking to see how lost so many young people are today. Oh, that God would open their eyes to see his truth as you preach. Amen, Marian, amen, and others preaching as well in our streets, in our towns. You can certainly reach them there. I've spoken to a number of young people here in Kidderminster this week, and I really thank God for that. But it's not easy. But you have to be gentle, and you have to persist, and you have to tell them the truth. And you need boldness, which comes from God, because God is quite scary at times. Margaret says, the Lord Jesus came that we might have life more abundantly, John 10 10. Amen, Margaret. Thank you for that. Yes, the Lord Jesus gives us abundant life. And again, we've said that the fact we're made in the image of God means that we have purpose in life. But how much more when we know Jesus Christ, do we have that certain assurance of a purpose in our life, whatever our lives are? God has a purpose for us, and whatever our medical condition, God has a purpose for us. Even if we have dementia, God has a purpose for us. He'll call us home when he's ready, by his means. So Revelation 22 and verses 14 and 15. Revelation 22 verses 14 and 15, we have here, blessed are they that do his commandments, that they might have right to the tree of life, that may enter in through the gates into the city. For without our dogs and sorcerers and whoremongers and murderers and idolaters and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie, or murderers, you see, find their place in hell. So I have to give the government, and I have to give doctors, my medical colleagues, and others a warning that if you do this, if you get into assisted dying, if you assist somebody in dying in this way, God calls you a murderer in his word, in the Bible. That's how strong the language is, and he will count you a murderer, and he will cast you into hell as a murderer if you're involved in this. There's very severe warnings in the scriptures against this. We are made in the image of God. Human life is valuable. Euthanasia and assisted dying make human life cheap. They make it less than human beings made in the image of God. Again, it's all rebellion against God and hatred towards God at its root, at its heart. It is the losing of the fear of God. So the result is more godlessness. God's handed us over to our sins. He's given us the government we deserve, it seems. And we are spiraling downwards faster than ever. We thought things were bad before, but now they are even worse, and they'll continue to get worse, even to the point where when the kingdom of Antichrist is established, Christians are rounded up, hunted down, rounded up, and put to death in large measure throughout the whole world. We're heading towards those days. it was in the days of Noah, there must have been great murder in the days of Noah, when all the thoughts of man's hearts were only evil continually, and as it is today, restraints are being taken away, the wickedness is coming on, the godlessness is being revealed, and So as I said, those, so let's discuss this now, those who are promoting euthanasia are using certain cases of people who have suffered very much, there's no question they've suffered, and we have compassionate Christians towards them because of their suffering, but they're using motive cases, and they say, shouldn't this person be put to death? And the public say, oh yes, that would be much better, that would be a mercy. And with no thought of what God has said in his word, with no fear of God, But this is how the case is drawn forward. This is how people have been won. The hearts of the people have been gradually turned to euthanasia. If you were in this condition, they say, wouldn't you want to have somebody give you a kind injection to end your life? And that's how it goes. And few people understand or think about the wider consequences of doing this. The wider picture isn't seen. It introduces a culture of death in society. We've already got that with abortion. That is bad enough. We said we could never become like the Nazis, didn't we? We said we'd never be like them. And yet we could kill a child because we even suspect they might have some disability in the womb. We say, well, there's a possibility. There's a chance that this child will grow up with X, Y, or Z problems. And we say, right, we'll abort that child. We're doing that. We could never be like the Nazis who would put somebody to death for having funny ears or a mental health problem. In Holland, it was not long since it was publicized that a woman of 30 was given euthanasia because she suffered with depression, and that caused an outcry. But they voted for the government that brought in assisted dying. It's mission creep, isn't it? We say, well, it'll only be in a very limited number of cases, but it's not. It's whoever wants it. It's the same with transgenderism. It's the same with abortion. You can't limit it. You have to give it to whoever wants it, because you've opened the floodgates to this wickedness, this darkness, and this sin of murder. The wider picture is not seen. In Canada, we heard of a young man who had a condition that was curable with expensive treatment. And he was told, we can't afford to give you that treatment, but the good news is we can afford to euthanize you. In other words, no consequences to the system. The system can't tell the difference between the person who needs treatment and the person who can be euthanized. The system just sees the numbers, the figures, the money involved, even for a young person. It's the creep. It's, it's, it's the taking away of compassion in healthcare. We don't have to be compassionate because if your condition is so bad, we can kill you. And killing you isn't going to be compassionate anyway, no matter how much we tell ourselves that we were really kind and we put them out of their misery, put them down like a dying dog. We're all being devalued. Human life is being devalued. One of the things about our Western nations is that we value human life. If you read Hudson Taylor's biography in the 19th century, he was on, I think one of the, I think it was yellow river, but he was there. And, um, one of the. Boatman on the boat he was on fell over and it took him ages and a lot of money to persuade the other boatman to actually try and save that man's life by the time they agreed for some to be paid by him to try and save the man's life he'd already drowned. Life is cheap. Some countries' life is cheap. If life isn't cheap, if we have healthcare systems which are excellent, if we have doctors who care about their patients, if we have laws which protect life, if we have a society that punishes evildoers, it's because we've had Christianity, it's because we've had the Bible, it's because we've had the truth. Men have feared God and they've said we must have laws in accordance with God's laws. A very interesting lecture I heard was by Jo Boot from Canada, who asked how many people had heard of the Empress Theodora. I'm not going to go into that here, but his talk on the Empress Theodora was very, very interesting. She was really the prime mover in bringing Judeo-Christian values into Western law thousands of years ago, because she was Christian. But the thing about it is this, so when we cast that off, there's no limit to the evil that can occur or the wickedness that can follow. So first of all, we have voluntary euthanasia. Somebody says, I want to die. Of course, depression is terrible if somebody would have euthanasia for depression. I've spent my working life trying to help people who've attempted suicide. And the idea that we could just say to somebody, if you want to commit suicide, that's fine. Off you go and do it. Or we'll give you a hand. It's unbearable. unbearable, those non-Christian psychiatric nurses, if they really cared about the patients that they had, that they didn't harm themselves, otherwise they wouldn't be doing the job. And the same is true for most of the doctors I work with. They don't want to do this, but there's a culture of death coming into the medical profession. The medical profession, first of all, lost its mind over transgenderism and now has no bearings, I think. My profession has behaved in an incredibly foolish manner, I believe. The medical profession. I hope the GMC pulls me up by my bootstrings for saying that, because I'd love to go and say it in a GMC court to their faces. General Medical Council, the governing body for doctors here in the United Kingdom. So the thing being that this culture of death comes in when we forget God, when we put away Judeo-Christian values, when we decide that man should be on the throne, when we love darkness rather than light. All of these things come to happen. So first of all, we have voluntary euthanasia. Then we have involuntary euthanasia. Look at all these people with dementia. Isn't it a pity they're still alive? Wouldn't they be better euthanized? And I'm quite sure that that's not far down the pipeline. What about people with funny ears and so on? We've said that already with the Nazis, but the point is that the system will say, you know, we've got to progress. And we've moved from human beings valued, human beings valued as human beings made in the image of God and human life being sacred to human beings as mere economic commodities. The value of a person is only the value that they have for economic value, for adding to the economy. Once they become economically unviable, euthanasia is the answer. That's where we're going. You and I are valued now only by how much we can produce for the economy. That seems to be how our government is acting. cutting down, they want to tax pensioners more and more, they've cut down cold weather payments for pensioners in the United Kingdom. And this is so people who worked all their lives and paid into schemes which would keep them in old age are now considered to be what, well Hitler had a word for it, he called them useless eaters. That's what we fear, that's what we think we're beginning to see in this country. And so the argument becomes, Once you're no longer an economic value, you're of no value to society. And therefore, it's time to get rid of you. But don't worry, there is no God. We live in a material universe. When you're dead, you're dead. That's it. And therefore, this is fine. And it's a reign of terror. We have a fear of death in our hearts. God gave us that. A fear of death. And it's the Lord Jesus that takes away that fear because he conquered death, he triumphed over the grave, he destroyed the last enemy, but it's only in Jesus Christ that we could overcome that fear. Ian says, Mission Creep has society in general next in its sights. Yes, I agree, Ian, I believe so. Britannia says, June, thank you for joining us. What do you think about the Samaritans enabling suicide? They're not allowed to talk people out of suicide. I wasn't aware of that, Britannia, but that would be a very sinister shift in what they do. Not having realized that before, I'm aghast at what you're saying is going on, and I'm really sad to hear that, June, but it's important that we know these things, so thank you for bringing that to our attention. Thank you for your comments about Hudson Taylor's great-great-niece, Marian, and she's a Christian, so that's good. Yeah, so Carol says, people flee from the rule of God straight into the arms of the rule of man and call it freedom. Okay, thank you Britannia. I haven't crossed paths with Samaritans. You might be surprised to know that because I've obviously worked with a lot of people who've been very very depressed and down and so there's this mission creep but again it's the whole of society. Your value is the value of your economic value. Ayn Rand, a philosopher and apparently insider for the New World Order for the Antichrist system, wrote a book called Atlas Shrugged. And in that book, people were valued only in so much as they were able to produce for the system. And anybody who couldn't produce for the system was basically, that was it. I think she called it, what is it, realism or something, her philosophy around, I don't subscribe to it, I think it is shocking. So as long as you can work with your hands and produce something that somebody wants, that's fine. as soon as you can't earn something that somebody wants, either because there isn't a job for you or because you're too old or something like that, or you're ill, well, that's the end. And this is the kind of philosophy which I believe is going to prevail in the anti-crime system. As long as you are of value to the Antichrist, you can eat. As long as you are giving everything you have to the Antichrist system, then you can live. But everybody else are considered useless, and there'll be a breakdown of the welfare system and compassion, and it will be a very, very terrible time for the world, and we know that. And of course, Christians will be considered having nothing to contribute to the Antichrist system, and I'm glad about that. I don't want to contribute anything. to the anti-corruption system. So these things, I believe, they're not done in isolation. They're all going in. It might be this is the plan of the World Economic Forum, or maybe the United Nations. I don't know. I'd have to study that. But the thing about it is this. It's all turning us into commodities, into cattle. Another possibility is on the back of euthanasia, voluntary and involuntary, will be a roaring trade in organs. We already in this country have automatic organ donation now, so it means that the government not only considers our children their property, which I consider a form of slavery, in other words the government can dispose of our children as it chooses, take them off us if we don't agree to teach them certain things and take them out of school, but also our own bodies don't even belong to us. when we die the government takes but here is here is more than that our lives belong to the government we are considered to be the property of the government to be disposed of as they choose that's that's how i see things going and um a culture of death a culture of Totalitarianism, a culture of the state ruling over everything, controlling everything, owning everything, owning the individual. And as soon as the individual ceases to have value to the state, they're on their own and may even in days to come be euthanized. And the problem is, of course, for the medical profession, if you have people coming to you, and you're a general practitioner, and they're asking for euthanasia, and you have people coming to you, and you can't give them the treatment they really need, even if there's a cure, or you have people coming to you in an accident or emergency, and I would have feared this, people coming to me and saying, I would like euthanasia, and I would say, I can't give you that, and then find myself struck off. which is much better than doing it. But the point about this being that when that comes in, just as with abortion, it opens the floodgates to a culture of death. Now, imagine yourself going for an operation, and if any of you are going for an operation, I do want to say this, that you're probably going to be in extraordinarily good hands by people who who are very dedicated to the work and dedicated to the well-being of their patients. So I don't want to put you off having that surgery. Again, we're blessed with an extraordinary high level of health care, generally speaking. And above all that, if we're Christians, we're in God's hands as well. But with the culture of death coming in, if the surgeons and the nurses who are looking after you become indifferent to whether you live or die, If you're multiple, you say, well, I'm not going to try so hard. I no longer care so much about human life. It becomes a whole shift. There's a hardening of heart. Now, there was a hardening of heart when abortion came in. But the people who cared moved out of those parts of health care. But this is something that will affect every part of health care, every doctor, every nurse. And like transgenderism, you can't get away from it. the culture of death spreads, it deepens. And instead of having compassion and going to great lengths and being willing to spend a lot of money to help people who are ill and who are suffering, we become indifferent and cold-hearted and hard-hearted. And people are told, well, yes, we could treat you, but we recommend you have euthanasia because it's cheaper. And as I understand, that's already happening in Canada. terrible a cultural death. This is what happens when you forget God. This is what happens when you cast off the knowledge of God. This is what happens when you have no fear of God before your eyes. That's why it's happening in England. That's why it's happening in your countries. That's why it's happened in Canada and in Holland and in other places. So the effects on the individual would be that they will feel hopeless. One of the things that really troubles me about the young people I meet, some of the young people I meet, for example, here in Kidderminster, some of them come down, they just sit in a certain street, drinking alcohol. I don't know if they're taking drugs or not, but they sit there drinking alcohol, hopelessness. All their school lives, they've been told the most important thing is to express themselves, to find their gender, to work out their sexuality, and now they're hopeless. Now they're out in the big wide world, it doesn't want them, it's spat them out. Or so it seems to me. But this gives a feeling of hopelessness and life is devalued. What is the value of my life? Why should I be saved? I'm worthless. We have to cut through that. We have to tell people that they're made in the image of God and that they are valuable and that their lives are valuable and that they shouldn't allow themselves to live in godlessness. And then it can lead to this feeling of indifference or rebellion against God. Why should I care? I don't care if I go to hell. What difference does it make? Having been told they're really important, they now have hopelessness. And Kim's got a broken heart over this. I think we all should have broken hearts over the state of these young people who've been lied to. who spent their school life, some of them, thinking the most important thing was expressing themselves. Incidentally, the way things are looking to me, this is my assessment of things, is that this younger generation is going to rise up with such anger, with such anger against the older generation, whether or not the older generation are responsible, they will blame the older generation, will rise up with such anger against the older generation because of this emptiness they have, because of what they've been taught in the education system, that who can tell what bloodshed or what terrible consequences will be for the older generation because of these angry young people who now have nothing, some of them, many of them perhaps, they weren't trained to think logically, they weren't prepared for work, they were simply told. You need to express yourself and decide what gender you are. That's how I see it. And a feeling of worthlessness. Now, because of our sins, there's a sense in which we are worthless, but the Lord Jesus died for sinners like us. If we were worthless, the Lord Jesus died for us as if we were the most precious things in the universe, wretched us, vile us. The Lord Jesus came and loved us to the end, didn't he? Then there's the effects on the medical profession. We've already said this. Already compromised by abortion, there's a hardening of heart. We cease to be a compassionate profession. We become a cruel profession. We become a cold profession. We become a murderous profession, just like they did in Nazi Germany. And then we have the effect on the whole nation. The whole nation becomes even more embroiled in darkness. Again, going back to Halloween, there was an article in the news about somebody that had a tree on their front lawn in a built-up area in England. hung body bags with about four or five body bags with mannequins in upside down from the tree and even the local council said they had to take it down because it was too gross but people do that and children going past will see what looks like dead people hanging upside down from trees a celebration of death a celebration of mutilation a celebration of bloodshed a celebration of wickedness a celebration of satanic things and we think this has no effect on us or on the nation it's just fun we'll be dealing with this in a few weeks time won't we see this culture of death, it's going to get a lot worse as the antichrist system rises. So this is the thing, the effect on the whole nation of euthanasia is that compassion departs from the land, a culture of death comes in, and with that comes terror, With that comes terror. It's interesting, they might start euthanizing people because of illnesses and things like that, but they'll still let murderers go after a few years, even though we've read in Genesis 6, Genesis 9 there, that murder is to be punished with a death penalty. No one is safe. No one is safe, but those who are in Jesus Christ are safe whatever happens to them. The resurrection and the life Jesus said, didn't he? Carol says, okay, she's talking to Britannia, Marion says, you were sacked as a medical secretary in 1990 for refusing to ring the hospital to set the point for a patient to have an abortion. Marion, all I can say is I wholeheartedly respect you for doing that, wholeheartedly, and thank the Lord that you did. Much better that you were sacked than that you carried on and incurred innocent blood on your hands for that. as June says, I think it's because so sensitive a wrong word may have been led to more suicides. I'm not sure what we're talking about there. Yeah, sorry, I can't quite get back to where the discussion was. No worries. So no one is safe. It's a reign of terror. It's a reign of darkness. It's rebellion against God at heart. It's hatred towards God. It's love of death. It's a rejection of the wisdom of God and Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God. Now, our lives belong to God. Every part of us, every bit of us, all of us belongs to God. And some of us know because we've been through times of trial and great suffering. Some of us are going through times of trial and great suffering now. We know. that it's a challenge to us and a trial to us, but everything about us belongs to God. And I would very much like to recommend that last sermon. I put a link up on the posts on this channel here to that last sermon I read by Spurgeon that deals with this subject. What is it? What's the Christian's attitude when God allows us to have so much suffering in our lives? I found that sermon, which I read by Spurgeon, some of you listened to it live, I found that so encouraging to me. And I'd love to encourage you to listen to it as well. I've changed the name of that channel to Spurgeon Live. It seems appropriate to do that. And I've put a link to that sermon in the community section here. So note, our lives belong to God. Your life belongs to God. My life belongs to God. Even if we do have longstanding pain and suffering and illness, and we're despised and rejected and no one loves us, and we're alone. Our lives still belong to God. And as a church, we're in the business of showing compassion to people in those situations. For Christian doctors and nurses, we're in the business of wanting to show compassion to people in those situations, or pastors, or just ordinary Christians. And we can't explain that suffering. We can't say, well, this is why I'm suffering. We know that suffering came into the world because of sin, but we don't know why we as individuals suffer particular things and others don't. I know very few Christians who don't go through life without some great trials and afflictions if they love the Lord Jesus. But we can't explain our suffering, but God has called us to patience. I know we can be patient, but he's called us to patience, hasn't he? Again, I recommend that sermon by Spurgeon and the link in the community section here. But remember this, Jesus died for sinners. John 10. John 10 17. Now this is important because Jesus had power to lay down his life and take it up again. That wasn't euthanasia, that was the Lord Jesus laying down his life. In the full knowledge you could take it up again. That was Jesus becoming a sacrifice for your sins and my sins. That was the Lord Jesus Christ loving us and giving himself for us. John chapter 10 verse 17. Jesus says, therefore doth my father love me because I lay down my life that I might take it again. Jesus didn't die just to relieve himself from suffering, Jesus died, who was the Lord of glory, who considered it not robbery to be equal with God, who came down and his glory was veiled and who was weary and afflicted and thirsty and had nowhere to lay his head and was taken by cruel hand and mocked and scourged and spat upon and had his beard plucked out and went to the cross and was nailed there by cruel hands and was punished for your sins and my sins in our place. The Lord Jesus had the power to do that. This isn't euthanasia. This is the Lord Jesus. This is God sending his son into the world to lay down his life, to give his life for us, and then to take it up again in the resurrection. John 15 and verse 13. John 15 and verse 13, we read, greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. The Lord Jesus gave his life for us. He calls us his friends, and he laid down his life for us. He went to the cross in our place. He did so for the joy that was set before him, but that's what the Lord Jesus did for us, and he has taken up his life again. Now, when we complain about God's dealings with us, God shows us the cross. He shows us his son, and I believe he says, that's my answer. The Lord Jesus said, I stretched out my arms and allowed my wrists, my hands to be nailed to that cross in the place of sinners. And I suffered more than anyone could ever suffer. I suffered an eternity of torment in a span of time for you. He did it because he counted us his friends. He loved us. He set a value on us beyond measure, an infinite value. He loved us to the end. He gave himself for us. And in this world, we have a short, short, Time of suffering, but in eternity there's joy forevermore. Do you know Jesus Christ? Is Jesus Christ your savior from sin? Have you found him? Have you believed on him? Have you sought him? Because the Lord Jesus Christ will save you from your sin. He made a sacrifice for sin and whoever trusts in him has the salvation that comes from God. Jesus said, I am come that they might have life and have life more abundant. This is true for the person who is suffering from illness or even dementia. if they're a Christian, as it is for anybody else, but who knows Jesus Christ. But to be without the Lord Jesus Christ is to be without God and without hope. The answer isn't euthanasia, the answer is repentance and turning to Jesus Christ. Oh, I hope and I pray that everyone here knows the Lord Jesus. And if you don't, that you find the Lord Jesus. And I would that this message would go to many unbelievers and they would hear it and turn that God would use it to open their eyes and turn their hearts back to himself. We're living in a culture of death. Now, again, if I go back to what I've said there, in the description below here, I've given a link to Christian Concern, who will probably be at the forefront of the fight, the Christian fight against euthanasia in this country. They say what Christians can do, but most of all, we must preach the gospel. Most of all, we must pray for repentance in the nation. If there's no revival and there are no Christians in the land, then there will never be anything other than ungodliness in the land. That's why the preaching of the gospel must come first, but there are other things we can do as well, and Christian Concerns will give you instructions on their website. I've given the link below. Father, we see a culture of death all around us, and we know that we too were dead in our trespasses and sins. Thank you for waking us up. Oh Lord, help us not to be part of this culture. Lord, when we see people suffering around us, give us hearts full of compassion towards them. When we see people in distress because of suffering and pain, maybe depression, maybe bodily pain, Lord, help us to really love them with the love that you have loved us with. Oh Lord, that your love will be shed abroad in our hearts. But Lord, help us never to lift our hand to kill people, to take away their lives, to become murderers in your eyes. Oh Lord, this flood of dissipation, this flood of darkness, this flood of ungodliness seems unstoppable in the land and in other nations, our other nations represented here. But Father, we pray for mercy. We pray for revival in our lands, in our nations, in our countries. We pray, Lord, for an awakening and we pray for a turning of the tide and returning to you for salvation and for mercy. Father, I want to pray for those who are suffering pain, who listen to this. You'd have mercy upon them, that you would heal them, Lord. Pray for those who are facing surgery, Lord, that you give them the very best of care, compassionate doctors and nurses, skillful doctors and nurses, and that you'd watch over them and keep them by your grace. To pray, Lord, that Christian doctors and nurses would stand up for the truth, speak up for their patients and not harm their patients in any way, Lord, I want to pray for Christians, Lord, that we would stand up and, oh Lord, that we would serve you. We would serve you, Lord. Father, have mercy upon us. Thank you for the Lord Jesus Christ, our beloved Saviour. And we commend ourselves to you now in his precious name. Amen. Amen. We're living in very dark and very difficult days indeed. Geraldine says, Jesus knows all our suffering because he became human to be able to say he can relate. Amen, yes. I think about Job as well just then. Job wanted to die because of his suffering, and his suffering was extraordinary, but he didn't take his own life. Christian suffering with fortitude, with grace, is a great example to the world. It's part of our testimony. I was, as I said, I think I said before, when I was very very ill and in a lot of pain and this went on and on and on, I realized then that to be in pain and suffering and to follow the Lord Jesus Christ is just as significant in the Christian life is to lay down your life as a martyr because satan's attacking you no less because you've got no less opportunity to stand up and say in the face of this suffering in the face of these tribulations i'm going through this furnace of affliction i still love jesus christ and that's a testimony to the world So we have an opportunity in our suffering, we have an opportunity to stand up and say, I love the Lord Jesus. Yes, I'm suffering, but I trust him. Yes, I'm suffering and I don't understand why I'm suffering, but I trust him and I love him. And he's he who suffered for me and died for me. And in the world to come, there'll be no suffering, no tears, no pain, no crumbly bodies. I'm not going to list all the ways in which our bodies deteriorate. You can find that in Ecclesiastes, the book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament. But the Lord Jesus is above all things. If we were to doubt that and Jesus was here, he'd say, you put your hand in the nail prints of my hands, put your hand in my side, Jesus would say. We look at that and we say, my Lord and my God, So let's love the Lord Jesus and let's live for him and let's set an example for him. We're going to go face very difficult times. If you're a doctor and you're not part of that culture of death, they'll probably just brush you to one side. They will hate you if you're a nurse or a secretary, a medical secretary, because they have blood on their hands and you're a testimony to them that they are guilty and they hate that. They hate you without a cause. Repentance is what they need. Well, Dove says all is vanity, all is not vanity. Jesus Christ isn't vanity, the gospel isn't vanity, but without Jesus Christ, we might have super yachts, we might have mega mansions, we might have vast lands, we might be extraordinarily powerful, but it's all vanity. But in Jesus Christ, we might be poor, we might have a tent to live in, we might be the lowest of the land, but we have Jesus Christ and we have treasure in heaven, Dove. Without Jesus, all is vanity. With Jesus, everything is full of meaning. And most of all, we have him and that treasure in heaven. Thank you, Stacey, as well. Well, in the Hippocratic Oath, it says, I will not procure an abortion. And it talks about not killing your patients as well. And so they dropped the Hippocratic Oath, I think. The other thing about the Hippocratic Oath, I'm glad I didn't have to take it, because the proper Hippocratic Oath begins with these words, I swear by Apollo and all the gods, and I wasn't prepared to say that in my graduation, but they dropped it. Brian says thank you, thank you Brian, and yeah, I'm sure that is what you meant, and I think, you know, we could say the same of Solomon, couldn't we? That's what Solomon meant as well, But we have to read Ecclesiastes and see what Solomon is saying. He's showing us the vanity of life without God, without the Lord Jesus Christ. And yes, we've got wisdom of Solomon in Ecclesiastes and in Proverbs and in Song of Solomon. So we thank the Lord for that. Incidentally, one of the projects I'm really looking forward to, which I hope to get to with this live Spurgeon channel, I want to go through all the Spurgeon sermons on the Song of Solomon again. I did them once before, they were all up on the sermon audio site, but they are such extraordinarily powerful sermons about the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm just absolutely looking forward to going through the whole lot again and doing it live on YouTube, God willing. when that comes up so just beautiful sermons Spurgeon spends his whole time when he's talking about Song of Solomon talking about Christ and his church and you know there just isn't time to talk about anything else it's just so beautiful amazing Kim says thank you and God bless all here I'm going to end the broadcast now unless there are any questions about euthanasia or further comments I think in my heart of hearts, I feel we're not going to be able to stop this bill from going through. We should certainly try as Christians, but so far are the ruling authorities from God and so much are they an infliction of God's judgments upon us for our sins and our wickedness that I think that we've been handed over. But to those who follow Jesus Christ and know Jesus Christ, we're safe. Say unto the righteous, it shall be well with them. Thank you, Bernadette. So Ian says, with each passing day, cling ever tighter to our Lord Jesus. God bless all. Amen, Ian. Absolutely agree with that. That's the right thing to do. Jacoba, a very warm welcome to you, sister. The Lord bless you, and thank you for your encouragement and comments and things on these broadcasts. God bless you, sister. Carol, thank you. and Amanda, God bless all here. So thank you again and Lord bless you Amanda as well and our Australian contingent, Ian, Kathy, Amanda and others and Jacoba and Kim and others, the Lord be with you down there in the Antipodes in Australia and God help you as well because your country is also going through very similar processes I believe All because we've forgotten God and abandoned the Lord Jesus Christ Will the Lord be with us all? Please pray for this ministry, it needs your prayers, encouragement, it's greatly appreciated And as I say, you'll find a link below to various things including the Edified Ear collection. There are plans for that. There are plans to develop that and improve it and use it for God's glory. The Edified Ear Collection at podbean.com and for this work. God willing, the next live broadcast will be on Monday evening at 9 p.m. So thank you again. Well, thank you, Marion, for your comments. Well, Dove Messenger here on YouTube, I've put up my own name, but essentially this is the Bible Believers podcast. The other YouTube channel I've got is is Spurgeon Live, and really the Bible Believers Podcast is the name in my head that I have for this overall. But on Podbean, which is a service that provides podcasts hosting, we have the Edified Ear Collection. As I say, whilst I'm in charge of it, Sonia W. is doing a great job of running it. and several of you have been reading books for us, and they've been really well, beautifully read, and we're very encouraged by that. We've got Mary Jones and her Bible coming up soon. That's really, really good and worth listening to, and other excellent books and readers. So if you go to podbean.com, it's the Edified Ear Collection, but here it's under my name. On Sermon Audio, it's under my name, but I really think of it as the Bible Believers Podcast, and that's how it works. Thank you for asking. God be with us all. The Lord bless you and strengthen us all by his grace and help us because we sigh over these things and mourn over them. But we have the Lord Jesus and he causes us, he causes us to rejoice. Amen.
