This is Rick DeYoung with Prophecy Today Radio, the program that looks at current events in the light of Bible prophecy. It has been five days since the brutal invasion of Israel by Hamas. Journalist Dave Dolan joins us to give us an update. Dave, where do things stand right now in Israel? Well Rick, late yesterday the army announced that the official death toll is now over 1,400. That came after a horrendous day where troops went into some of the kibbutz communities near Gaza that they hadn't liberated really fully until yesterday, found many more bodies at Kibbutz Azza in particular. Rumors say up to 40 headless babies were discovered, decapitated babies. Meanwhile, Hamas is posting more videos online of the atrocities that its forces carried out on Saturday, which is increasing the rage in Israel over this. That may have prompted the defense minister Tuesday night to give an impromptu speech to soldiers down near Gaza. He was touring the area and he said, we will annihilate Hamas. Annihilate, wipe them out. And he said, very soon we will launch a full-scale ground operation against them. This is coming. He commended them for their work and other things too. But meanwhile, Hamas rocket attacks continued. Ashkelon was especially struck during the day and evening and into the night. The Tel Aviv area, Be'er Sheva also. There was rockets in the north, ominously again, from Hezbollah during the day. Fourteen, the IDF said, were fired into northwest Israel, the western Galilee area at civilian communities, or were aiming to hit them, and they were intercepted by the Iron Dome system. But that is ominous. We may see a fuller war with Hezbollah. A tank shell was also fired at an Israeli tank, an anti-tank shell, by Hezbollah during the day, and they announced the name of a soldier that was killed up there yesterday, a deputy brigadier commander. So the fighting continues and the tensions continue, but the Israeli public welcomed President Biden's speech on Tuesday, where he pledged full U.S. support, didn't call for restraint, as they usually do, and said, we'll back Israel in every way. And you could see he was truly moved by what he was saying, as again, the severity of the atrocity. I'm now calling it a pogrom, Rick. As this becomes clear, the rage grows and the determination in Israel to totally defeat Hamas, to have no more Hamas living next to it, is definitely growing as well. So the war is on and it will certainly continue. David, as we look at what's ahead, what should we be looking out for right now? Well, of course, they're going to try first off to rescue these 200-plus hostages. Some, as I said, are Americans being held in Gaza. Before they really launch any major ground offensive, they're going to try to have to do that with special forces and other ways they can operate. I know the plans are in place for that, and hopefully they can succeed in getting at least most of those hostages out. But a ground operation is a certainty now. As I said, the defense minister announced that Tuesday evening. It's not a question. It will happen. 360,000 soldiers massed near the border. The only question is, does it spread fully to Lebanon as well, to the northern border? Does Syria get involved? Does Iran get directly involved? Does the U.S. sending an aircraft carrier, its latest, newest, the Gerald Ford, to the region and other ships with it, do they get directly involved? So there's a lot of questions, Rick, but we're certainly going to see more and more trouble and more and more warfare, more and more bombings, but it looks like the slaughter of civilians and the beheading of civilians presented for the time being. But this is indeed Hamas is now ISIS in the eyes of the Israelis, and President Biden said the same, so it will be a poor war for sure.
