A Word To The Wise
I find it amazing that those who claim to believe God's Gospel, claim to have rested and called upon Christ as "the Lord our Righteousness", use social media, e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, as though the same rules that apply in the real world to them as saints have no application in their posts or comments on social media:
"But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, LET IT BE NOT ONCE NAMED AMONG YOU, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks."(Eph.5:3,4)
"See then that ye walk CIRCUMSPECTLY (literally, diligently, perfect, perfectly), NOT AS FOOLS, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."(Eph.5:15,16)
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."(Eph.4:29,30)
"Abstain from all appearance of evil." (I Thess.5:22)
"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, here Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God."(Col.3:1-3)
As children of the Living God, those purchased by the blood of God's own Son, we should seek to avoid anything and everything that would "grieve the Holy Spirit", bring dishonor on the Gospel or our brethren, as well as anything that would cause a young, immature believer to stumble, EVEN IN THIS SOCIAL MEDIA WORLD. We should THINK before we post. What I say in private, for the most part will never be repeated. But what you post on the worldwide web, is there VIRTUALLY FOREVER.
I'm not saying we shouldn't and can't interact with our "friends" on Facebook or other social media. But I have seen posts made by those who claim to believe and love God's Gospel that even PAGANS wouldn't post on their social media pages. These things ought not to be so!
