How is the principle of contra-deserved mercy displayed in history? Romans 9:24–29 prepares us for the sermon in the midweek prayer meeting. In these six verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that the principle of contra-deserved mercy is displayed both in how the Lord saves Gentiles and in how the Lord saves Jews.

Who is the woman of Revelation 12:1-6?
Genesis 37:9-11 describes Israel this way as Joseph reveals his dream.
But Genesis 3:1-5 gives us the two main characters of Revelation 12:1-6: Eve and the Serpent (Hebrew: nāḥāš, נָחָשׁ; Greek: óphis, ὄφις).
Revelation 12:9 reveals who the Serpent really is: "The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent (óphis, ὄφις) called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.
Original sin is described in Genesis 3:5: "You'll be as gods knowing, determining for yourselves good and evil, and you'll experience it (yādaʿ, יָדַע, K&B, pp. 390-392).
Genesis 3:7 gives us a description of what happens when our eyes are opened, and Genesis 3:8-13 is a crash course in ego defense mechanisms of modern psychology with its table turning and blame shifting.
What is the role of Adam and of Eve in our fall and in our redemption? The Son of Eve will crush the head of the Serpent (Genesis 3:15). As with the woman of Revelation 12:2, Eve now will experience agony in giving birth (Genesis 3:16).
But it is through Eve and all her female descendants, including the Virgin Mary, that we are saved (1 Timothy 2:15). Without woman there would be no incarnation: God without ceasing to be God, became a true human being in the womb of the Woman. And because of that, the death of the Lord Jesus secures our salvation.
The Lord Jesus Christ has his heal bitten by Satan as he dies on the Cross. But the Lord Jesus crushes Satan's head by his death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord Jesus, the son of Mary, the son of Israel, the son of Eve.
Today we look into the opening of the first and second Seals and the riders on the white and red horses, as described in Revelation 6. What we see is that the Old Testament and good biblical exegesis is key to understanding how this prophecy will play out.
Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. 9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. 11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12 And when ye come into an house, salute it. 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. 15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

The 54th chapter of Isaiah starts with, "Shout for Joy!". and that is precisely the best response to the teaching of the Suffering Servant presented in the 53rd chapter. However, in the 54th chapter, Jehovah reiterates His eternal promise to Israel AND His promise bless the followers of the "Astonied One"--the Messiah--with Israel. Indeed, the prophecy says those "children" will vastly outnumber those born to the lineage of Jacob (Israel), but that does not mean they have usurped the original promise to Israel. Indeed, this chapter is the genesis of Paul's discourse in Romans 11, which clearly says, in regard to Israel, the gifts and the callings of God are without repentance, and represents the bulk of this teaching.
