Hallowed be Your Name

16

Introduction

• Prayer does not come naturally to us.
• True prayer is God-centered
• The Lord's Prayer teaches us to ask for things that are consistent with God's Word & will

A REVERENT PETITION
What does it mean to “hallow” God's “name”? Hagias means Holy, Hagios is a saint, and hagiazo means to make holy or sanctify. “Let be sanctified your name.”

To hallow God's name means to treat it as holy, to regard everything by which God makes Himself known as holy.

God's name is the essence of His divine being – all that He is and all that He does. (Ps. 7:17)

‘Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name.' Psa 96:8
