When Jesus said, “God is spirit,” He was simply revealing what the Father is like: He is divine, He isn’t limited by time, space, or matter, He is life-giving, He is invisible, and He is incomprehensible. God as Spirit accentuates His divinity. It encompasses His simplicity, that is, God is not made up of parts, His essence is not compounded.
