Teach Me to Please You, Lord
Teach Me to Please You, Lord
2 Chronicles 5:13-14 (NKJV) Indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying: "For He is good, for His mercy endures forever," that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
It pleases God when His people sincerely worship Him in various ways. The music of Israel in Old Testament days might be shocking to some of the traditional churches today. With trumpets, cymbals, and stringed instruments, they made a loud noise to the Lord. They praised God with their lips, and King David even danced for joy. God was pleased to be praised from the hearts of the people, and His glory surrounded them.
So often we are quick to tell God what we need or want, but let us first praise Him and thank Him for how great He is, and for the love, mercy, and grace He has poured out upon His people through His Son Jesus Christ, resulting in the forgiveness of our sins, salvation, and eternal life. Then let us seek His provision.
When we please God with our heartfelt worship, He blesses us with His protection, preservation, and provision, and He is pleased to fill us as He guides us each day with the joyful presence of His Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 13:15-16 (NKJV) Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Revelation 4:11 (NKJV) "You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created."
