Looking Forward to 2025
Greetings,
As we close out 2024, we reflect on a big year of advances and changes. In many ways, it feels as though we've been walking on water for the past 24 years, endeavoring to keep our eyes on the Lord. What we are doing, humanly speaking, is impossible for a company of our size. Yet, we are committed to using our God-given technical skills to fulfil Matthew 24:14:
"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations."
The phrase "all the world" implies all places, while "all nations" implies all languages. Having sermons on the Internet on individual websites is not enough—they must be discoverable on a platform where they can be heard. And it is not enough to have a platform where they can be heard—that platform must be cancel-proof. And the only way to guarantee a cancel-proof platform is to build it ourselves. We call this The Vault, and we believe the Lord is enabling us to be that platform for faithful preaching.
As we continue to move forward and walk on the waters of impossibility, my prayer is that we will not, like Peter, be overtaken by the fear of unbelief, or should I say, disbelief that we could or even should have as our goal something as audacious as "every sermon in every language." However, if we're serious about this objective, it will require of us to get out of the boat of our comfort zone and take the necessary steps of faith to be where the Lord is in His great mission throughout the world.
Pray for us as we enter 2025.
SermonAudio 2.0 Refresh.
Probably the biggest change has been the launch of the new SermonAudio 2.0 website refresh along with a total rewrite of our stats-gathering system. The entire architecture for the new site is foundationally different from the old website. It was necessary to do so in order to get off of legacy back-end systems and embrace the newer development tools that today's developers are using.
Other advances include beautiful new broadcaster homepages, our march to transcribing every sermon, our new television apps, improved online donations, our updated Echo skill, our rewrite of the mobile apps, and our finishing up of the Global Sermons interface.
We are absolutely committed to providing the best possible platform for audio, video, and live webcast preaching on the web.
Free User Accounts.
Over 50,000 free user accounts have been created by everyday individuals worldwide allowing you to more conveniently follow broadcasters, speakers, series, and bookmark sermons. To date, over 56,000 broadcasters, 47,000 series, and 108,000 speakers are being followed by users. Additionally, over 118,000 sermons have been bookmarked by users. Don't miss out, create your free user account today!
Audiobook Initiative.
We've created a new collection of audiobooks where we are continuously releasing new free audiobooks for your listening enjoyment. To date, we've voiced all of the sermons by C. H. Spurgeon, all the works of John Bunyan, Horatius Bonar, and are aggressively working through the complete works of John Knox—an extraordinarily difficult process of scanning pages, updating very Old English, correcting, and voicing. It's the Audiobook Initiative, and it's our gift to the world.
Everyone knows the name John Knox, but has anyone actually listened to his sermons? We are giving voice to these great treasures, and they can now be freely heard for the first time since the days of Knox himself.
The Vault Network.
The Vault is the physical infrastructure that runs SermonAudio. We are making great progress and it's exciting to be in a situation where we're becoming less dependent on the cloud. One big part of getting ourselves detached from Big Tech is establishing miniature versions of The Vault in locations around the world. Our desire is to reach the four corners of the world—figuratively, by bringing sermons to every nation and every language through Global Sermons, and physically, by having a presence in all four corners.
The Lord has been opening doors for us, and in 2024, we began expanding into multiple geographic locations. This critical step serves as the ultimate protection, ensuring the long-term preservation of this treasure of sermons for generations to come.
For 2025, we will be bringing on a new full-time Infrastructure Operations Manager who will oversee the operations of The Vault Network.
Vault Storage 4.
The Vault was created to protect our ability to safeguard data that may otherwise be susceptible to cancellation or interference on conventional cloud platforms. The Vault Network consists of multiple sites strategically located in diverse global regions representing all four corners of the world, ensuring maximum fault tolerance and true redundancy for massively scalable S3 object storage.
It was built for us, but perhaps not for us only. We are open to helping other like-minded businesses and ministries with cancel-proof, Christian, S3-compatible, enterprise-grade, cloud storage. We call it Vault Storage 4.
Looking forward to 2025.
As we enter our 25th year of operation, it feels like we've been walking on the waters of impossibility to be able to accomplish as much as we have for such a small team. As we keep our eyes on the Lord, we trust we will be able to see even greater things than these in the year to come.
Drop us an email ([email protected]), let us know you're praying, and thank you for your support.
