Calvary Baptist Church of Ninilchik, Alaska, began in the mid-1930s as a ministry primarily to the children of the village. Within a short time whole families were attending. In the late 1950s the church moved from the old village to its present location on the Sterling Hwy. across from the Ninilchik General Store. Our purpose is to glorify God and to build up the saints by preaching and teaching the whole Bible which we believe is the revelation of God to man. We are a church that reaches the whole family through services four times a week consisting of Sunday School (9:30 am) for preschoolers through adults; a morning worship service (10:30 am); a Sunday evening service (6 pm, except for the 1st Sunday of the month when we have our dinner fellowship immediately following the morning service); and a Wednesday evening prayer and Bible study time (6 pm). All are welcome.
In 1989, our dear shepherd at that time, Pastor Ron Blough, initiated our reading through a portion of the 66 books of the Bible as a congregation, typically a chapter each Sunday. Since July 2019, our current pastor, Jon Cardwell, usually preaches from the text read (with occasional exceptions).
