Advent series - sermon 1. Man's greatest need is to be clothed!

Pastor Jesse shared with us the message of "The Incarnation." Although the word incarnation does not appear in the Bible; incarnate is a Latin word that means "enflesh." So the incarnation is the enfleshness of God. The Incarnation and the atonement cannot be separated. One speaks of Jesus' birth (the cradle), and the other speaks of his death (the cross). The incarnation is a pledge of the atonement. Jesus did not come not to live, but to die, not for himself but for His children. The Promise of the Incarnation. The Person of the Incarnation (Mary), The Place of the Incarnation, The Purpose of the Incarnation.

The Reformations of the 16th century was no less than the rebirth and resurrection of the church of Jesus Christ from false doctrine that laid an impossible burden on people and robbed christ of his glory as the all sufficent Savior of sinners through personal faith in him. The recovery of key doctrine is expressed in later adopted mottos of the five solas- Scripture alone, Grace aloe, faith alone, Christ alone for the glory of God alone.

Were the people surprised with the falls of Israel and Judah? In this session, we see the words of the prophets, which not only contained warnings but also precious promises.

Blood was holy to Israel because God used it to point to the atonement of Christ for us and the life of Christ in us.

Thanksgiving 2023 - We Will Give Thanks to You Forever - Psalm 79. A Psalm of Asaph lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 586 BC by the Babylonians concludes with a declaration that even in calamity and judgment, the people will give thanks to God forever!

Paul, raising the question, magnifies our understanding of the great mercies that we, as Christians, have received through grace.

What is the first part of Israel's distinguishing the holy from the common? Leviticus 17 prepares us for the evening sermon on the Lord's Day. In these sixteen verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that the first part of Israel's distinguishing the holy from the common was to be their respect for the holiness of blood.

Even the "holy things" of the church need to be cleansed and consecrated from sin, and God provides the only thing that can do it: Christ and His blood.

The reason for generosity is because God has been generous, not so that God will be generous.

Luke 23:26-56 – The Crucifixion of Christ – Sermon Outline Intro: Christ's ministry leads Him to the cross to die and pay for sin, and even in carrying and hanging from the cross, Christ continues to love and serve His Father and minister to His people. Need: Christ's words and work of dying should move our hearts to take up our cross after Christ, to follow Him into life eternal and victory over evil, in loving devotion, admiration and praise of our Lord and Savior. Theme: Christ warns and comforts while bearing the cross as the world watches & responds. Christ with Simon the Cyrenian carries His cross & warns of coming judgment on Jerusalem. (26-31) Christ on the cross asks the Father to forgive His crucifiers and comforts the repentant criminal. (32-43) Christ dies on the cross after the crowd sees cosmic & cultic signs, and the faithful bury His body.

In Psalm 65 we see: that God is to be praised for… …his merciful kindness is in hearing the prayers of his people. …his merciful kindness in atoning for the transgressions of his people. …his merciful kindness in choosing his people to bring them near to himself by allowing them to dwell in his courts, to join in to congregational worship. ... his merciful kindness in dealing with his people in righteousness through the death and resurrection of his Son to bring us to salvation. Praise Yahweh...Hallelujah!

God's very last words concerning creation in Genesis 2:25 say, The man and his wife were both naked and not ashamed. Genesis chapter 3 recounts that that this very good condition was lost in the fall. So the question is, "Is there a way back to naked and not ashamed in marriage?" The answer is yes, through the gospel. God has given us two places on this earth where we might be naked and not ashamed. First in the presence of the Lord, and second in our marriage - and both come by grace alone. Our marriages must be a place of grace.

A study of the 4th and center cry of Christ from the cross. It is a pleading word! He has become man's sin and suffers under the wrath of God. during the 3 hours of darkness, the Lord bruises the Son and there is great travail of soul - the soul of Jesus Christ has been made an offering for our sin. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain! To God be all the glory, for great things He hath done.
